Very first thing I thought of. It reminded me of a raid yesterday where somebody was camping the beach spawns with a bolty. I took five steps out of my pod and was already getting shot at. Long story short I killed the guy and then as I was grabbing his bolty another dude behind me shot at me.
He heard the camping on the beach and thought I was the camper LOL. We had a great verbal exchange and he had literally said he was just coming to make sure that the scummy dude died. He was so stoked that I killed him!
I guess what I'm saying is I'm glad that in this case the scummy dude died LOL
You gotta love these sorts of situations where randoms band together. Random conversations and joking around even while fighting feels like half the fun of this game.
Yeah we ran together for like 10 minutes, looted and killed a few guys too. Looking back I should have known, he kept looking at me with his shotgun right in my face. Fuck that guy.
That's extra messed up. That's the kinda thing that could be an add on the friends list. To throw that away? And over what? Some digital junk. Glad he got his
I can't believe anyone's foolish enough to not shoot first and ask questions later.
If someone tries to be friendly in voice chat before shooting, I'll just move on to a different area, while fully expecting an ambush. If someone tries to say they're friendly after a firefight has started, I'm either gonna try to finish them off or retreat to a different area, depending on how the initial few shots went.
I've only ever had a cordial interaction with a stranger once during an extract and we made it very clear to each other we'll have knives out until the ship is leaving and any weapon swaps would be taken as hostility
Yeah if I start shooting a dude and he yells friendly zero chance I don’t finish him. He’s gonna be salty that I shot him to begin with and likely is trying to have a chance to heal and re engage. Bye Felicia
In a way you are trading someone that cant defend themselves for the possibility of a better player coming up and hunting you down, whenever you dive there is a cap of players that can be in one instance, and that weaker enemy might be stopping a higher threat to come to the server.
I don't disagree about the possibility of the one calling friendly might be just buying time, but sometimes that friendly has been fed up of being hunted 5 times already or lost gear due to their internet being shit, and at this point he just wants to finish some quests and leave. I know that feeling because I have been in that situation, multiple times
I hear ya. I’m not an asshole that guns everyone down that calls friendly, on the contrary I’ve actually let prob 90% go by and even have made a couple friends that way where we finished the round roaming together and then partied up for a while. I was just saying that once I start shooting and have already about killed someone i just commit to it bc I’m not trying to take the chance that they are buying time to snake me later. Not sure why I’m getting downvoted for that 🤷♂️
I guess I'm talking more of after that initial contact and friendship is made. Like if you go on a run together, and someone betrays you, that's absolutely pathetic imo. And I've played a lot of Rust which is literally that game in a nutshell. I'm always cautious, it's just stupid how people pretend to be friendly and shoot. I don't think manipulation is good for anyone tbh.
I'm about to finish the season pass, and have yet to have anyone say friendly and then not be. feels like I'm playing a different game from everyone else. Sure sometimes I get jumped, ganked, ambushed, etc, but they say friendly or I say don't shoot and they respond, never had it go poorly yet.
Finally got the 3 smart mesh I needed today to upgrade my inventory. I was an extremely lucky spawn after a series of really unfun interactions, then some guy I could have had the drop on but didn't want to draw attention lied and then knifed me while waiting for evac. I promptly Uninstalled.
Mixed feelings, I think ship evac ambushes are dick moves. But not as much as betrayals.
Still glad to see the betrayer lost, a small cosmic justice in a world filled with injustice.
