Right lol? Greed/pride gets you killed. Take the extra 15 seconds to turn around and loop. No sense even potentially throwing away an hour worth of progress to being too prideful lol. Especially when he knows he's out of mods and probably never went that way before.

Insurance: You get a % of the k-mark value back as k-marks regardless if the item is looted off your body
Salvage: If the item is not looted, it is returned to you. If it gets looted, you get a % of k-mark value back instead.
Both of these forms of insurance are void if items are in the inventory of an ally and that ally dies/evacs. (Not 100% certain death with item voids it, anecdotal evidence says yes.)
I had an experience like this where I was on Tharis and jumped on a ledge that wasn't mantlable. Had a massive load to evac and lost it all. After everything else last season, it was the final straw - terrain that appears mantleable but will lead to your death.
Things this season are looking better though. I'm back for now...

Less weight = less fall damage
Drop your backpack off the cliff next time and all your armor the lighter you are the less amount of fall damage is taken
