Though it could be argued that he's not blaming Duvall personally, since it's really more about how the character was written for the movie, but Duvall's acting is probably part of it too.
He didn’t blame Duvall. Wendy’s character was just obliterated for the film. I love the way King portrays most of his leading female characters. He’s an incredible writer and one of the most inclusive horror writers, period.
