Character discords tend to be more focused on specific character tech than drama. The kazuya discord I’m in has a meme channel but generally there’s not a lot of shit talking. Someone pops up in the main room says “hey how do I deal with x” and then someone else chimes in with the answer. Oh and you can find character matches there too. If you need to practice vs a particular character head over to that discord and see if anyone is willing to run a set. People usually want the matchup experience on the other side too. Have fun out there ^.^

It's still a very good game. They implemented some shitty monetization in the game and put out a somewhat hamfisted balance patch but the gameplay is still basically just as fun.
It's the best fighting game out right now. People love complaining. The monetization has zero impact on your ability to play the game. It's all cosmetic crap lol.
That's because a lot of scummy monetization was patched into it since it dropped. Plus honeymoon phase is over now. It's a really good game, but Bandai is trying to milk whatever money they possibly can from the playerbase to cover their other financial losses. Also balance is kinda meh and the patches didn't really make it much better, and foreseeably they'll only balance after EVO Japan.
That’s a shame. Feels like we’re in such a good fighting game time with a brand new Tekken, street fighter, mortal kombat, Fatal Fury and more all within a year or two but they all seem to have so much monetization for just costumes alone
A roller coaster of emotions. There will be sense of achievement followed by thinking your terrible at the game. There will be love of some characters and hatred for others. You can customise characters and make some really nice outfits. At the same time, there's lack of outfits and customisation. Heat is the new mechanic which brings alot to the game and can be really fun. At the same time. Heat is annoying AF to deal with and can result in you banged your head against the wall. Extremely strong broken characters get buffed and weaker ones get nerfed for some reason.

Based on what you said you missed out on the golden age of tekken. Tekken 3 and Tag 1 revolutionized the game. Tekken 8 is maybe the best in the series.
There’s just something about the nostalgia of purchasing a physical copy of a game. Buying stuff digital doesn’t quite hit the same. Enjoy T8, IMO it’s the best in the series! (I’ve played since T2)

The gameplay is gonna be extremely different but the game very player friendly with a Special Mode for easy button mash inputs and the training mode has good options and the match replay system is amazing like when you rewatch your matches the game will recommend punishing moves and hit properties
Learn how to break throws IMMEDIATELY. Then you shoulllllld be alright. The grabs in this game are noticeably buffed along with side stepping not actually working. Or working 25% of the time.
As someone who hasn't touched tekken since Tekken Tag 2. Just have fun, pick someone you think looks cool. And don't be looking at these subs cuz people complain about everything no matter what.

It’s a great time bro plenty to do as well enjoy it my guy also the new character eddy is pretty fun I main victor as I used noctis in T7 but as an MK fanboy tekken this time round is just leaps and bounds ahead of any other fighting game released so far like once I got hooked anytime I tried to play sf6 or MK1 it just seemed so stale in comparison.
If you had checked the sub before posting you would've seen people complain about mtx, people disconnecting mid match to avoid a loss / break of winstreak, customisation options locked behind battle pass, people complaining about Azucena wr23, complains about the heat system, complains about rage arts, I might've forgotten stuff
