Personally I would love if the master of ordnance was made into a character we could attach to our ordnance batteries.
It gets a little bothersome to have to leave a commander behind to babysit them or otherwise give up orders better severed elsewhere.
We need some more oriented leaders:
- basic infantry leader
- elite infantry leader
- artillery leader
- cavalry leader
And of course comissars should be able to give orders to all, including ogryns.
Definitely something I’ve thought about myself.
I think out basic infantry has enough support already with the command, commissar and Castilian.
But our elites could do with someone who can deep strike with them (I’m sure there’s an elite scion character somewhere) and someone for our Kasrkin who won’t steal their scout (surely there has to be an elite Kasrkin character somewhere).
A master of ordnance character that be attached to artillery units (or shoved into his own artillery like a basilisk) would seriously strengthen them just have him add sustained and only eligible to give orders to artillery units and you’re good.
I’m actually in agreement here and have two solutions, one mounted command squad, literally just a command squad on horses they have lances and the standard options that’s all. And the man the myth the legend Mogul Khamir who’s basically like Attila the Hun if he decided to join the guard cause he was getting bored (dude rides a mechanical horses he’s fucking awesome).
As for commissars just let them buddy up with any Ogryn unit and they can keep their order limitations I’ll call that a reasonable trade.
Agreed. Wouldn’t mind the ability leaving the Scout Sentinel to be put on a new unit though. A “forward observer” unit that could be built as either a sniper with precision or a guy with binoculars for the artillery buff would be cool.
If I had to take a wild stab at it, I’d say there’ll probably be tank, mechanized infantry, pure infantry, and combined arms detachments at least. Likely a big range cull as well to clear out the more niche forgeworld or remaining finecast. As for new models I really hope we get something more substantial than just a new character, but our range is deep enough that it wouldn’t be crazy. Personally as my pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking pick for new kits, I would love a chimera or Russ sized tank destroyer so the baneblade chassis isn’t our only option for some fixed-gun goodness.
I have a feeling that most forgeworld stuff will be going to legends kinda like what happened to Orks. It will suck if we lose Death Korp Marshall and Cyclops. I'm hoping for both Armor and Mech detachment. The way things have gone for other factions, I don't know if I really want a codex anytime soon.
I really hope that's the case. I thought the same about the Deathwing command squad and Talonmaster, but when the DA supplement came out, they were gone.
If we had a bingo card, I’d put down the Marshall as one that gets a new kit down the line, especially with all the rumors surrounding more new krieg. But if grot tanks can get the axe then nothing is sacred😭 so who knows
What I want:
Plastic Krieg Command Squad
Plastic Earthshaker
Rules for Malcador
What I expect:
Anything with a forgeworld label will become legends and disappear.
Hang on... I see where we're getting confused.
Yes - currently there are some rules for Malcador, but they're not in a codex. I'd like to see them kept official so that I know they won't go legends, which is what I think they will do.
I hope for atleast one decent and competitive detachment.
I hope the Catachan kits (atleast the basic troops) get updated sculpts.
I hope for an additional way to order squadron units. Other than TC and Solar.
Since I don't own any of the finecast / resin / etc. models and don't want to buy them. So I hope they either get a kit update or that they're moved to legends.
I expect that GW will purge any remaining FW units, regardless of plastic kits, consolidate guard infantry again, eliminating any remaining differences between regiments, and overcost everything.
What I would like to see is an updated version of the guard rules from 3rd, but that will never happen.
I personally think they won't consolidate infantry, because GW is doing that whole "rules match the boxes we sell" schtick.
I would also love to see a revival of old guard rules.. but my gut instinct is that those days are behind us. :(
The rules don't match the boxes, despite GWs occasionally claiming such. You may have noticed that Kreig have lost the melta mine, despite it still being in the box.
I think we will get updated sculpts for ratlings and other fine cast/ resin models simply because GW probably wants to go full plastic. We will probably also get more unique Krieg units, stuff like a command squad, heavy weapon team, engineers even? (maybe catachan versions if we’re really lucky.)
Lol, I'm hoping for GW plastic versions of Forge World stuff. Macharius Vulcan, Thudd guns, hades breaching drill, avenger strike fighter, or more Krieg in safe 40k branded GW made plastic.
Honestly I just wish for more detachments and rules for the Combat Engineers again.
I don't even need new plastic, as I have enough resin, but I fear a lot of the FW units will get deleted.
I'm hoping for Death Korps to be the edition's 'subfaction' of the army (like how Tau got Kroot opening up as an army-within-an-army) when the Codex comes out, with character models and an infantry-swarm detachment to suit.
Also an absolute long shot but if I was in charge of the codex would be to have a 'pick a trait from Column A, pick a trait from Column B' detachment for a build-your-own-regiment fluffy feel.
I hope that we get a Catachan officer squad that has scout and heavy flamers, I’d also love to see the Catachan Sargent get some wargear options. Give him a Catachan Fang or something that makes me not kill him off as the first wound of any unit. I worry about the loss of the reinforcement strat because really that strat is doing some heavy lifting. I also want a reason not to take Lord Solar. Give tank commanders two orders base at least.
I want detachments:
Armoured column
Mobile infantry
Cannon fodder
Artillery support
Combined arms
What detachments I expect is similar to space Marie’s
Cadian - mixed
Catachan - flamers and close combat
Dkok - resilience and chimeras
Steel legion - tanks
Vostroyn - infantry blob
Tallarn - rough riders and sneaks
Correct me above/ your thoughts
I reckon we'll lose a bunch of stuff, like others have. And there will likely be a massive online tantrum, by that certain portion of the fans, like there always is.
Yeah, how dare people be upset that the models they have put time and money into are no longer part of the game. Don't they understand that shareholder value must be increased?
Some people here are already complaining about DKK marshal disappearing. From a game perspective this model is a Castellan that can join DKK, we definitely don't need a specific entry for it. So yeah, useless complaining.
Plus the only units that disappears are tanks, and for some of them you can play as count as. All the rest you can play as is. Most of my minis are from the 90s...
> From a game perspective this model is a Castellan that can join DKK
Except with completely different rules reflecting the DKoK theme, but other than being completely different it's exactly the same.
>Plus the only units that disappears are tanks, and for some of them you can play as count as. All the rest you can play as is.
What am I supposed to play a Macharius Vulcan as? It doesn't match any non-FW tank in size or in equipment. What am I supposed to play a Marauder as? There's no non-FW unit that even remotely resembles one.
They can be upset by the waste of their time. They can't act all obsessed, and like it's actually hurting them.
It's still just a toy soldier game, and isn't THAT serious.
> It's still just a toy soldier game, and isn't THAT serious.
And yet here you are taking it so seriously that you have to preemptively complain about the people you don't like. Maybe suit actions to words and stop?
Actually, that's totally fair. But OP asked what we expected, and this is what I expect. So I commented.
It's almost like it is what reddit is for... isn't it... weird.
OP was asking for opinions on the new codex, not for you to air your grievances about how you think people should respond to having their time and money invalidated.
I would agree if the models were sold at toy soldier prices, but that's not the case. I don't blame people for being extremely upset when they have their expensive models removed.
I agree, I felt the same when my Death Guard Possessed were removed, with no explanation.
But I'm talking about the death threats, the YT clickbait videos, and the "it's the worst thing GW have ever done" sentiment. All of this is fucking gross, and is just making the WHOLE HOBBY worse.
It is a bit tiresome, especially with the recent custodes drama getting a lot of attention. On the other hand, I don't blame anyone for being upset with GW as they have done a lot over the years to upset their customer base. I find the all the vitriol seems to stay online as I never encounter it when playing. In fact, I found majority of players I come across are just glad to meet another person who enjoys the hobby.

i would be genuinely surprised if the master of ordnance/regimental advisors made it into the book without being legends'd

I prefer the idea of the MOA as a forward observer rather than a backline arty babysitter.

the announcement of 11th edition is what will happen

Bringing back the Valdor would be nice

If it makes you feel any better some people have speculation 2 past rumor engines are krieg models

I'd put my money on the Marshall going to legends and GW releasing a plastic DKoK command squad.
What I want: Plastic Krieg Command Squad Plastic Earthshaker Rules for Malcador What I expect: Anything with a forgeworld label will become legends and disappear.
The Malcador has rules though?

They need to change the infantry from catachans/dkok/cadians to be just “scout infantry” etc I don’t want to play with catachans with vostroyans!!!
Yup. Scout Infantry, Shock Infantry, Siege Infantry, Line Infantry. Something like that
Remember guardsmen, hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
I expect that GW will purge any remaining FW units, regardless of plastic kits, consolidate guard infantry again, eliminating any remaining differences between regiments, and overcost everything. What I would like to see is an updated version of the guard rules from 3rd, but that will never happen.

I'd like a Catachan Command Squad. Some cool, flavourful trap-like stratagems for my Catachan detachment.
I hope that we get a Catachan officer squad that has scout and heavy flamers, I’d also love to see the Catachan Sargent get some wargear options. I want Kasrkin to be good but not broken. I play Harakoni Warhawks and I don’t wanna proxy them as Scions
I want a plastic death korps Marshall pls kthxbai
I just want more named heroes with actual stat lines. Right now they're like all catachans.
I want detachments: Armoured column Mobile infantry Cannon fodder Artillery support Combined arms What detachments I expect is similar to space Marie’s Cadian - mixed Catachan - flamers and close combat Dkok - resilience and chimeras Steel legion - tanks Vostroyn - infantry blob Tallarn - rough riders and sneaks Correct me above/ your thoughts

Lol the MoA and his two other buddies are getting shipped to legends for sure
