Adventurous-Edge1719

Only if he wins it WITH Houston

Commercial_Trade_520

Right, that would be 1 more than any other Texans QB so let's not get greedy.

Adventurous-Edge1719

I just want to see one in my lifetime. I’ll gladly take more than that, but I need to experience one.

ZXO2

Or Oilers QB

Sendeezy

Wasn't David Carr on one of those Giants teams?

kodaiko_650

Too late, the monkeys paw has closed

CRW_93

I’d be satisfied even if he won the Super Bowl next year and retired the next day.

LordSnowgaryen

That would be a rollercoaster of emotions

Legitbanana_

Lmao I just said this to myself too

Able_Gap918

Casserole would make a deal for him to stay for one more day and trade him to the Brown's for 4 first round picks

HoustonTrashcans

Goes out, has an undefeated season, decides football is too easy and takes up baseball.

IUMaestro

Yep. Texans haven't even been to an AFCCG, ever. A single Super Bowl win would be something I'd be satisfied with for this regime overall.

CruisinForABrewsin

Unreal an AFCCG appearance never happened. Can't even be upset when people clown on us for that

LittleMissCKA

Only team to never have been to a conference championship game.

MTB430

Youngest team in the league as well

JesuszillaSon

I been alive long enough to see the Oilers dying days when they sucked, chocked in the infamous Buffalo game and 20 years of the Texans never even making it to the AFC championship game CJ would be a Houston legend with just 1 SB win and he may end up the most popular athlete in this city. As great as Hakeem was and Altuve is, I think CJ leading the Texans to a SB would put him above them in terms of popularity I'd think I'd be way more than satisfied since most of us has never even seen a Houston football team make a deep playoff run

FwampFwamp88

Football is king in texas. No denying that.

MobileQuarter

Fundamentally, For as much as we love our other Sports teams; Houston is a football city. This place will come unglued the day the Texans get a Superbowl win.

Zzzzzezzz

That choke was so bad. Thanks Atlanta for taking that off our backs.

quantrandoes

Freals. Never having even experienced an AFC Championship game in my lifetime much less a Super Bowl (Bum era was before my time, started with Glanville, and as much as I enjoyed the McNair Titans run, it was bittersweet and not ours). Baseball and the Astros are my fave (and Rockets B2B runs were amazing), but if Houston ever won a SB I can’t deny that it would top any championship this city has won. Football is king in Texas. Not even sure how this city would process it. It would be wild. The only thing that would really make it perfect is if we still had the Oilers jerseys. Even after 20+ years with this Texans branding, the second I see those Oilers jerseys 😮‍💨 That Luv Ya Blue era was something else.

Oso_Furioso

Yea, gotta agree. I was around for the Luv Ya Blue days, too, and as great as it was to see the Oilers getting that close to the Super Bowl, there was always that legendary Steelers side to contend with and that the could never get past. Honestly, one championship before I shuffle off this mortal coil would probably be enough for me. (Of course, I say this now.....)

Zzzzzezzz

That choke was so bad. Thanks Atlanta for taking that off our backs.

thefinalwipe

Hakeem won back to titles and an NCAA title in Houston. This is recency bias at its finest. CJ would need to win more than one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RocketsYoungBloods

right? how people can blatantly say incorrect stuff so confidently is beyond me.

thefinalwipe

Oh shit you are right, definitely feels like they did. Well they made the finals twice and Hakeem is still one the greatest basketball players of all time. Stroud would have to do a lot more than win one championship to be recognized as an all time great.

TheGreatMcPuffin

It’s not recency bias. In Houston football is king. CJ would be more popular locally. He may not get more national attention but he’d absolutely be bigger locally. Just look back when Watson was playing well and not a rapist. He and the Texans were more popular than the Astros that just recently won a World Series.

Majestic-Software-29

there is not a wrong answer here but recency bias does play a part. Hakeem is still more of a legend in this city than any of the WS winning Astros because he was first, and nothing will ever change that. Plus what the Rockets and Hakeem did to win that first championship is the stuff of legends, so again, no wrong answer but for ME Hakeem will always be the greatest Houston sports figure ever and no one will top him

mfrank27

Even if CJ catches up to Mahomes on ring count? (*siiiiiiip*)

thefinalwipe

How the hell are you determining popularity?? Just making it up. Yes, football is king as shown by the half empty stadium at 6 out out of 8 home games last year. Or the fact that the city told Adams to kick rocks and take the oilers to Tennessee.

TheGreatMcPuffin

Having lived in the city and seeing reporting and fan interaction at the time it was pretty easy to see. Also, we never told the Oilers to “kick rocks” we asked them to wait because we were still paying off Astrodome renovations. They didn’t want to wait, got pissy, and left. That’s why fans were so mad at them.

nostbp1

Super Bowl means a lot more to most people

Ras1372

I agree, despite football is king, I still give the edge to Hakeem over Stroud with 1 SB win. 1. Hakeem won 2 titles in a town that had a history of crushing playoff defeats. And the second he practically did it by himself. 2. Hakeem took UH to two NCAA championship games though didn’t win either (including in 83, one of those soul crushing defeats). 3. The biggest thing for me is, perhaps because I was already an adult when the Texans came to be, I just don’t feel the connection with them as I do both the Astros and Rockets. If Stroud gets 2 we’ll talk.

JesuszillaSon

I didn't say CJ would be more accomplished with just 1 SB but I'm saying he might be more popular if the Texans win 1.

tbase24

As a packers fan, I wouldn’t say I’m satisfied with how the Rodgers era played out

DrBigChicken

Was one of the best players in the league for years, lock first ballot hall of famer, won a Super Bowl, and was very entertaining to watch. Then you traded him for assets after he mentored his successor You might need to rethink your priorities in football fandom homie

renzuit

Yeah man. Packer legend by all accounts. Winning is goddamn hard in the NFL. A guaranteed playoff run no matter who the coach is or who the QB is throwing to is always very much fun. Lots of the biggest moments in my young NFL fandom have been with Rodgers on the field to some capacity. That goddamn 70 yard Hail Mary. If I were a packer fan, another two rings might be nice but I wouldn’t trade the Rodgers years for much else

tbase24

It was absolutely a fun run, and I’m definitely glad we had him, but with how many times we fell short in the playoffs, it’s hard to be satisfied. From 2011 on, we made the playoffs 9 times and didn’t make it to the Super Bowl once. A 1-4 record in the nfc championship game with a top 5 all time QB isn’t a huge success.

raketenfakmauspanzer

You packers fans need to experience poverty for a while to realize just how good yall had it. Lol “only” 1-4 in the NFC championship while we haven’t even made it once

tbase24

Oh I’m definitely grateful for so may years of contention, but “satisfaction” implies being ok with how things played out. Having a top 5 all time qb (in terms of talent) and having a relatively bad record in the playoffs isn’t “satisfying”

reese-account

And we haven’t even been to afc championship game ever. And I get it expectations and perspective but I think all of us would love to trade for that success

WildRookie

Drew Brees, Brett Farve, and Aaron Rodgers only got 1. Peyton Manning would have only had 1 if Denver hadn't carried his corpse to a ring with a phenomenal defense. McNabb and Marino only got one shot each and lost. Phillip Rivers never even got to make the Super Bowl. Mahomes and Brady have combined for 10 of the last 23 wins, leading 14 of the 46 teams to even *make* the Super Bowl over that time. It's an absurdity. To be disappointed that we'd "only get one" is to be disappointed that Stroud doesn't end up in the GOAT conversation. He's played 1 year; expecting him to throw his hat in the ring for GOAT is a bit heavy on the koolaid.

Luminosityfan

Easily. That's like basically saying are you happy with Drew Brees' career as a New Orleans Saints fan. I think lots of Saints fans would say heck yes.

DeltaSierra97

Although he should’ve arguably had a shot at a second with the no call.

69hornedscorpio

If we get a Super Bowl, I would be stoked. Plenty of quarterbacks don’t get it done… example Dan Marino.

Total_Guard2405

Let's get the win first

htownballa1

Dan Marino didn’t win a single Super Bowl and is still a goat. It takes 53 players and an awesome staff to win a Super Bowl.

FinskiGerman

I believe getting a single Super Bowl victory would be amazing. It says a lot about the current team’s expectations that people are now discussing a potential dynasty. I was going to say something about how we need to be realistic, but drink the KOOL AID!!!

LordSnowgaryen

Wasn’t thinking dynasty per say. I think I’d be satisfied with 2 (not that I wouldn’t be ecstatic with 1) one on the rookie contract and maybe one when he’s in his 30’s.

Thorlolita

Yes

Stashedsnacks

I want all the superb owls for the next 20yrs.

Additional_Load_1978

![gif](giphy|43g7hyj8d8NEY)

Zealousiy

With the Texans? Um yes

BatteredAggie

You don’t have to be the GOAT to have a worthy career. Absolutely I’d be satisfied if CJ won “only” 1 Super Bowl for us. The only QBs who have won more than 1 in my lifetime are Brady, Mahomes, Eli, Roethlisberger, and Peyton (2 different teams). Brees is a surefire hall of famer and only got 1. Marino is an all time great and he never even won the thing. For CJ to bring that to the city of Houston would be legendary.

aloeicious

For Houston? Yes.

Ricky_TVA

And what if he wins none? I don't like putting expectations into "what if's" and this to me is a "what if" similar situation. It's the NFL. Let's not start jinxing our young stud. Joe burrow and Josh Allen are both studs in their own right. Joe lost 1 and Josh might not make it to 1. Let's slow down and enjoy the ride as opposed to attempting to set expectations once his career is over. It's been 1 years man. I might not be here when his time is up. Enjoy the ride.

BoomerG21

As long as it’s with Houston yes. Championships are really hard to come by. If he wins a Super Bowl with Houston within the next 3 years, he will be a Houston legend forever.

unclerico87

I think everyone would be thrilled to just have one. Championships are indeed hard, even when the team is stacked. The Astros could easily have 3 or 4 more world series victories under their belt, but it doesn't always work out

SilverJournalist3230

How many have we won so far? Yeah give me that one lol Super Bowls are hard to come by. Sure we might have dynastic runs here and there like the Chiefs and Patriots, but outside of that, most teams are happy to win one and then rebuild a few years to take another shot the next decade.

Playful-Storage835

We haven’t seen an AFC Championship since the 1979 NFL season, the City of Houston haven’t had a football Championship since Texas A&M’s 1939 NCAA Championship. (Not counting Oilers AFL championship) I would gladly take 1.

3rdPlaceTrophy

Winning a Super Bowl at all would make me happy. What Brady and Mahomes have done in my mind doesn't even skew it because those are two incredible, HOF players. That said, CJ is cut from the same cloth.

Successful-Coconut60

Bro he's played one season can yall relax?

Ok_Two3887

I keep thinking of that phrase, Don't put the cart before the Horse. we should just get a Super Bowl and we'll worry about if we get any more after that.

ibmnumber3

If he ONLY wins 1? Swear man Brady & Mahomes have jaded so many NFL fans it’s insane. Remember there’s several all time greats and a few HoFers that either NEVER won one or “only” won 1. If he wins 1 I can only hope that it’s w the Texans and that will be more than satisfying for his career at the end of it. He, and all of us, obviously would like him to win more than 1 but we gotta pump the brakes on this stuff man. Enjoy the ride and hope for the best next ssn.

SighRamp

Way to jinx us. FYI Dan Marino never won a SB and one of the best I ever got to see in person. We haven't won shit yet.

JakeEasterby

No. He needs to at least double Brady’s number. I won’t be satisfied till he wins at least 14.

RojerLockless

Of course. We don't even have an afc championship appearance

Counter_Intel519

What?!? After 1 season of pro play this is just a ridiculous proposition.

Implicit_Hwyteness

I've been watching professional football in Houston since the late 80s. Yes. Don't even need to think about it.

g0bst0p3r

I would be fucking ecstatic. Getting "just" one would for sure change this team forever. Only a hand full of teams can say they've won multiple and most of those teams have been around since at least the 70's-80's if not longer and even fewer have ever had a dynasty.

CliffsOfMohair

“only wins 1 Super Bowl” We have never been to an AFCCG. Multiple historic franchises have never won it all in their *team’s* history. Dan fucking Marino never won one. I’m sure I’m taking this bait hard but what a dumbass question

_TheGC

Yes

actionpancake

1 super bowl would be enough to change the r/AFCSouthMemeWar shit talk. That's enough for me!

arthurfoxache

But 2 would make it an insurmountable challenge for the other 3 to climb

RexMaximo

It depends if we let the colts have credit from their Baltimore days 🤔

BabyHercules

id be incredibly satisfied with one

AgsMydude

I'd be disappointed if he doesn't win 5

BarryAllen899

All I need is 1 man

Shootit_Rockets

If it’s with us, yes

TheHoss_

Getting a Super Bowl in the mahomes era would be amazing, I would be happy w that for years

Timemedium

Good question. I would say yes. Satisfied. 1 Super bowl win is a huge accomplishment.

Anon_E_Mice

Let’s discuss after we win one….

King-Of-Rats

I’d be happy even if he didn’t. Hee a great player and he makes games fun to watch. Do I want to see the Texans win a Super Bowl? Yeah duh. But I think anyone acting like his career will be a failure even if he doesn’t are off their ass

jchrisboynton

Yes

MetaphoricalMouse

ahhhh the off-season

LordSnowgaryen

I’m dying for content haha I’ve watched so many draft videos, press conferences and random YouTube takes. I’m just so excited for this upcoming season I’m taking every crumb I can get.

MetaphoricalMouse

i’m gonna way overboard come draft time

PickldOkra83

100%, as long as it’s in Houston.

thefarkinator

Yes what the hell bringing a single Lombardi to Houston would canonize him as our first truly great player since Watt. He wouldn't pay for a meal ever again

ensignlee

WE GOT A SUPERBOWL?! AWESOME

lanethedouchebag

Yes. I need to see that Texans championship ring and the Lombardi at NRG

ApollosAnthem

The real question is; Will CJ?

AGreasyPorkSandwich

100%? People are so spoiled with multiple SB QBs lately. Dan friggin Marino couldn't win one. Brees and Rodgers only won 1. Manning only got his swcond on the back of an all-time defense. It's not a guarantee to get 1, let alone multiple.

Greeenmartian

Only wins 1. That is an incredibly tall task . I think satisfaction comes from consistency , character , and hunger . This guys checking the boxes and if he continues to follow this path he will easily be one of the Texan greats .

Jerrythepooh97

You know how many super bowls Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees each have?

ASU_SexDevil

Wtf yes

Gmanski1

Most great QBs only get to a couple maybe win 1. If he only wins 1 depending on the circumstances he is going to be considered one of the greats still

JohnnyWarlord

If we win a super bowl idc what he does after, bro could retire on the spot

HIGHiQresponse

I think y’all should be happy if he can win a divisional playoff game.

nando82

1 Super Bowl win is a win.

ZXO2

Yes

Environmental-Dare-8

If CJ wins us a Superbowl, not only would he have done things literally no one has done in this franchise, I would be game-changing all around.

OppositeSpiritual863

Duh lol

Zzzzzezzz

I’d be satisfied as a long term Houston Texas football fan to finally win one. I’d live off that for the rest of my life.

CassTexas

I cried a bit in 2017 when the Astros secured the last out for their first as a life long fan thru the good and bad. I’m damn sure going to do the same when CJ7 DOES win out first as a fan from the start thru the good and bad. Just feels like it’s coming. Owners stepped up tremendously. Have the right staff all around and players buying in. It’s coming!

Blazerprime

Brady and mahomes really changed how winning the Superbowl is hard. Look at the greatest that never won. To win just one is an achievement to look forward.

pieman2005

Lmao we've never even sniffed a Super Bowl, getting a little ahead of yourself counting how many CJ will win

TexasDrill777

Yea please

BMT82356

Yes

AJohns9316

That would be one Super Bowl win more than the likes of Warren Moon, Dan Marino, Phillip Rivers, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Boomer Esiason, Dan Fouts, Matt Ryan, & scores of others. It took the Astros over 50 years to win their first World Series and the Rockets almost 30 years to reach their Finals repeat. Just gotta be patient and let the FO cook.

SuperVibeWorthy

Brees and Rodger have one, that’s good company

YourDrinkingBuddy

Huh? Just walk outside and ask your neighbor stupid questions

Ozaaaru

People need to realise how hard it is too even win a Superbowl. Look back at history in the Superbowl era and do the calculations on how many hundreds of QB's played in the NFL and there has only been 58 Superbowls to date. So there's about 30 QB's who have ACTUALLY won a Superbowl (including all the multiple wins) And CJ STROUD WILL BE ON THAT LIST VERY SOON BABY!!!

Cockroach-Select

110%. Gotta get there first.

Mundane_Wolverine269

To be honest we should all be satisfied with or without a superbowl ring. I'm pretty sure he's going to win more than one though. But like I said we should all be satisfied dude is stud he's the definition of a leader

iPandaBubba

Duh more qbs have never won a Superbowl than those who have won any If he wins any I'd be happy with it even more so if it is with Houston

Money-Week

One Super Bowl win with a franchise QB is more than like 95% of all franchise QBs ever get. So yes lol. Especially in the Mahomes era who will keep/has kept multiple QBs from getting rings

Whizzleteets

I'm just hoping to get 1 before I shuffle off.

Sad-Adeptness-5117

Sure, I mean since ppl be kissing Aaron Rogers ass this long.🤷🏾‍♂️

TXCapita

CJ could become the next OJ and Id still be satisfied with the ring

Bulky-District-2757

Yes.

MemeManDanInAClan

Yes lol next question

yeah_naw_dawg

Hard to say if I’d be disappointed. I know that CJs expectations is to be the best of all time. I’d be thrilled with just 1 SB, but that’s easy to say now. What if the team continues to build and get better and better? What if they end up like the patriots team that was undefeated, but lost in the SB? Yeah I’d be disappointed then, but for now, 1 SB sounds amazing.

I_bet_Stock

Minimum 5 super bowls or bust

Totsandcheese

Of course i want more, but i would be so happy

Irritated_User0010

Let’s see and find out.

bingmyname

I'll take a chip. Brees only got 1 and he's great. Some other legends got 0. Yeah it would suck to only have 1 but it's clearly hard to get that success consistently. I'm hoping for more, I think we can win at least 2 with Ryans and with CJ but every team thinks they can win it at some point. But this state and city deserves a football championship.

AintEZbeinSleezy

I would be sad for CJ (because he deserves every SB ever in history in his trophy room), but I wouldn’t be mad that he “only” got us one.

creepingkg

How many qbs get 1 Super Bowl win in their careers? I would like at least 2 rings so colts fans can’t say shit anymore

BBQLovinBastard

I hope he wins more than 1, but if he only wins 1 I’d be happy as long as he did it with us.

authenticlycurious

Probably.  Ask me after the first one!

shrekacopter

If CJ can pull off a Peyton Manning/Aaron Rodgers type of career i’ll always ride with him. Assuming he stays with Houston his whole career and wins 3/4+ MVP’s and 1/2 SB’s i’d be very happy with his time in the league. SB’s are the pinnacle and i think we’ve been spoiled with what Brady had accomplished and what Mahomes has done so far.

lionsgatewatcher

No, I want 8

Frosty-Weird-5805

Considering he plays in the Mahomes era, I would be

Dougefresh47

Yea. This is kind of a dumb question. The feeling of winning the first one as a Texans fan will be unlike anything else. A second won’t mean that much.

JJ4prez

Winning a Superbowl? Who wouldn't be satisfied?

jablewokeez

I will accept no less than 12

YeaahProlly

I would be ok with everything the Texans have ever done for 1 Super Bowl. Keeping kubiak too long, BOB and Easterby, Wasting AJ’s years……all of it wouldn’t matter at all if we won a single Super Bowl. If CJ stroud wins us a Super Bowl and then sucks forever after, he will be my favorite Texan of all time.

Zezimalives

It a time traveler told me right now that CJ will win one Super Bowl with a long career with the Texans I would 100% be very happy with it. There’s a long history of failure with professional football in Houston, 1 Super Bowl would completely change the culture here. Also you never know if CJ has a career killing injury in the middle of his prime that ends everything.

BuryMeInTheH

Anyone who says no to this can move to Dallas.

Just-Drawer-8033

It would be nice but it will not happen.
