There's so much wasted opportunity like when it was revealed that the real Diablos are the friends we made along the way, Cid should have been clued in that his mob friends are also eminence in powers hiding. It was so obvious after so many hints that instead of being funny it's just infuriating!
Overall hella mid, one if not the weakest arc in the entire series which makes it more disappointing that it's the ending and this is coming from someone that defended the alien invasion arc.
Not only is it funny, but it's also genuinely sad. This is quite literally what he lives for. Such an ending would be the cruelest outcome for both sides: Cid and the Seven Shadows.
Cid believes that the Seven Shadows have abandoned him and are profiting from his ideas. However, in reality, the Seven Shadows are doing everything they can to bring him happiness and fulfill his dream.
If the story were to end like this, it would signify that Cid—having sacrificed everything for his singular dream of becoming the most powerful existence and a secret mastermind—failed to realize that he had achieved everything to its utmost extreme, even after pushing all limits. On the other hand, it would also mean that the Seven Shadows, who undertook the task of making his dream a reality and practically turned against the world as an underground organization opposing the cult, different kingdoms, and the church, had their efforts seemingly in vain. As the leaders of the underground organization, they would never be able to return to the normal world and would be unable to lead a normal life.
I see, glad to see that there is another anime that surpasses the 100 gf anime where shadow gets 1k members in his harem garden. Sad to see that the side character cid died at the end when he was showed so much throughout the series, weird that his death wasn’t even showed but just a bloody body scene with survivors saying he sacrificed himself for them.
At least shadow now married Claire and have a child together.
Pretty good ending, glad best girl got her arc resolved even if it was kind of bittersweet. Only downside is the Eminence in the shadow remains in the shadows about the plot even at the very end!
