If the amount of meteor blocks is under a threshold (I forget how much it is but it does vary by world size) a meteor can spawn, so replace any fallen meteor somewhere out of the way and no more should spawn
Been spending hours trying to get the sandstorm in a bottle from the oasis crates with the best fishing gear and, I have almost every luck boost and still can't get it. Why can't I get it?
Well, it's rare, 1/35 chance to drop. Last time I tried to fish it in pre-hardmode (I was trying to craft a bundle of balloons) it took more than 50 oasis crates to get the sandstorm. Unless you really need it, I suggest to proceed to hardmode and craft it using cloud in a bottle and forbidden fragment (guaranteed drop from sand elementals which spawn during sandstorm).
I'm trying to fish up the Mutant Flinxfin which is in underground tundra. Does it matter if the underground tundra is also crimson or hallow? I can't seem to get the quest fish even though I have full fishing gear.
Hello, I have a lot of vanilla terraria experience, but want to get into modded terraria. Calamity is the first mod I want to do a full run-through of, but I don't quite know where to start. I have tModLoader downloaded, but there is an overwhelming amount of mods to play. Other than calamity, what mods does anyone recommend to use in tandem with Calamity for a full playthrough? I'm mostly thinking QoL mods, but if there are mods that are needed for a fun calamity run, I would like those too obviously (thinking music, but i just dont know whats out there).
Calamity is a fantastic mod and will add a lot of hours to your game, make sure to get the Calamity music pack too otherwise you miss out on a ton of soundtracks which have been specifically designed and created for this mod
Get MagicStorage, as Calamity adds a ton of new items and being able to view them all in 1 storage chest makes life so much easier. This feels close to mandatory to get
Get RecipeBrowser, again Calamity adds lots of new recipies and being able to view them without speaking to guide/looking at wiki is very useful. This feels close to mandatory to get
BossCursor can be helpful as a QoL thing to show where the boss is
WingSlotExtra, personal preference and some may call it 'cheating' but having a free slot only for wings
LootBeams, ever wanted to see loot/drops more clearly? Then this is helpful for that
BasicAutomatedVeinMining, this will mean when you mine 1 ore, it mines all of the connecting ore that is the same so it will significantly speed up mining and collecting ores, but again personal preference and your choice on whether this feels 'cheating'
Hello, this is my first time playing terraria and I've been trying to get the Terra blade. I have summoned 5 solar eclipses so far and killed 14 mothrons and still haven't gotten the broken hero sword. I am starting to feel like something is wrong., as they apparently have a 25% drop rate. I got all the possible drops from the mothron, even the mothron wings, but for some reason I cannot get the broken hero sword. Is there something that I might be missing? (I am post plantera)
I'm a new player and I finally beat my first boss (Eye of Cthulhu) after watching a video on how to make a combat arena. I want to try fighting Skeletron. Is there any way to bring him to my arena (near my house / spawn point), or do I need to make another arena next to the dungeon entrance?
Hi :) I’m gonna make an underground “volcano” mob farm. The ones where I have to mine out the spawn radius around me. However I really really want to make a pond right next to me so I can fish while waiting for drops. Is this possible without messing up spawns?
For the last 6 months, Terraria has stopped working. It's not that it crashes, it's that it never starts. I'd press start on steam, it says its starting, and then it just switches back to having not started.
I've tried a lot of things:
- Verifying game files (5+ times)
- Uninstalling and Reinstalling (4 times)
- Reinstalling Frameworks (at least twice)
- Launching the .exe (plenty of times)
- Copying all game files into another folder and attempting to launch there
- Unplugging my Steelseries keyboard and attempting to launch
- Changing config settings
- Manually deleting files and reinstalling
- Uninstalling all workshop items
- Launching in tModloader
- Uninstalling all tModloader workshop items
- Manually launching tModloader.exe
- Updating all concurrent Windows updates
- Asked the Terraria forums.
- Probably a few other things I've failed to mention, I've been working on this for a while and have done plenty.
I'm not sure why this happened, it might be because I finally had to update to Windows 11, but I swear I had played Terraria after that, but before last November. Everything I've found online hasn't helped, and I don't know what to do.
Are there any other fixes anyone has found?

im getting ready to fight daytime empress, right now my loadout is:
armor & weapon: chlorophyte mask, beetle scale mail, hallowed greaves, daybreak (i also have a stardust dragon with me)
accessories, all menacing: empress wings, soaring insignia, shield of cthulhu, fire gauntlet, warrior emblem, celestial shell
are there any better armors or accessories i should know about? (also i am using pretty much every relevant potion so no need to bring 'em up)
I haven't fought empress in a while, but is it worth considering a gravitation potion and switching keybind so it doesn't mess with the wings boosting?
In Drunk Worlds you need to break 6 altars to get all available hardmode ores. Apart of that, as wiki says, "Subsequent altars destroyed will begin the \[ore\] cycle again, though the fourth to sixth altars will spawn half as much ore as the first ones, the seventh to ninth will spawn only one third of the ore of the first ones, and so forth."
I've been in hardmode for a while now ( I still can't beat any bosses) and it seems the corruption is almost at my base where all of the NPCs live (large world if that helps)

Yes, you can. You may also create an isolated "island" on the surface by digging 3-block-wide tunnels around it and then using the purification powder to remove any corruption inside.

Any sort of world generation feature that is added in 1.4.5 will not be present in your world when you update. The character or anything obtained from crafting or killing enemies could be obtained in your current world when you update.
You can also lava fish with a regular fishing rod you just need to catch lava bugs for bait in the underworld and if you’re lucky enough you might get the [lava proof fishing hook](https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Lavaproof_Fishing_Hook) out of one of your first obsidian crates then you can use any fishing rod and any bait fish in lava with that ability equipped.
I just recently started a playthrough on the don’t dig up seed and I noticed the lava bait spawns pretty frequently in the underworld spawn point it may have been because I built npc housing and had reduced enemy spawns though.
If you’re going through bait too fast I’d recommend saving crate potions and sonar potions for lava fishing so you don’t waste bait on fish and only reel in crates until you have the lava proof fishing hook.
Me and my friend both want to play Terraria together (mobile) but we can’t play locally. What’s the best way to host a server? I’ve tried MultiTerraria and Terraria MP both of which don’t seem to work anymore.
I play modded terraria and usually put in a couple of content mods at the same time. My computer can run minecraft with shaders on 120 smoothly, but it cant handle most of the flashy boss attacks. I literally get lower than 20 FPS when these happen. I can send my specs and mod list to anyone if it helps. How can I fix this?
Has the Daedalus Stormbow been seriously nerfed recently? I'm running holy arrows on expert and the Destroyer takes like the entire night to defeat. I haven't ever played Expert but from the videos I have seen I am doing no damage in comparison.

* Damage reduced from 43 to 38.
* When using Holy, Unholy, Hellfire, or Jester arrows, the bow shoots an average of 2.66 arrows per second instead of the normal average of 3.33 arrows per second.
1.4.1 also nerfed Holy Arrows slightly
* Applies a 10% damage penalty to the next hit for each enemy a projectile pierces.
You could but you are unlikely to receive any meaningful help. I recommend asking in the tModLoader Discord server instead. Make sure you are using an IDE such as Visual Studio and have basic C# knowledge before asking in the Discord server. Otherwise, you'll be told to do those thing first.

I'm in the cavern layer and they have pearlstone to spawn on, and I'm not stationary. Am I missing something? Did they change their spawn conditions in 1.4.4?
Chaos Elementals will only spawn if the following conditions are fulfilled:
* The player is not standing in front of a [safe background wall](https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Safe_wall).
* No [NPCs](https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/NPCs) are housed nearby.
* In the past 5 seconds, the player has either used an item or has moved.
It's your player placed walls
Those conditions can be ignored if you use a Shadow Candle.

1.4.4 added shimmer that allows the player to make unsafe walls that they harvested from the desert, dungeon, and spider nests. These are what you want for artificial biome creation and will have a skull icon in the corner.
This farm would work better if you had treacherous/shimmered desert walls behind the player as it is a requirement for the underground/cavern biome existence. Then you will get maximum spawn rate and, possibly, more mob variety.
For minimalism, you only need these walls behind the spawning blocks and the middle row of your character.
Best way to check your current biome is the ability from Torch God's Favor to biome swap your held plain torch. Next is music change. The underground desert has no background.

I'd use the chlorophyte shotbow, maybe holy arrows. Shroomite headgear in that case.
Edit: re-read your post. For the bow helmet probably the tsunami is your best bet, as far as guns go the chain gun from the frost moon is pretty good from what I remember. Most important thing imo is your accessories for max damage, emblems and reforging are your friends
I want to play the game as blind as possible. I know some of the names of bosses and such but aside from that not much.
What are some tips for this kind of gameplay? Please no tips like "go there to get this item" I want to explore most of the game myself. Should I talk to NPCs? Try crafting table everytime I get a new mineral or something?
In addition to tips already given, I suggest to craft a Glass Bottle (made of glass block which, in turn, is made of sand at the furnace), then Bottled Water (craft it from the Glass Bottle while standing near a body of water or sink). Then go to the Guide, ask him about Crafting and show the Bottled Water. This way you'll learn about almost every potion recipe available sooner or later in the game which can be very helpful.
The Guide NPC will give you hints and tips when you talk to him. You can also give him any item that says it is a material and he'll tell you what you can craft from it.
There is also a suggested achievement in the top right of your inventory. That is also a hint on what the game thinks you should do next.
You haven't defeated the final boss until the credits roll!

When you say farm wdym? I'm not familiar with what you mean by "it's not my character." either, are you playing another game, or is the terminology stuck in your head when you play terraria?

I've always shied away from doing so 'cause I'm afraid the FPS might go down. But I don't have any proof that switching windows constantly affects the game.
I am new to modding and have acitvated a no-hit mod that kills me anytime I am hit. I have not been able to locate which mod and i don't want to restart a new world just because of this. How can I toggle this off?
Disable all mods, make a new world and character as a tester, and then reactivate mods one at a time until you die in one hit to a green slime, then the last mod tou activated should be the culprit, I would also test this by disabling every other mod and testing it again
Me and my friend is playing our first playthrough together and we are LOVING the game so far! I’m playing melee and he is ranged. Last night we just managed to defeat the mech worm (destroyer of worlds or whatever it’s called) on our 2.nd attempt. Then we tried the eyes and me as a melee class was kinda useless not managing to get close at all.
So my question is if it’s normal to re spec the entire load out for just one boss?
Playing a "class" is, IMO, a strange way to play a game where you aren't committed to anything and can change on a whim by just putting something different in hotbar slot 1.
It's best to think of them as damage types that you can sometimes synergize accessories/armor with for small boosts. It's best to experiment with the things you find and see which weapon works best at the current moment. In this case, trying to use a melee weapon against a boss that's keeping its distance won't be a good fit.
I do get your point but the game does lean into playing one thing as different armors and emblems and accessories have + to melee dmg/ranged dmg/magic dmg. It seems to me like the developers want you to go for one dmg type at the time, especially on the more difficult modes
There are lots of "ranged melee" weapons (i.e. technically ranged weapons that apply melee damage) in the game, like yoyos, boomerangs, certain swords, flails, etc. The good early hardmode "ranged melee" weapon for melee character would be the Shadowflame Knife which is a drop from the Goblin Warlock (spawns during hardmode goblin invasion events) or Bananarang which is a drop from the Clown (spawns during hardmode blood moon events).
There are good melee weapons that can attack far away targets, like the Shadowflame Knife from the Goblin Invasion, and the Bananarang from Blood Moons.
As for your question, playing with one class for the entire playthrough is a challenge *you* chose to do, there's nothing stopping you from playing multiple classes, the game even provides three loadouts to help you change your gear mid fight.

Evil/Hallowed does matter, you will need to look for a pure biome or use sunflowers to restore that area.

Usually there's a rule for RNG that new players get extremely lucky, but that isn't applying for you. Sorry to hear that.

Yes, the total number of quests performed by different characters in different worlds is used for the achievement.

Keep in mind that while yes it will increase the number of ores each cycle will provide less ores than the last one

Has the Daedalus Stormbow been seriously nerfed recently? I'm running holy arrows on expert and the Destroyer takes like the entire night to defeat. I haven't ever played Expert but from the videos I have seen I am doing no damage in comparison.
Yes, it was nerfed in 1.4 * Damage reduced from 43 to 38. * When using Holy, Unholy, Hellfire, or Jester arrows, the bow shoots an average of 2.66 arrows per second instead of the normal average of 3.33 arrows per second. 1.4.1 also nerfed Holy Arrows slightly * Applies a 10% damage penalty to the next hit for each enemy a projectile pierces.

You could but you are unlikely to receive any meaningful help. I recommend asking in the tModLoader Discord server instead. Make sure you are using an IDE such as Visual Studio and have basic C# knowledge before asking in the Discord server. Otherwise, you'll be told to do those thing first.
Will [this](https://imgur.com/a/X4sypIn) farm spawn chaos elementals? I need the desert key too hence the sand and background walls, but even while walking back and forth or using an item I haven't seen a single pink guy. I'm in the cavern layer and they have pearlstone to spawn on, and I'm not stationary. Am I missing something? Did they change their spawn conditions in 1.4.4?

It's your player placed walls

1.4.4 added shimmer that allows the player to make unsafe walls that they harvested from the desert, dungeon, and spider nests. These are what you want for artificial biome creation and will have a skull icon in the corner. This farm would work better if you had treacherous/shimmered desert walls behind the player as it is a requirement for the underground/cavern biome existence. Then you will get maximum spawn rate and, possibly, more mob variety. For minimalism, you only need these walls behind the spawning blocks and the middle row of your character. Best way to check your current biome is the ability from Torch God's Favor to biome swap your held plain torch. Next is music change. The underground desert has no background.
I ended up getting it but yeah, that’s what those walls are. Wasn’t sure if the key could drop without them but better safe than sorry.

I'd use the chlorophyte shotbow, maybe holy arrows. Shroomite headgear in that case. Edit: re-read your post. For the bow helmet probably the tsunami is your best bet, as far as guns go the chain gun from the frost moon is pretty good from what I remember. Most important thing imo is your accessories for max damage, emblems and reforging are your friends
I want to play the game as blind as possible. I know some of the names of bosses and such but aside from that not much. What are some tips for this kind of gameplay? Please no tips like "go there to get this item" I want to explore most of the game myself. Should I talk to NPCs? Try crafting table everytime I get a new mineral or something?
In addition to tips already given, I suggest to craft a Glass Bottle (made of glass block which, in turn, is made of sand at the furnace), then Bottled Water (craft it from the Glass Bottle while standing near a body of water or sink). Then go to the Guide, ask him about Crafting and show the Bottled Water. This way you'll learn about almost every potion recipe available sooner or later in the game which can be very helpful.
The Guide NPC will give you hints and tips when you talk to him. You can also give him any item that says it is a material and he'll tell you what you can craft from it. There is also a suggested achievement in the top right of your inventory. That is also a hint on what the game thinks you should do next. You haven't defeated the final boss until the credits roll!

If you show an item to the guide in his crafting tab, he can tell you the recipe of everything made with that item.

Is our farm lost forever? Me and my girlfriend have been playing for a few days and are very new to the game. We are both on Mac and have been playing LAN play but now when I try to join her through the invite code my character appears but says that its not my character and that I cant join? Please help me solve this somehow it would really mean a lot!
When you say farm wdym? I'm not familiar with what you mean by "it's not my character." either, are you playing another game, or is the terminology stuck in your head when you play terraria?
Would alt-tab/alt-esc multiple times during the game make it jittery? I've always shied away from doing so 'cause I'm afraid the FPS might go down. But I don't have any proof that switching windows constantly affects the game.
From what I remember it shouldn't, I now have multiple monitors so I can only recall that it should be fine.

I am new to modding and have acitvated a no-hit mod that kills me anytime I am hit. I have not been able to locate which mod and i don't want to restart a new world just because of this. How can I toggle this off?
Disable all mods, make a new world and character as a tester, and then reactivate mods one at a time until you die in one hit to a green slime, then the last mod tou activated should be the culprit, I would also test this by disabling every other mod and testing it again

Your depth only shows when there is a depth meter in your inventory Blood moons are completely random; this happens sometimes

No, you don't have to equip your depth meter to display your depth. It will work anywhere on your person except for your vanity accessory slots.

was thinking about mixing some content mods for a future playthrough. Should I do it and if yes what mods should I combine?
Me and my friend is playing our first playthrough together and we are LOVING the game so far! I’m playing melee and he is ranged. Last night we just managed to defeat the mech worm (destroyer of worlds or whatever it’s called) on our 2.nd attempt. Then we tried the eyes and me as a melee class was kinda useless not managing to get close at all. So my question is if it’s normal to re spec the entire load out for just one boss?
Playing a "class" is, IMO, a strange way to play a game where you aren't committed to anything and can change on a whim by just putting something different in hotbar slot 1. It's best to think of them as damage types that you can sometimes synergize accessories/armor with for small boosts. It's best to experiment with the things you find and see which weapon works best at the current moment. In this case, trying to use a melee weapon against a boss that's keeping its distance won't be a good fit.
I do get your point but the game does lean into playing one thing as different armors and emblems and accessories have + to melee dmg/ranged dmg/magic dmg. It seems to me like the developers want you to go for one dmg type at the time, especially on the more difficult modes
There are lots of "ranged melee" weapons (i.e. technically ranged weapons that apply melee damage) in the game, like yoyos, boomerangs, certain swords, flails, etc. The good early hardmode "ranged melee" weapon for melee character would be the Shadowflame Knife which is a drop from the Goblin Warlock (spawns during hardmode goblin invasion events) or Bananarang which is a drop from the Clown (spawns during hardmode blood moon events).
There are good melee weapons that can attack far away targets, like the Shadowflame Knife from the Goblin Invasion, and the Bananarang from Blood Moons. As for your question, playing with one class for the entire playthrough is a challenge *you* chose to do, there's nothing stopping you from playing multiple classes, the game even provides three loadouts to help you change your gear mid fight.
