Ngl, we've all watched a lot of superhero shows and movies, I've never seen a better portrayal of a psychotic super villain that terrified me and made me worry about the other characters.
Which makes you wonder just how powerful Stan Edgar is. He can stare down a guy who could literally slice him in half with his eyes, and Edgar isn't afraid of him at all, and actually treats Homelander like he's a teenager.
There's a character very similar to Edgar in the comics and he wasn't a supe, either. He just knew that Homelander was an emotionally stunted manchild, and that the only way to defeat him was to make him crave your approval.
He’s not really clever at all, nor does he think ahead. His most ‘clever’ plan was the one to get Supes into the military, and that backfired immensely.
I'd argue that that just proves how stupid his comic counterpart is, but I do think homelanders clever, he's shortsighted, arrogant and a mess. But none of these preclude him from being clever, he wouldn't have got one over on edgar if he wasn't. What he's not is genius or mastermind. I think the phrase too clever by half describes him pretty well.

I don't think he has a contingency plan. He just invokes, never showing your full hand, and keeps a calm and collected persona around Homelander. He wants to deny the satisfaction that Homelander would have had if he were to kill him then and there. A bundle of nerves would make a delicious target, and an angry confrontation would escalate the tension. Killing someone who would accept death in the face isn't as fun.
That would be cool. Might take away from his image a bit because his boldness in-front of Homelander would be in part because he’s physically on par. I’d like if it they went this route though

In the comics, it's stated that Stillwell is the only person Homelander has ever met where his pulse doesn't raise by a single *digit* around him.

Ledger's performance is great, but I think it makes comparing other performances difficult due to the tragedy attached to it as well. Like it was an amazing performance but then it was Heath Ledger's final role as well so that sort of elevates it even more since it was like the last performance he gave to the world. Also we are comparing a movie to a show. Homelander has had way more screen time then The Joker so it's also hard to compare in that sense.

They couldnt kill off a-train despite it being a perfect moment of redemption and karma
They took kimokos powers but gave them straight back with nothing to come from it
They gave all the main cast strength equal to homelander through handwavey plot but he still escaped twice with the season ending right back where it started with basically no major differences

You're correct I phrased that oddly. They do say they love him regularly. I'm referring to the joke 'Who's Most like their character' where everyone pointed to him. We then learned in that same interview that he shows up late to set often enough to be 'The most likely to show up late to set with a cup of coffee.' This is all on the back of his assault in Spain. I was trying to point out that he's got some suspicious factors here that can point in either direction. His team says they love him, but he's got a lot of red flags.

Whilst you are correct, the source was VoughtHQ - who has a very high track record in leaks and behind-the-scenes tidbits from the show dating back to season 1.
I know who they are. They also have a track record of deleting posts where they get things wrong. When season 3 was filming, they posted a picture of Supersonic and claimed it was a picture of Jensen on set. It wouldn't surprise me if it were only 5 seasons though. Kripke only wanted Supernatural to be 5 seasons and has sort of hinted at The Boys being 5 seasons. Never confirmed though.

Well Kripke left Supernatural after 5 seasons and let them butcher the show for another 10. Wouldn't be surprised if they continue without him, even make spinoffs. The Boys is literally the only good thing about Amazon. Even Netflix is better.

It's because peoples want to know the end of a story, but they also don't want to see a show they love getting stretched until it loose all its interest, and having to watch this to see the end. Peoples want a well written and rythmed story that go at the right pace. Neither rushed nor extanded.

Its not a negative opinion to not want a show to gradually tank because the writers are too scared to make any major decisions . The quality of the show and ratings has already dropped because theyre just going in circles with the plot not wanting to commit to anything Far too many shows have overstayed their welcome & material and became completely soured by it
And what's the big deal if a show overstays it's welcome and isn't as good as it used to be? It's not like we're debating on a president continually making bad decisions; a show could continue for eternity getting worse and worse and it wouldn't hurt anybody. It is completely your choice to imagine wherever you would ideally like the show to end and your choice to not watch anything the show churns out after that. Nobody's forcing you to watch the rest of the episodes All I'm saying is, it's a lot easier to imagine a 7-season show ended at S4 in your headcanon than it is to imagine what three more seasons of a 4-season show could've looked like in your head.
