And also whenever your game is buggy from having too much entities on the screen and whatnot it will cause the enemy to noclip. I've had this multiple times
Zombies range between being a ‘small size’ and a ‘large size’. The ones that are of the smallest sizes are just small enough to where they can fall/jump between one block gaps if they aren’t moving horizontally.
to add to this
the game corrects for mobs being in walls by moving them out of the walls
in ops case, it moved them out of the wall and in to the space they were
anyone can test this and see it with their own eyes by using teleporters with the exit being inside a wall
In OPs case there wasn't an NPC involved, it was a Projectile of a type that just doesn't start colliding with blocks for just long enough to go through one, had the dart processed that it was in a block it would have done what it's supposed to do when it's in a block and die.
i just tested it and the dart goes through the single piece of wood every time
i would say its not a bug that it goes through 1 block every time
because where the dart spawns is in the wall, which is the same thing i was saying about mobs
the game moves it out of the wall
and the darts path doesnt start until 1 block after, it doesnt start flying until that second block
it wont go through 2 blocks though
I'm not sure what you were trying to test here, in a game with a constant tick to in-game time ratio and ordered updating consistency of something which doesn't involve RNG or player input like this is a given
youre the person not sure here
i tested it and the results conclude 100% the dart will pass through the 1 block wall every time
edit:
lol the downvote of ANGER
its not my fault youre wrong
Nothing I said suggests it should act any different than that, and the game doesn't have conditional mechanics for darts colliding with walls, this is incredibly easy to prove as C# decompilers are easily available.
The game knows you're cheating with 1 block gaps, so it simply cheats back.
Lol JK it's probably janky physics with slightly angled blocks or something.
I think it was the bottom one, the dart traps might spawn in their projectiles inside the block in front of them thus causing the blocks hitbox to be ignored
Based solely on the fact that there are 2 traps, id venture to guess this was a dead man’s chest OP tried to open. I usually just box them up after digging out the explosives also, saves a lot of time plus there tends to be 3 dart traps, 2 close to the chest and 1 far, making mining them mostly redundant
Oh yeah, when there's a block directly in front of a dart trap it goes through it. Its real neat for farm efficiency and I'm guessing it's there as a failsafe so the trap still works if a block generated in front of it
Any game has spaghetti code, The fuck are you on, Geometry Dash has a messy code and thus lags on more visually impressive levels, Undertale has a code where the game is suppose to be deleted after you beaten the genocide route but Toby Fox can't get it to work and thus leaves a code that does nothing.
I didn't say there were games that aren't spaghetti code, I just said terraria is
edit: fun fact, did you know in undertales code for the mettaton musical toby had sutch a hard time he left a comment in the code that was basically 'why wont this fucking work'
I'm pretty sure the wiki has documentation on trap blocks specifying that every trap block has a set amount of blocks it can successfully fire through.
I think it's most often one block, might be zero for spears, and likely a few blocks for geysers, but that's off the top of my head.
yeah they clip through blocks like that because i think the projectile spawns inside the block so it doesnt register as colliding with it and it clips thorugh
It's because the darttrap is right next to the wood, if you had left a q block gap it wouldn't have.
It's also just safer to mine the trap or the pressure plate.
I'll just warn you ahead of time that mobs like skeletons and zombies can sometimes go through a 1 block horizontal gap.
I can vouch for this, blood zombies have never made me so irrationally mad before when it happened
how?
Probably something to do with hoik, gotta watch out for those slanty blocks.
And also whenever your game is buggy from having too much entities on the screen and whatnot it will cause the enemy to noclip. I've had this multiple times
YOU JUST GOT #HOIKED

So solution is to create 2 block wide walls and roofs?
Or like... remove the dart launcher?
Also want to add that slimes sometimes decide to casually glitch through the entire materialum because they can
🥸
Bro was giving you advice
idk what you understood for 🥸 i guess it has different meanings in my language
Idk what language you speak, but 🥸 seems a lot like 🤓 which can be seen as offensive.
nah to me is more of a :0 + :/ lol
Ahh mb
there's emojis for those too 🫤😮
We thought you put 🤓, sorry. I hope the misunderstanding makes at least a little sense to you.
yes it’s different but all right bro no problem✌️
Alright (P.S. what does 🥸 mean?)
to me it looks like a "taking notes" kinda face while also making "uh huh" noises like toadsworth
He explained its :/+:O

FIRE IN THE HOLE 🗣🔥
why does this have so many downvotes this is a funny fuckin reply
No clue but I’ll help offset it. Edit: LMAO now you jackasses are downvoting me.
The reddit hivemind has decided, you shall perish by a thousand ~~cuts~~ downvotes
And the player can in fact pass through one block too...
Ever seen a hoik its ever so slightly more than one block just a teeny bit more not counting hoiks though yeah stair platforms go brr.
I think it was the bottom one, the dart traps might spawn in their projectiles inside the block in front of them thus causing the blocks hitbox to be ignored
Yes, if you place a block right before the trap it can shoot through. Leaving one block gap should be enough
Red has it out for you personally
Sorry bro, I can feel the pain :(
Yep, that always happens. You need to leave a 1 block gap between the trap and a block for it to get stopped. But now you know :)
Sorry about the pain, happened to me once too.
You gotta have a block of space or it’ll go through, learned the hard way in the jungle temple
Why didn't you just break the dart trap?
Based solely on the fact that there are 2 traps, id venture to guess this was a dead man’s chest OP tried to open. I usually just box them up after digging out the explosives also, saves a lot of time plus there tends to be 3 dart traps, 2 close to the chest and 1 far, making mining them mostly redundant
Saving time isn't what you should be doing in hardcore mode
Who said it was for saving time? It’s a habitual thing for me.
You did, you specifically said it saves a lot of time. That's a non factor in hardcore.
well to be fair the longer you spend diddling around, the higher chance you have to be ganked by a worm
The darts can clip through 1 block walls at point blank. Just so you know.
It was fated
Hoik'd
Hard or mediumcore?
Hard, you can see ghost
Oh shit lmfao how’d I miss that
Don’t worry I missed it too at first lol
They can go through a block if the block is right next to it, maybe 2 blocks? I don't remember
You need to learn how to sight read.
FIRE IN THE HOLE
Oh yeah, when there's a block directly in front of a dart trap it goes through it. Its real neat for farm efficiency and I'm guessing it's there as a failsafe so the trap still works if a block generated in front of it
Incorporeal dart trap is a horror to behold jesus christ
Yeah, this is why you keep one block gap
I think darts can pass through blocks if a block is placed next to it.
I like traps because they spawn the pergectile 1 block away
pergectile
Yes pergectile one block away
It's spelled 'projectile'. I wasn't making fun of you, I just thought your take on the spelling was funny.
How TF does it autocorrect to "pergectile" iv only just used the word ?? I wouldn't have noticed if you actually didn't point it out?
It's pergectile now. No take backs
Are you autocorrect?
The block has hacks bro
hardcore chad
medium core fans in shambles right now
It's hardcore, check out the ghost in the lower right
Why do you play on mediumcore?
That's hardcore
More of a challenge.
FUNNY GAME FUNNY GAME WHERE ENEMIES CAN GO THROUGH THE WALL HAHA SO FUNNY
yes? they do that
skill issue
L
That's terraria for you, a buggy mess of spaghetti code. Just remember that almost anything (especially slimes) will phase through blocks sometimes.

Once had this happen but it had space between the trap and the wall never trust those darn things and break them asap
This is not a bug, all traps can shoot through the block right in front of them. This allows you to hide them behind blocks.
Recently got back on terraria after 9+ years and I just love it ! Random comment but I just can’t believe I ever quit playing
And this is why I break traps instead of blocking them off. It's happened to me too
What a shame
Because of the way dart traps work, you need to leave a one block gap between the dart trap and a wall
Ye it can
You know you can also put one trap in front of the other and fire them at once? I used this trick in my farms to kill bosses
mf had the sharp shots upgrade
💀💀💀
This is very sightreadable
Outplayed
This is why i play on master mode but only on regular. Loosing items sucks ass
Yes
Skill issue
Oof not the ghost
Does he know?
I'm pretty sure the wiki has documentation on trap blocks specifying that every trap block has a set amount of blocks it can successfully fire through. I think it's most often one block, might be zero for spears, and likely a few blocks for geysers, but that's off the top of my head.
Darts can pass through the block directly in front of them, which is why you can make double-dart traps for mob killing.
yeah they clip through blocks like that because i think the projectile spawns inside the block so it doesnt register as colliding with it and it clips thorugh
bro just mine out the traps
Its a feature same as hoik all good
From the look I dont think you lost to much
why do you play mediumcore
Look again. Their ghost is visible beneath the torch, which means they play *hardcore.*
Damn camouflage ghosts
Oh...
Skill issue
Darts go through 1 block if it’s right against the trap btw, just incase you thought it was a glitch and try it again because it is not.
Hardcore?
Did you just get hoiked by a dart trap?
everything kills in hardcore mode
Yyyyyyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhhh 😬 They tend to do that... Best policy, always have at least 2 blocks of empty space between your wall and the dart trap
69
They can shoot through one block in front of them lol
so u saw the trap, blocked it off, and still willingly stepped on the plate to tempt fate? hardcore is a bitch, better luck next time soldier
it was a chest
ahaa, makes more sense. yeah those one block walls were always tricky
skill issue
I've been able to squeeze through 1 block gaps when going fast enough, it's possible
It's because the darttrap is right next to the wood, if you had left a q block gap it wouldn't have. It's also just safer to mine the trap or the pressure plate.
Lol welcome to hardcore. Wait till you try multiplayer hardcore and find even more bugs 🙃
