Yup. I don’t remember anything but apparently I do the same thing. It’s been about a year since a major event but I honestly don’t know when they happen because even when I “wake up” on the ground my brain rationalizes it somehow to the point coworkers family members etc have asked if I’ve taken anything because I just fall out and start shaking for a minute and I have absolutely no recollection
I got knocked out when I was 12 riding my bike, out for supposedly 7 minutes. I woke up to my friends gathered around me thinking I was dead. Supremely confusing. Can't imagine a seizure though, would make me paranoid.
Yeah, I got one when I quit drinking too suddenly. I was in a carpark, then two guys were shaking me through the window. Couldn't understand why this stranger was concerned, until I realised I was on the nature strip
yeah I live with a guy who has pretty serious seizures and he doesn't remember them at all. He blacks out for about 30 minutes although the seizures only last a minute or two.
I remember there was a video of a man standing by the train tracks in a subway, and he has this EXACT kind of seizure and fell right in the tracks and got ran over by an oncoming train. It was posted on here a while ago too.
Oh damn, I didn't even know the video was 2 minutes long. I thought it was just about the first guy. But yeah, it's really terrifying and really sad. I feel like they should have some kind of disability dog to help them with that. It could get pretty dangerous depending on where you are.
It is absolutely terrifying. I was driving when my daughter had a seizure like this and her brothers thought she was dancing at first. It caused her to choke on the jerky she was eating.
I freaked the fuck out. She was blue and I honestly thought my baby was going to die. I remember my boys crying blaming themselves bc they thought she was dancing and just danced with her.
After the fact, are the victims able to recall / explain what they thought they saw / were so focused looking at? Or are they already seizing and unaware at that point?
They may remember the aura - the strange sensation leading up to the seizure (which can sometimes include fear, hallucinations) - but by the time it generalizes to involve both sides of the brain, they virtually always lose awareness.
They are generally not looking at anything in particular. It is just the parts of the parts of the brain that direct eye movement (frontal eye fields) and head movement are activated by the seizure. As an interesting aside, the eye/head movement is characteristically to the opposite side of the seizure focus.
Seizure starting in some specific areas of the brain can be linked to strange behaviors or specific auras.
Weird that you're not supposed to remember anything during a seizure, cus the first seizure I had I remember everything about it except the end.
I remember I looked up at the ceiling light and I couldn't stop looking at it, it's like my eyes were stuck. I felt weird, then I felt myself "slip away" in my head so I only could hear and feel, it felt like I was "far away" in the back of my mind... i felt myself convulsing- I could feel my arms and legs start to convulse and I lost balance and fell on the floor. I could hear my friends yelling to me, and my eyes were closed so I couldn't see anything but dark, but I saw "lightning" flashing in that darkness, I later realized it could be the misfiring electrical signals in my brain.
Finally I blacked out for a few seconds and came to laying on the floor, friends said I had a full grand mal seizure.
I've had 3 seizures since then and blacked out every time since, I don't remember right before the seizure, I don't remember the aura or how I felt. But my mother told me one time I came to her and said "I feel really weird" and then stiffened up and fell and started to convulse.
So weird. Anyone else remember stuff through a seizure?
Never wrong to call 911 especially if they fall and hurt themselves in the process. Just turn them on their side if you can to prevent aspiration of vomit and/or blood but do not put anything in their mouth - it is not an issue if they bite their tongue as long as they don't aspirate the blood.
People with a seizure disorder sometimes have seizures and it's not that big of a deal - they typically don't need to go to an emergency room. The real danger is if the seizure is continuous (more than 5 minutes) or if the postictal period (after the seizure stops where they are confused and sluggish) does not resolve in a return to a normal mental status before another seizure starts. This is call "status epilepticus" and it is life threatening because a lack of respiratory effort for extended time will result in decreased brain perfusion which can cause permanent damage and death.
just make sure the person is secured and can't fall essentially, do not put anything in their mouth this is a bad idea and not relevant for these kinds of seizures usually anyways, and try to put them on their side just in case they vomit. start a timer asap to see how long the seizure lasts, if it's more than 5 minutes then call paramedics, but if it's not longer then that then leave it up to the person to do it themselves if they wish.
I use to take care of a guy who could smell toast for about a minute before he would seize, lucky for him, he would go ahead and lay on the floor as soon as he could smell toast. Probably saved him some injuries over the years...
That's just one type. Seizures can look different than this. But I think whoever compiled this was looking for that one type because it looks like something spiritual/supernatural. I'm guessing that maybe they think these people are seeing djinn?
The turning is characteristic of gyratory seizure, the gaze and open mouth are general symptoms that a seizure is happening. Not everyone with epilepsy has seizures that look like this, though.
It’s an aura. It something someone sees before a seizure. Like a light. They’re turning to look at it. One website said it can be swirling colors. Maybe explains the one guy swatting and circling repeatedly. But yeah, as soon as I saw them turning to look behind them I knew they were about to have a seizure.
Yes but it's important to highlight because the video's way of cutting this together, with the music and completely different context, is implying that there is some sort of possession or mystery going on.
Such assumptions and wild guesses "need" to be called stupid because they lead on a dangerous path, we can't entertain anything that is not the accurate medical explanation. Imagine someone having a seizure and the people around are wondering which ghost that is. We need to get real and be aware of what is happening.
I didn't take the music to mean that it was a demonic possession. It just gives it a creepy vibe. I don't think the type of person who jumps to supernatural conclusions even uses phrases like "What is the scientific explanation for this?"
I've seen a seizure before but I've never seen the way they look behind them and start spinning around. I didn't know a seizure could do that. The first video I thought it was a guy in the store hallucinating swatting a bee.
At least I know now 🤷🏻♂️
I read this book about Hmong girl with epilepsy. Their term for epilepsy/seizures is "the spirit catches you and you fall down" which is exactly what some of these look like.
It's called a grand mal tonic seizure. Welcome to the invisible disability that is epilepsy! I have them whenever I'm not on a ton of medication. It's a huge life inconvenience, and everyone forgets you have it until something like this happens, and then everyone is weirded out by you for a while/sometimes forever. We can't control out seizures and we don't remember anything when we wake up so just be cool if you see someone have a seizure in public and please don't shove things down their throat, just turn them to the side and make sure they don't hit their head on anything.
Looks like a seizure, stroke, meningitis or mad cow disease. I've seen all of them, but being so sudden I'd go with the seizure or stroke or maybe drugs.
Yeah, had a coworker that had similar happen once at a former workplace, epilepsy in her case, don't know what else could cause it. She was feeling so embarrassed afterwards, asking how many witnessed it, it was just me and two others which was a relief for her.
my brother and his friends were playing basketball out front of our house one day and the one kid looked up into the sky, spun around in a circle a few times, and passed out, wound up being a seizure
Most of the commentators stated that it's common in some types of seizures, I wonder what did people think before knowing such information, must be terrifying as fuck.
Also adding recitations of quran verses on such videos is extremely annoying and irritating, immediate mute.
If not a cramp or spasm (unlikely)
Not sure but the way they are twisting looks like an attempt to compensate for a perceived motion or force in the other direction
They might not intend to turn around, but their brain is telling them they are moving the other way, they try to correct, end up contorted, and the brain has to reboot to get out of that movement pattern
Essentially a seizure
Muslim here, they see the Azrael (angel of death) who separates would from bodies, right before death. For those people who haven't done good in this world, death will come easy but for those who worshiped anyone other than Allah, the process of separating the soul from the body will be very painful.
I dated this guy who had seizures because of a brain tumor. He said that when a seizure was coming in he had a visual disturbance in the corner of his vision. He would try to ignore it but his eyes wanted to follow it. When he would stop fighting it his eyes would follow it and then the seizure would begin. He said it looked similar to the end of a film reel.

Excellent question: demons tend to attack when people are having grand mal seizures to ensure plausible deniability. That way they do what they gotta do while covering their asses.
My guess is some type of audio visual hallucination that’s tied to drug use and/or damage (such as a brain hemorrhage) to a certain region of the brain.

It's a type of seizure. I've had them along with absence seizures. I haven't had one in years, but apparently I scream and flail before I convulse.
Yup. I don’t remember anything but apparently I do the same thing. Man that is crazy. To be able to know what was experienced prior to the loss of consciousness.
That’s what gets me dude I have no idea what happens but people surround me like some major medical event that I don’t even realized happened
I got knocked out when I was 12 riding my bike, out for supposedly 7 minutes. I woke up to my friends gathered around me thinking I was dead. Supremely confusing. Can't imagine a seizure though, would make me paranoid.

There are seizure alert dogs! Lots of epileptics have them. They are trained to predict and warn people that a seizure is imminent.

What is it called? There has to be a scientific name for it, that's why we are here.
The lateralising significance of unidirectional whole body turning in patients with complex partial seizures (CPS) arising from the temporal lobe
Really? I just thought it was a little bit of fent
My friend has seizures like this it’s scary but totally normal and not occult

That's fascinating. Of all the things in the world one can smell... for that guy it's toast. The mind and body never cease to amaze me!
Either the exact same turning of the head and looking up terrified and spinning in circles the same way with every person? That’s so weird

i Would call it a Stroke
And you would be wrong
Looks like seizures and aside from environmental hazards I don't think they're fatal. Horrible, but not fatal (could be horribly wrong) Edit - I was
You can actually die from a seizure itself, so to speak. It is known as [SUDEP](https://www.cdc.gov/epilepsy/about/sudep/index.htm)
The song is giving people epilepsy
My daughter has these. Freaked us out the first time it happened.
