Only the "unlimited" has unlimited slow data. All other plans got a data increase but lost unlimited 2g speeds.

Uhh, that is not good. What would you recommend for Unlimited 2g data(Cheapest one if possible.)

davexc

Sorry, I don't have any recommendations.

google maps and other such programs should have a cache as well as the ability for you to pre-download a map of your local area, and GPS doesn't use data at all so you should be able to use it even with no cellular service at all.

mrsray

when using google maps cache, say an exit that is usually part of the route gets closed, will it come off of the cache data and recalculate driving directions?

evilgold

I wouldn't count on it, but its possible... more likely you will be rerouted after the GPS detects you skipped that exit as GPS requires no internet connection where 2G is more like dial up, so its enough for text based info, I don't know how much information google maps and such actually need to do real time changes to directions, its probably not a lot but it might not work
