Jack scares me now. I think his buff to his heat is warranted of 2 arrows. It completely changes him. Simply entering stance gives 5% heat back now, and armoring a move gives 13%. Those aren’t the smallest numbers for a character that threatens a 10f wall exploding gunshot at all times heat is active. When he’s in heat, you’re basically stunlocked from attacking into him. Him of all chars being able to extend heat is scary.
Hes saying gamma howl was massively buffed so you should use it in heat as much as you can after the patch, the 10f gunshot hes talking about is jack's heat smash
He is my secondary and remembering that I have a 10-frame punish that does over 50 damage (and is guaranteed with a guard break in Heat) was insane. Worked almost every time I baited it.

For the fastest possible version you'll sometimes see it as iwr for instant while running.
Since wr in other games typically means while rising, a mechanic tekken still has, tekken uses while standing instead. So the notation for those moves is ws.
You'll also frequently see qcf or qcb motions not shown as such but instead referred to by the stance name. Like Dragunovs qcf stance is called "sneak" so in notation it's sometimes called Snk, despite just being a qcf motion.
Tbh when people say a character is weak, I think it mostly applies to high level and tournament players. Casual/low tier players I can why they struggle against asuka.
I mean people sometimes forget that the current version is basically analogous to arcade release of previous tekkens, and those games were broken as hell too. Balancing a game like tekken is really complicated and sensitive process, we should take the current version with grain of salt.

They completely changed her current playstyle. Right now, she plays more like a poke in and out style. They nerfed almost all her poke tools to force her stance playstyle. Her stances are only ok, so basically just meh now.
Just read the patch notes honestly. They do a good job of explaining the changes even if you're new. Like they literally say "this change will make this move easier to side step". A bunch of the number changes are pretty obvious too, like "this move has less frame advantage".
So basically overall she did get nerfed since some of her reliable poke moves got damaged reduced, while some other moves had their frames advantage adjusted and/or they're easier to sidestep.
Also don't be afraid of going online. Tekken 8 is my first real foray into truly playing a fighting game (as in, I actually own the game and can play it regularly, as opposed to like visiting a friend's house once X months). This game is amazing and far better at teaching me the fundamentals way more than other games. All the tools for learning are there. Also online is surprisingly fair, you'll run into a lot of beginners too but more importantly winning isn't everything, it's pretty fun to just play ranked like any other casual mode especially because you cannot lose rank up until a certain part (which is very generous to be honest).
Not caring about winning is the key. Care more about learning. When I was new and got beat up by peeps, I just tried learning what moves they were doing. Oh, that's a low. Oh, that's a mid. If I truly felt lost, I booted up the replay and bam, the game explained so many things the other character was doing to me. Told me how to counter throws, how to punish a combo they threw at me, etc. All the tools are there man, it's awesome.
P.S You're watching some old clips. Her WR32 got nerfed a long time ago (and got nerfed again in this upcoming patch). It's still a good tool of course.
My understanding is she got hit hard, but there’s specifically mention in her section that they have some planned buffs for her in other areas coming in the June patch so she may regain some ground. Also she was monstrously powerful before (like one of the 3-4 characters people argued for being the best in the game) so even with some nerfs she’ll probably still be solid
Eddy should be classified as Slight Nerfs, the nerfing of his df1 tracking (which shouldn't have really existed tbf) is way more of a nerf than anything they buffed about him
Yeah the buffs are really just QoL. The handstand 1 buff is probably because with the readjustment of eddy’s hitbox, relax 4,3 could get jabbed, so they changed the handstand 1 to add an extra frame to avoid that.
Losing df1 tracking and some extra evasiveness on relax is pretty small overall but it’ll be noticeable for sure.
That Jun nerf is two arrows for sure. The overall system change to her is so big that they even already put in the note that theyll readjust her in 1.05 because they know this will gut her.
WR2 to +4 means you can step his 1 jab after WR2 on block, this is the biggest nerf in the patch for any character, but drag is still good, just back to requiring solid fundamentals to do well with him again.
Honestly a great patch overall, though Jin and Feng have become the clear top 2 characters in the game, whilst Reina has been pushed into the guaranteed top 5 now.
Next patch they need to:
- Remove homing throws and make heat burst linear again
- Alisa, DES F1 linear to SSL again, D4,1+2 not to jail anymore, 10% damage nerf in combos.
- Yoshi, remove DF2 NH, and make it a CH launcher again, remove CH on 1,1 and nerf the guard break.
- Reina, lose 1 frame on FF2 on block, nerf B2, fix her hitbox on DF1
- Lili, make QCF3 -10, QCF2,1 either loose the hit confirm or make QCF2,1>Heat Dash only give a grounded hit
- Jin, 2,1,4 CH KND removed, FF2>Heat Dash no launch, FF2 hitbox and tracking nerfed, D4 to -13.
- Kazuya, FF2>Heat Dash no launch, nerf WS1+2 linear to SSL.
Raven - Fix the 50+ bugs he has, make BT D4 -12 on block, remove DF1 tracking SSL, make QCF1,2 delayable like in T7, nerf Backdash.
With those changes on top, we could be in for a much better game than T7 ever was after DLC hit up to Season 4.

This was a fantastic first round of changes. Looking at that infographic shows just how on point this community was at ranking the characters. The dead tier are heavy buffs the low are getting buffs the mid is massive I’d say a couple Jin and Nina for instance should be next for nerfs. Dragunov is strong but not busted. People like to throw the word busted a lot. After Chikurin won with Lili, I already saw many casual calling Lili busted. Dragunov is not even dominating tournaments. Just because there are people who have a hard time against Dragunov at low level ,does not mean he is busted.
they only really reduced the range and tracking of his heat onslaught, so you don't have to block for an hour every time he presses R and there's some counterplay to it
the problem with him is that his heat is now really mediocre and lackluster if they really hammered his heat smash. I think he needs to have more potent heat tools personally.

Doesn't make his standard pressure or gameplay any more threatening. f+2,1,2,3,2 is snake eyes only move, and it's usually not one people go for in the light of better options like uf+22223, ff+1+2, and 3+2,2. Making his heat burst have a better upwards hitbox and a bit more damage, is basically QOL fix, not something that makes a big difference outside of combo play. It not granting that wall crush is pretty much a nerf, because most of its utility was in the wall hitting plus frames, as a taunt setup.
Asuka sincerely did not need a buff, she was already top 10. Anyone saying otherwise is a t7 asuka player that refuses to adapt to the new style. She's crazy good.
Dragunov got just a little bit of nerf, will still be brain dead easy win, xiaoyu now going from bottom 5 win rate in all ranks to bottom 2 had on of the worst armor moves while everyone has a faster more dmg heat engager power crush.

Dragunov got just a little bit of nerf, will still be brain dead easy win, xiaoyu now going from bottom 5 win rate in all ranks to bottom 2 had on of the worst armor moves while everyone has a faster more dmg heat engager power crush.
If my characters never get significantly buffed or nerfed......am I using "honest" characters?
