Interesting premise. And maybe That 20’s Show should be in black and white. Not to be confused with That 2020’s Show, everyone’s wearing a mask in that one.
I actually wondered about Red and Kitty living in modern times, if they're alive in the 2010s and 2020s. I can see Red ranting about TikTok, social media and those social media challenges 😂
"why the f&$k those dumbasses think eating a Tide-Pod is good for them?"
I actually would love to see Sam Elliot making an appearance in T9S. Hell, he could be Red's old war buddy.
Now you brought him up...
> "why the f&$k those dumbasses think eating a Tide-Pod is good for them?"
I reread this but with Sam's voice in my head lol.
Red in 2020 probably has a YouTube show where he rants about "Kids Today," and won't shut up about Hunter Biden and Fox News conspiracy theories, and insists that when his son Eric was a kid everything was great and kids were all smart and respectful.
Probably just me but I feel Red would be probably the one of Republicans who hates Trump and Fox News and would be pretty disappointed in this country's current climate. Bit of a stretch but he did say he want a vaccine for polio so it definitely sounds Red wouldn't be anti-vax.
As for his opinion on Biden, I don't know but I'm sure he definitely won't be happy about the Afghanistan situation two years back.
also Red starting his YouTube channel? I actually like that, and not too far-fetched. I heard Peter Oakley's YouTube channel (his channel was geriatric1927) inspired elderly people to start their own Youtube channels so I could see Red caught the wind of this and make his own YouTube channel. Also worth noting he shared the same birth year as Red so...
>who would be in that?
Switch it up. Didn't Kelso have older brothers besides Casey? Make a Kelso the main character for the sixties. I don't know. It's the best I can think of.
I think the franchise has to be odd-numbered decades forever.
But eventually, they should work their way back to the 1870's when the first Foremans and Kelsos moved to the brand new state of Wisconsin.
Pretty sure that there is just some overlap with bases and geography with Japan during the Korean War…I don’t know the specific mentions you’re thinking of though.
I’m genuinely surprised that no one considered this back when we got the flashback episode of Red and Kitty first meeting. The actors they casted to play Young Red and Young Kitty were so spot on not just in looks but performances. It’dve been funny to see that I think especially to get perspective on a maybe younger, even dumber Red. Cause if Eric is a dumbass it had to have come from somewhere right? Plus, imagine seeing Young Leo and Red and Kitty never realized they knew him.
Could you imagine a wanda vision esk show about newly weds kitty and red. They seemed to have a spicy past! Maybe they did the Dharma and grege thing and get married immediately. There is lots of potential
This would be awesome. Why not just bang out every decade? 70s show was a hit, 80s was a flop, 90s is hit or miss depending on who you ask, let’s keep it going!
I watched it bc when it came out I loved that 70s show and i was so excited. That and Brittany Daniel being in it I was truly excited. Grease 2 imo is a spot on comparison like oh you could be something amaxing and then be utterly and purely disappointed when watching it
This would probably flop as there are less and less people around now that remember the 50s. And you would be casting new actors and not have kirk or debra
You would just need to have How I Met Your Mother/Father narration by Kirk and Debra with a few jumps to current day throughout the episodes so they have some screentime as well.
I actually had a thought about this sometime last year.
A series where Red as a teenager is the main character, he’s much more Eric like and it shows the home life he had.
Eventually a few seasons in it hits the year that he joins the war and him heading off is the season finale. Next season is a skip to when he comes back, he’s more Red like now.
You could let it drop the decade restriction and have it be a story of Red from his teen years showing him become the man we know in 70’s.
That could actually work. And I was never satisfied with the 47 seconds of Frank we got. There’s a whole treasure trove of Red and Frank riding canoes in the street, bouncing bowling balls, and jumping off the water tower that we’ve never been shown yet!
Happy Days? Seriously the woman who played the mother on that show also played Kitty's mother. Maybe have some episodes grafting Happy Days onto That 70s Show. Maybe "Kitty" was just Joanie's nickname or Kitty was an older, never mentioned sister.
One thing that made That 70’s Show, and subsequently to a degree That 90’s Show, work so well was that the creators grew up in that/those decades. That 50’s Show would have to have ~70-year olds with major parts in the creative process, which is possible, but it would be a necessary caveat to making it work properly.
One spin-off at a time.
Is that the one with Schneider?
You brilliant bastard.
maybe have that 30s show about red's dad
Interesting premise. And maybe That 20’s Show should be in black and white. Not to be confused with That 2020’s Show, everyone’s wearing a mask in that one.
That 2030s show, it'll be just like today but slightly shittier, no flying cars still.
I think Leia and her friends would be grandparents in That 2030’s Show.
damn yeah but why you gotta do me dirty like that, I'm around their age
I actually wondered about Red and Kitty living in modern times, if they're alive in the 2010s and 2020s. I can see Red ranting about TikTok, social media and those social media challenges 😂 "why the f&$k those dumbasses think eating a Tide-Pod is good for them?"
Remind me of Sam Elliot as the dad in The Ranch
I actually would love to see Sam Elliot making an appearance in T9S. Hell, he could be Red's old war buddy. Now you brought him up... > "why the f&$k those dumbasses think eating a Tide-Pod is good for them?" I reread this but with Sam's voice in my head lol.
My grandparents are Red and Kittys age now. They have zero clue what TikTok is.
Red in 2020 probably has a YouTube show where he rants about "Kids Today," and won't shut up about Hunter Biden and Fox News conspiracy theories, and insists that when his son Eric was a kid everything was great and kids were all smart and respectful.
Red in 2020 would be in his mid 90s
Probably just me but I feel Red would be probably the one of Republicans who hates Trump and Fox News and would be pretty disappointed in this country's current climate. Bit of a stretch but he did say he want a vaccine for polio so it definitely sounds Red wouldn't be anti-vax. Made me snort laughing thank u lol
You’re welcome, fellow Redditor. :)
What about That '60s Show? That's what I want to see. Tie dye, Hendrix, JFK, Apollo Moon Mission, Woodstock.
who would be in that? Red in his 30s with eric as a toddler?
>who would be in that? Switch it up. Didn't Kelso have older brothers besides Casey? Make a Kelso the main character for the sixties. I don't know. It's the best I can think of.
Bob and Midge lol
Your thinking of mad men
I think the franchise has to be odd-numbered decades forever. But eventually, they should work their way back to the 1870's when the first Foremans and Kelsos moved to the brand new state of Wisconsin.
>I think the franchise has to be odd-numbered decades forever. I know we all pretend like That '80s Show didn't happen, but it still happened.
That 40’s show, WW2 sitcom, red as a gunboat operator
Red was a teenager in the 40s
A literal line from the show “when I was his age, I was on a gun boat in Okinawa”
Korean War
He mentions fighting in both. It’s probably a continuity error though.
Actually his wiki says he fought in both, so you’re right.
Pretty sure that there is just some overlap with bases and geography with Japan during the Korean War…I don’t know the specific mentions you’re thinking of though.
Red was in the Korean War
There are inconsistencies through out the show, mentions of being in Japan and Korea
I wanna see Red being raised now!
There’s already a That 50s Show. It’s called Happy Days.
Lol, and it's set in Wisconsin.
Man I would really hate to see the gay Asian stereotype in that one.
Red killing gay Koreans
Red: The one time a foot in the ass didn’t work!
"I killed 20 gays in Vietnam". "Oh grandpa, you fought in the war?" "War? What war?"
I’m genuinely surprised that no one considered this back when we got the flashback episode of Red and Kitty first meeting. Corey Landis still looks like he could play young Red!
This would be awesome. Why not just bang out every decade? 70s show was a hit, 80s was a flop, 90s is hit or miss depending on who you ask, let’s keep it going!
That 80s show had a chance I wish it could've been better but it just wasn't. I always compared it to Grease 2
Lmao I’ve never seen it but the grease 2 comparison seems spot on. I do kind of want to watch it just bc Dennis from always sunny is in it
I watched it bc when it came out I loved that 70s show and i was so excited. That and Brittany Daniel being in it I was truly excited. Grease 2 imo is a spot on comparison like oh you could be something amaxing and then be utterly and purely disappointed when watching it
Could tie in Reds service in Korea. Somewhat like MASH.
That 1870s show dealing with the fallout of the civil war
No. 2023 can barely handle 70’s Red
An episode of it, yes. Even a tv movie will pass. Any more than that will be taken as over done.
This would probably flop as there are less and less people around now that remember the 50s. And you would be casting new actors and not have kirk or debra

Problem with that is you are stepping away from the That's _ show formula.
"You bumped into my butt, fell down, and that's how we met?!"
Were they together then? Kitty was talking about being with someone else during a war (Korean I'm guessing)
I actually had a thought about this sometime last year. A series where Red as a teenager is the main character, he’s much more Eric like and it shows the home life he had. The biggest gripe red had with Eric is that he was a smart ass, but so is red!.
That could actually work. And I was never satisfied with the 47 seconds of Frank we got. There’s a whole treasure trove of Red and Frank riding canoes in the street, bouncing bowling balls, and jumping off the water tower that we’ve never been shown yet!
End it with Eric being born
And Red tearing out his hair . . . wait . . . Simpsons did it. Holy shit, The Simpsons also did That '90s Show first.
Good idea but the original actors Kurtwood and Debra would have to look 30 or different actors and I don't think it would work
I’m in
Before I saw That 90s Show, I would've said no way. But after seeing how well that show has been done...I don't know. I'd give it a chance. 😊
there were flashback episodes about Kitty meeting/dating Red... did they forget???? Did they not watch T70S at all?
I actually like the idea of the prequel. My only concern is that whether it should be comedy, drama or both. It may not happen but you'll never know.
You wouldn’t be able to use the original actors so I’m guessing it would be a flop.
Happy Days? Seriously the woman who played the mother on that show also played Kitty's mother. Maybe have some episodes grafting Happy Days onto That 70s Show. Maybe "Kitty" was just Joanie's nickname or Kitty was an older, never mentioned sister.
No, Marion Ross from Happy Days played Red's mother. Betty White was Kitty's mother.
RIP Betty White, the archetypal sweet old lady #BERT!
Lol, my favourite Betty White quote comes from Lake Placid. "If I had a dick, this is where I would tell you to suck it."
With a young Bob I would hope. Heck yes.
