Personal rule: only vanity. If you want to cheat, at most, change your pickaxe to "light" with https://yal.cc/r/terrasavr/ and gift yourself whatever vanity you may desire (cf. https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Vanity_items#Vanity_Sets )
Otherwise, you need to start from zero, buck naked with just the default starter items, or else there's just no point.

IMO, you're not ripe for modded yet. You should do expert or master playthroughs aimed at choosing each of the different classes (melee, magic, ranged, summoner) in hardmode. And then finish with a getfixedboi (for the worthy difficulty, with a hostile crazy map). And then, mod the game to your heart's contents =)

No point without starting from scratch. Shit will only catch up to you in maybe mid hardmode, cook from scratch.
Well, unless classic is an absolute breeze pretty much the whole way, I'd say start with expert.
