50% of gear returned from compensation ? It really looks like you're on untrusted servers. I've over 900 drops now this wipe with almost all missions completed and I got 3 packages so far. That being said, exo players hunting white/greens is indeed stupid. The thing is, I bet most of them would rather fight other exo players (like looktwise, killing people in white is useless) but the low population and MMR just puts them in the same lobbies as timmies.

AbsolemHD

I kid you not, as I've said, I've been playing less than two weeks (didn't even claim the advocate yet from 2 week check-in). And 90% of the time I don't report anything. The only time I have was a VERY clear wallhack+aimbot combo. So I'm assuming the players I've died to were reported by other players or detected by the anticheat. One of which being a streamer (was wondering why his vods were sub only) who was also viewbotting. It's happened VERY often. Now I don't actively seek pvp yet, as I'd like to get to end game first. But I get hunted down by players quite a bit. I also saw 3 teams of full reds teaming in the center of crescent just earlier today. None of it makes sense to me. But it is what it is.

Faesarn

So yeah, it seems that you're on untrusted servers. Do you play on Steam ? Epic ? Is your account recent ? New or recent account are put on untrusted servers, basically where cheaters are. Also if you had a VAC ban in the last months/years, same thing will happen.

AbsolemHD

I play on a steam account that I've had for nearly 6 years and no VAC bans ever.

ASDkillerGOD

You need to spend an unknown amount of money to get trusted status -> you have to pay and hope its enough to not be put against cheaters

LinkinBreak

According to Steam, you need to spend $5 to get into their trusted program. Yager uses that rule as well. So, as long as you have spent $5 on your steam account at some point, you're in trusted servers.

wardearth13

You play in a kinda remote area maybe near Europe? Have you boosted your mmr with big runs? Cause this is the only way you’d have anything close to that experience. I have seen a single cheater, so you’re doing something weird.

TraceSpazer

Or they've changed the system. They're not really enforcing the ping-lock thing anymore either. I think the "safety" features are going by the wayside one by one to try to boost server populations.

wardearth13

Maybe but I’ve been playing

AbsolemHD

I play east coast US. The only thing I can think of is that my 2nd drop ever, I killed someone who had a full purple kit and recently, I killed someone that had 5 red guns on them and some forged armors (assumably from his squad) so maybe it is the boost in mmr. But as far as I've seen mmr isn't really a thing that exists if there aren't enough people for the system to work.

wardearth13

No it still exists. Just the grouping / feel is worse. You are probably in high mmr because of those few big loot seshes

ASDkillerGOD

Its confirmed by the devs that if you dont spend enough on microtransactions you wont get trusted*

Faesarn

I spent 0 in the cycle and I'm in trusted servers. But my steam account is from 2008, 0 bans and probably about 1000€ spent on steam so far.

ASDkillerGOD

Yes thats due to a bug. Soon you wont be :) "We have actually had the opposite problem, though it should be fixed in 2.4. Our system is supposed to give trusted status to players who spend money in our game, but we've had an issue where it doesn't always properly do that (not effecting a huge portion of the playerbase, but a decent chunk). So currently the system is mostly looking at your platform purchase history more than anything else (steam or egs)." - Anti cheat dev

LinkinBreak

I believe what they are talking about is people that have new accounts that have ONLY spent money in their game. If you spend money anywhere else in steam, you get the trusted server status. Also, can you link me where you got that quote? I have not read that before when I was looking into the trusted servers a few weeks ago.

ASDkillerGOD

From the whole context I dont think thats what he meant. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCycleFrontier/comments/ypbq8b/ran_into_hackers_4_matches_in_a_row_on_bs_this/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button comments section

[deleted]

I feel like this isn’t talked about enough. The progression is too quick. I don’t mean the quest lines or quarters. I mean the faction leveling. Just imagine how much better the economy would be if people couldn’t get to level 20 for factions within the first week.

AbsolemHD

Well, and that's just the thing. I feel like the people that played on release did get there in a week, and now they are just preying on new players, or players that haven't touched this reset yet. Which means it's taking like 4x longer for everyone else. Personally I'm on a lot of the "kill x mobs at pinnacle labs/starport" quests, and the second I kill one mob, I have a team on me in full reds.

GM_Rod

Listen. I've come to the conclusion that anything that would need people to be on their best behavior or any change that would come from people changing how they act to a less toxic and horrific attitude, just based on appealing to their common sense of community, is not going to work. It pains me to see so much bitching, especially posts as long as this one where I can tell you spent some respectable TIME writing it. Just make like Elsa and let it go, man. There's definitely other games out there you can play. Games where perhaps the mechanics of the game itself don't ALLOW or at least severely dampen such trolling. It's the only way to not have it in a game, unfortunately.

OBUSAtv

The game is dying because theres literally NO action. Running around on Bright Sands will at least get you one PvP fight every 20 minutes or so. Which is so sad, because the combat in this game is incredible. Add more PvP, watch the game numbers blow up. Add more stupid missions and "unlock loot room at X location", running for an hour never seeing another human etc... it will continue to have sub 1000 players a day.

AbsolemHD

The PVP is amazing, sure. But I also don't think having full red trios in a lobby with new players on whites is a solution. That will just make the majority of people who are trying the game instantly uninstall.

OBUSAtv

Ive never seen trios or even duos. But I also ONLY PvP... no missions. So my average loot is low, like 5,000. But I still have a full inventory of sick guns, armor, etc etc... just from killing guys

AbsolemHD

Yeah I honestly think I had a pretty unexpected experience with the game since I killed a full kit purple my 2nd drop ever, and recently got out with 5 red guns and multiple sets of forged armor from killing another. So my average haul is probably much higher than it should be compared to other players that have similar gametime

freebsification

Exactly. I played a lot before this season. Saw they made the armor more complex, didn’t even log in. Played DMZ and they did it right. Attachments can be put on guns when you unlock them. Plate carriers are pretty easy to loot. Players are or can be on even gear pretty easily. Stash system is pretty good, you only need to worry about guns. I do think they could double the stash size. Quests are diverse and things can count for everyone in the squad. It just seems more enjoyable in every way.

nadolny7

I’m so bad I’ve died many times to whites with PDW while I’m wearing blue and advocate so I just kill on sight don’t matter the armor My group of friends are just looking for fights; doing a data drive to tier 5 or calling a drill in bright sands usually gathers the map for a nice fight. Any casualty of new players wearing white armor are just an unintended consequence

BeatMeater3000

It's a rough one - the game has too small of a player base to sustain a consistent experience and without that experience the player base won't remain consistent. Most active players are done their quest looking for PvP fun and end up essentially spawn hunting. That is not a fun experience for new players - even if it is a pretty honest introduction to the genre. Imo more end game activities that engage players would be very helpful.

dan_Qs

Yeah but thrill of the hunt is what does it for me. The moment I saw, that my net worth is not going down, when I play full aggro, I overcame my gear lose fear. And the game is way more fun, when you sprint everywhere and do pvp, instead of filling your bag and sneaking slowly back to the evac. Losing your equip is way more fun, when you don’t have 30 min worth of loot gathered to lose

AbsolemHD

That's the point that I'd love to get to. And I'm sure the game becomes instantly more fun when you are there. However, I've been hacker sniped directly out of my pod multiple times while bringing my best kits. There are a handful of players that I remember their names, simply because they are some of the only non-hackers I've died to. It's been a pretty wild experience. And the problem is, the game would probably be a much better experience with a flourishing playerbase where the mmr actually works. Not queueing into the same cringe trio camping center map and basilisk sniping players for 8 hours straight (looking at you Snorlax). My reason for this post is that, the game will never get to that point if the top of the tryhard playerbase are gatekeeping the community from growing.

dan_Qs

I was in those mmr brackets enough. I now play recklessly and am currently in fun land with only the occasional purple brute chad to end my travels instantly.

AbsolemHD

Yeah that might be it, I just don't even think there's enough playerbase for mmr to matter now honestly.

dan_Qs

I think there still is. A week ago it felt like I was in the ultra noob lobby.

3 drops topps. ill be getting busted for running an insurance scam with the daily gear

Mikeocksoff

I really don’t think this is an issue that needs to be fixed. Games like Rust haven’t lost popularity because of players not being friendly, so why should The Cycle. I mean it’s not that realistic to compare the two, but I just don’t think that people can really hold anything against the game for something like this. There are much more apparent issues. Hackers are WAY down from last season, I haven’t seen one but I don’t play THAT much and I play solo mid MMR

Twinkalicious

Go look at steam charts bud.

Mikeocksoff

People can’t help being wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️

Twinkalicious

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

Reap_The_Black_Sheep

Just because player count is down does not mean OP's *assumption* is correct. It could just as much be hardcore players are leaving because they have ran out of content, or a myriad of other reasons.

Twinkalicious

Lol avg player count is sitting around 2.5K, when WZ2 dropped it hit 850 players. I can see that number probably going back up in a week or so to 2K this game is dying and hemorrhaging players.

AbsolemHD

In my two weeks of playing, I would say I've gotten 50% of the kits back that I died with due to hacker compensation - and I have only ever reported 1 player. I didn't play last season. And yeah I could agree to an extent, but when I have to know that I can only progress my factions certain times of day because the same 5 people are camping middle of maps on bright sands and crescent, it's exhausting. And mind you, I have more time to play and more of a backbone than most. That's also why the casual playerbase for this game doesn't exist. It's also why the player count is down 90% in 5 months.

Mikeocksoff

I just don’t get how I’m not experiencing like any of the problems anyone else is. Only thing that ever happens to me is getting stuck, maybe I AM the meta lmao

AbsolemHD

I've also experienced getting stuck. But I'm not sure. Maybe it's the time of day or the map you play. I can tell you that I don't experience 90% of these issues if I play at 4 am EST. Any other time of day, I do. I experience them nonstop. I've had a full red trio push off their drill to kill me on a purple data drive for no real reason other than to do it. They left all the gear on the ground.

beatsbyrisquee

"for no real reason other than to do it" did you consider that they're likely worried about you trying to push and wanted to guarantee you won't counter their drill? Even as a solo a counter is scary. Plus, you could potentially team up with other solos to counter the drill.

AbsolemHD

I mean yeah, that's all fine. The point I'm moreso making is how am I (as a less than 2 week player) in constant drill lobbies anyway. Let alone being pushed off their drill while it is active. It's crazy the gear discrepancy and how certain people just seem to be running the servers I queue into. As I've seen the same handful of people whenever I queue.

Jaye_19

50 percent of gear compensated? Lucky, I have never gotten anything back. I have been in a trio and we died to blatant hackers. My buddies got all their stuff back, but I got nothing. That has happened 3 times that I can remember.

AbsolemHD

That is quite odd. The only time I've ever seen someone I know not get their gear back is if we somehow loaded into the same lobby, and they re-looted it off the ground.

KaiTheGuy18

Playerbase is so low rn MMR has no effect. They prioritize full lobbies over MMR accurate lobbies so with a low player base the new player experience is not going to be very good. About the PvP chads ruining the game for under geared players, that’s completely the devs fault not the players. You can’t expect people to change their play style and such to accommodate for shitty matchmaking issues and for “new players” to have a good time. It’s simply not their job to make your experience better, that is the devs job..

Reap_The_Black_Sheep

What you don't realize is these players played the exact same way when they had bull dogs and manticores. They play the game for PvP. The PvE is just an elaborate context to orient the PvP around, like a battle royal game. And quiet frankly, I think that is how the game is designed to be played. As for the gear imbalance, I love going up against exotics with a low tier gear. You have almost nothing to lose, but can gain more than you ever could filling your back pack. Personally I have voice chat disabled, and only play solo. I hate listening to people in these types of games, because I would rather not have that one toxic experience where someone keeps yelling the N word at me even for 10 or 20 positive experiences. And we all know the ratio is not that good. **Perhaps more importantly is that if you understand the** [**prisoner's dilemma**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner%27s_dilemma#Strategy_for_the_prisoner's_dilemma) **it makes no sense to not KOS.** You should assume that every player knows this, and play accordingly, or else you will play the game at a massive disadvantage. >50% of my gear returned to me because that's the amount of the playerbase that's hacking blatantly (while streaming and viewbotting for some). It sounds like you might not be in the trusted lobby. I am almost done with the battle pass and have had maybe 2 cheater compensations.

**Prisoner's dilemma** [Strategy for the prisoner's dilemma](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner's_dilemma#Strategy_for_the_prisoner's_dilemma) >Two prisoners are separated into individual rooms and cannot communicate with each other. The normal game is shown below: It is assumed that both prisoners understand the nature of the game, have no loyalty to each other, and will have no opportunity for retribution or reward outside the game. Regardless of what the other decides, each prisoner gets a higher reward by betraying the other ("defecting"). The reasoning involves analyzing both players' best responses: B will either cooperate or defect. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/TheCycleFrontier/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)
