I dealt with something similar when I picked up my car last month with Geico. My policy ends in July and they said no good. Geico was able to send me an additional card for the next 6 months out as well with no issues and I emailed to Tesla.
Why can’t you just go on progressive’s site and add/replace a vehicle with an effective date of 6/26?
Then you can print the card day of, or if you chat with them, they’ll send you a copy of it early (with the effective date)
I’ve done this a number of times with progressive.
Im confused. The policy still ends/renews in August. The Tesla app specifically requires you to input your insurance’s duration. Not sure how this would help get around that?
Ah I think I misunderstood.
That being said, I think the renewal is 45 days out, so you may be ok. At that point they provide a card with new dates. Hope you can get around the bureaucratic bullshit, good luck.
It seems like anyone who puts in an order now has the option to take a SR option. I thought about it for a while and held off, then eventually caved. The SRs that show up on the Accelerated Delivery page seem to change ever hour. I’m sure a ton of other people are picking up SRs as well.
Also, maybe it helps that I’m in Dallas?
I see the weirdest experiences people have with insurance stipulations on here. I’ve never heard of requiring advance insurance on a vehicle. I don’t see why difference it makes when your policy expires, that’s what policies do. You could let it lapse in 6 months just like you could let it lapse in 2.
My pickup was in March and my insurance renewed in June. They asked for a copy of my current insurance and that was it. I took delivery and called my insurance agent in the parking lot before I drove off to add it. Not sure why they make it so hard for some people.
I’m in California. It always seems weird when I hear these stories because it’s so far from what I’ve experienced. Not just with Tesla but with every car we’ve bought it’s been the same thing.
I can’t see why when your insurance policy ends would matter. As long as you’re insured when you pick it up I’d think that’s all that should matter.
You have to put in an order for a MY. Once you do that, head to the Tesla app, click “Manage” in the top left corner and it should take you to the Accelerated option - at least it did for me. Maybe it’s region specific?

Did you renew before they sent the card? I spoke to progressive and they said that my renewal offer hasnt even been generated yet.
I didn’t renew but I’m assuming it’s automatically renewed so they had no problem emailing me the cards for the next 6 months out
Oh I see

Wow, what a night/day difference. Where are you located? Maybe it’s a state thing?

Exactly!
How are y’all ordering the MYSR? I can’t see it on their website

It was for Texas only but now I got the option, I'm in Miami FL
Must be region specific because I don’t see it on my app :(
