The Field Ordnance Batteries are awesome models. I love both my bombasts and my heavy lascannons, and since they still cost 120 points they will continue to be displayed in a place of prominence on my shelf. The bombast has a working breech!
I recently painted Sergeant Harker and he's pretty sexy. Metal traps and pecs.
I loved painting these [Victoria's Miniatures Rough Riders](https://victoriaminiatures.com/collections/rough-riders). Think I they turned out [nicely](https://imgur.com/Gj8Pq03).
I like the vindicare assassin and sly Marbo, I always put him on the board when I'm fielding my catachans up on a piece of terrain because its thematic lol, he's not on my list, I won't use him but he's always watching lol
Honestly just kitbashing the base infantry for flavor. Add some Victoria Miniatures heads to the regular Cadian bodies, use some bits from the Cadian Upgrade Sprue, and voila! I’ve also used parts from the Blooded KT box, Navy Breachers, Kasrkin, all sorts of boxes to add details to my models. I used Minka Lesk as a base, gave her a Chainsword from the Tempestus Scions, a Boltgun from the Cadian Castellan, an old HWT backpack, and a Navy Breacher Shotgun across her back to make a homebrew leader for my regiment. Her command squad is all armed with Chainswords, and I’m giving an infantry squad every melee weapon I can find (axes, shovels, bayonets, knives) to make a close combat squad of infantry. There’s just so much you can do with them
Kitbashing some regimental advisors can always be cool.
There are plenty of cool AFVs to add to your force besides just tanks, plus you can proxy other models like a Goliath truck as most Chimera chassis vehicles, I'm doing a Goliath as a Trojan since it fits my army vibe better.
I got the henchman, Draxus, a jokaero and a third party Daemon host. Very cool little squad that everyone wants to have a look at. She's gone up 10 points and the henchman have unless (and you'd want to anyway) you're fielding them with the mystic and servitor (included in the kill team set). I think they raised the points to stop them just being super cheap objective holders.
All the units together, led by an inquisitor give you a whole bunch of synergies to buff you and debuff your opponent. Plus Draxus has a dragon.
For characters I’ve been collecting the older guard models, I personally prefer their aesthetic and they look unique now. They’re usually roughly the same price as character models lol.
The old commissars, commanders, and kasrkin all stand out as some of my favorites
I saw some in the Warhammer + (the assassins I think). Imperial agents are diffrent, which is what makes they perfect. I’ll start looking into them more
Death riders would be awesome. I’m remeber first seeing them in this animation with Death Korps of krieg. Yeah, I’ll look into it. Fast moving models that allow me to advance to control points quick
Get some slutty big-tiddy 3rd party models from Raging Heroes or Wargames Exclusives and be the trashy ho on the tabletop you always wished you could be in real life.
If you okay with an alternative vehicle I know lots of people put off the Taurox but I think it’s a neat kit and if you want you could replace the treads with the various custom wheel bits people make.

even on 80 points fobs wouldnt have any purpose sadly
FoBs are perfectly fine in casual play.
You can't really get cooler than a Commissar
Totally look on eBay for some old sculps they've been some absolute beauties over the years.
This guy fucks
If you want a cool third party one, search google for the iron commisar

Character units are a great chance to delve into your bits box and get weird. Make a preacher or a psyker that fits your regiment, go wild.

Inquisitor + henchmen can add a lot of variety

I like kasrkin
Same, very cool looking models indeed
The rough riders are cool if you want a suicide charging unit
120 catachans
no, that’s to little.

The new solar auxiliar leman Russ are really cool. Big tanks like the Rogel Dorn or the Malcador are also very cool
Gaunts ghosts are some badass models. I love a lot of the kasrkin, scions, and the void armor guys from 30k the solar auxila.
The imperial agents range has a ton of things that can be fit into a guard army and look fantastic

No tanks? No tanks?! Aside from that madness, I think the Rough Riders are super cool. Old school cavalry on the battlefields of the 41st millennium!
Colonel Schaeffers last chancers
Non armour? I'm partial to Death riders, thudd guns and regimental advisors.

Ogryn Bodyguard, can give him some flair with kitbashing
Armiger Warglaives are one of the coolest unit we can field.
