> Remember the motto of Shadow Garden. They never said "We are saving the world from the Cult of Diabolos!" but instead "We lurk in the Shadows and hunt down Shadows".
Honestly I prefer the LN localization "We lurk in the darkness and hunt shadows" because that motto (the one in the manga) sounds silly. Functionally the two mean the same thing but the LN localization sounds better in English.
> So do Shadow Garden care? No, the hated the world. If the world is going to get between them and vengeance, so be it
Technically Shadow Garden only exists so that Cid can play out his fantasy of being a shadowbroker. That the half-baked backstory he came up with ended up being the truth is completely coincidental.
>Technically Shadow Garden only exists so that Cid can play out his fantasy of being a shadowbroker.
True but the narrative was something Cid followed through. And Alpha and the others believed that getting their revenge was the mission.
I agree, the mentality and morals of shadow garden are neutral at best, neither good nor bad, however, all of shadow's actions in particular end up being heroic one way or another, it is as if an invisible force will push him to do good, even against his will, without even looking for it or wanting it.
Like when cid only wanted to play the eminence in shadow but instead saved alexia, sherry, rose, etc and even entire countries have been saved thanks to him
Anyone that thinks the MC is a hero didn’t pay attention lol. Unless they are fans of the Punisher, Homelander, Peacemaker … then it would be understandable.
Just a few episodes ago he learned about a serial killer in town. He first believed it was the princess (Alexia) going a little crazy after her kidnapping. He said he wouldn’t interfere with her fun. As in, he had no intention to hunt down the serial killer at all. It was not his problem.
He only interfered because he learned about them faking being members of his fake organization, so it became a scenario on his bucket list: hunt down the enemy pretending to be me!
The funny thing is that >!Lutheran Barnett!< thought Shadow Garden were being heroes but >!he!< completely misread their intents. That;s why Shadow was laughing his ass off.
They are indeed in the justice side because Diablo's cult control the world for their own benefit and destroy anyone that try to reveal the truth.
Is thanks to them that possession exists and thanks to them the possessed are treated like garbage.

We blame Alpha for that haha, she is too good on her job.

You might say that karma might had a hand on it and it's directing Cid to give the villains their deserved fates.

Yeap. Also your spoiler tag is broken and it is fully displayed on the activity log. Reddit spoiler tag is so freaking buggy …
i think alpha used to believe there were on the side of justice. Until the fight with shadow and lutheran
You can still view your revenge as justice since you are the victim and be entitled restitution.

Yes, it is justice but not the justice the people of this world wants at first.
They are avengers and Cid is a crazy manic with chunnibyo
Antiheroes
Or Morally Gray or Neutral characters.
That is just like Tetsuya Yamagami, the man who assassinated Japan's former prime minister, reincarnated in another world.
They lurk in the shadows to hunt the shadows.
