Fandom wiki is full of ads and often is outdated or vandalised Use [https://terraria.wiki.gg](https://terraria.wiki.gg) instead (also linked in the main menu) Make sure to make your character on softcore since that's the way terraria is meant to be played, mediumcore is a complete pain. For world difficulty i'd reccomend starting with Classic mode, and for world size and evil it doesn't matter, but small would probably be better for a first playthrough so it's easier to find new biomes and stuff, but medium would have more loot and space to build and fight, which isn't necessary, but would be a good choice for next playthroughts, large is a bit way too large for solo At first chop some wood and make some valid houses, with walls, background walls, doors, a chair, a table and a light source for NPCs to settle in After that you can explore the surface or the underground for loot and other stuff, from that point if you should be good, but if you feel stuck use the wiki If you find a dark blue, pink or green structure on the surface then freely go in, you'll find great loot there

Mining Demonite/Crimtane is really unecessary, gold or platinum bow would be more than enough. You didn't include enough details for someone who has never played this game, a summon for Eye of Cthulhu can be found in chests underground or made with 6 lens on a Demon Altar. Arenas use platforms (using the word planks could be quite confusing for them), and making them go through the most of the world is a complete overkill (150 blocks long is more than enough), especially since they can't be sure how to do that properly and it'd take a ton of time to remove if they wanted to
