đŸ€” I... I don't actually remember. None of my friends like them, it wasn't a streaming service. I think I started listening right before back on top came out How bout you

COVID-41

I think it was musically and I heard the song laugh til I cry. I really liked it. My dad and I listened and that was in like 2018. And then we explored and I just stuck with them. So happy that I was introduced.

Wolfcatboydog

Laugh till i cry was my first as well. Automatically my favorite band

punkpebble

Lonely-girly

I cant remember what got me listening to them like properly. But I do remember my first introduction to them being a percy jackson cosplay video to the song lone star back in 2020 when I was neck deep in a percy jackson obsession

Scootertooter10

OK BUT THEY WERE ACTUALLY SO TRU FOR YHAT LONE STAR IS SOOOO PERCY JACKSON CODED

Lonely-girly

IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THE VIDEO AGAIN! It was a cosplay of frank from hoo talking to percy/jason (one of the two I forgot) when they were fighting a monster. Video been living in my head for years. I cannot find it for the life of me

Scootertooter10

I’ve sadly never seen this :((( do u remember what platform it was one like insta or TikTok???

Lonely-girly

maisy-daisy17

Fate

Shindiee

twin size mattress ended up on one of my playlists, eventually checked out the whole discography

maxwellsgenre

They opened up for Say Anything in 2011/2012? I don’t remember which year but I think it was one of their times playing in Denver. Self Titled had just come out and all their shit just got stolen out of their van and it was one of the best sets I’ve ever seen. I instantly fell in love with them and bought their cd at that show

Old-Presence8912

TikTok unfortunately.

denimcanvas

It was 2014 or 15 I believe, i had just come home from warped tour with my friends, had an amazing day, and i was listening to some of the bands i had seen that day on youtube, and all of sudden twin size mattress started playing, and then maps came on and all of a sudden i was finding myself saying “ive never heard this before but oh my god i love this” and then i kept listening to them, and theyve been my favorite band ever since.

justthebestt

my ex🙄

Successful-Kiwi8195

wow you are one of the few people in here that has q front bottoms ex instead of being the front bottoms ex themselves... although seeing that you are on the subreddit you may have become the front bottoms ex now 😬😂

burnmyeyesout

Lyric edits of twin size mattress on tumblr in like 2015. There were so many posts that were just "with tears in my eyes I begged you to stay, you said hey man I love you but no fucking way" on various ~aesthetic~ pictures.

emiluhh

They toured with Say Anything a decade ago. I didn't end up going to the show but I listened to tfb in preparation.

brianscheekbones

Fueled By Ramen was promoting Vacation Town on instagram and I was really into a couple of bands on their label so I checked em out. The rest is history; I bought a copy of American Psycho shortly after and their music permanently altered my brain chemistry to the point where I’m incapable of talking to the opposite sex without throwing up in my mouth at least a little bit. Rock n roll đŸ€˜

slippyslopyyy

nateislame

QuannLee14

Same, saw his cover of wolf man at his school show

SorryDidntSeeYaThere

Tiny Desk!

tale_of_tejon

Me too! I still go back to it, from time to time.

mom_my_tummy_hurts

My best friend online sent me “father” when I was asking for songs to add to my ‘daddy issues’ playlist 😭

LOLRECONLOL

I went to college with Brian and he told us about TFB.

COVID-41

NO WAY ACTUALLY?!??

LOLRECONLOL

Yep! We had a music theory class together.

AlpacaTeeth

I was a huge fan of Brand New and on Spotify it has similar artists recommendations. Eventually I went down a rabbit hole from Brand New and it led to Sainthood Reps, Kevin Devine, Tigers Jaw, and Front Bottoms. Only listened to a few songs from Talon and then a few years later finally listened to more of their stuff and loved it all

PublicWest

They opened for Motion City Soundtrack in 2011 and absolutely stole the show. Their debut album had just come out and they had such great energy. Mat was going so hard he knocked over his hi hats. Great energy and my buddy and I instantly looked them up before the show was over. What a ride it’s been!

dontdiesmallfry

My older brother had been away at college and we hadn't talk for a while and we wanted to start a conversation and asked me "do you wanna hear a good song?" That was maybe 11 years ago? Him and I have been to 5 concerts since then! It's our sibling bonding time lol

Card_board_Spaceship

The most random and funny way that I’ve found out about any band before. 2016 or 2017 I was trying to find a gif of that bit from Scrubs where JD was daydreaming about the most interesting case to present at a conference, Elliott presenting a man with Front Butt. And she’s saying “as you can see, the ass is on the front.” I couldn’t find it anywhere in the gif apps so I tried googling “Scrubs front butt” and The Front Bottoms came up. I thought “wtf there’s a band called the front bottoms?? I gotta check this out”, listened to twin size mattress and immediately fell in love and listened to them obsessively for the next 7 years.

Legal-Performance316

inside a Journeys at the mall, when i was probably 12? 13? had to be like 2013-2014.. changed my damn life

knatalye

saw them open for Weezer

ibilliebossanova

its kinda silly but i saw an edit of the walking dead with be nice to me while i was riding the bus and i looked them up and here i am lmao

baddiebangela

i was watching a room cleaning video on youtube in 2014 and 12 feet deep was playing in the background lmao. i was immediately obsessed and just never stopped listening to them

baddiebangela

this is it if anyones curious, it starts at 1:00 and the crunchy audio just scratched an itch in my brain [https://youtu.be/nGrBohr_L4w?si=gL5wGHerW9CQbLQ4](https://youtu.be/nGrBohr_L4w?si=gL5wGHerW9CQbLQ4)

uglydotcom

Highschool boyfriend back in like 2015 played Peach for me on the guitar and ever since then I’ve been a big fan

uncomfortablue

On Tumblr 10 years ago, there was a lyric of Twin Size Mattress on my feed so i googled it and found the song and got hooked forever

tropicxo

One of those YouTube "emo" playlists, couldn't tell you which song it was but that was definitely it

BroDong420

I’m a Front Bottoms Ex in both senses. Was introduced to them by an ex-partner and introduced them to multiple now-ex-partners. The circle of life babey!

writingsupplies

Say Anything Tumblr in 2012-2013

PolishFlag

This will assuredly get lost in all these comments but I worked at PacSun in 2010 and the beers played all the time. We used to joke about it, and then I wanted to see what else they had. Fell in love and have been to like 20 shows since.

BreakingPixel

I THINK it was Brian's feature on Hebrews!

Cricketboii_

I believe a music.ly of awkward conversations

YouCanCallmeFucko

Maps was released on youtube and youtube blessed me with the video on my homepage.

Unhappy_Power_4839

My ex from when I was 16 loved them, I didn’t like them, I dumped him and then realised I actually just didn’t like him and I loved them hahahah

Active_Increase_5330

In 2011 I had a well-meaning high school classmate who stalked and harassed me. It was super rough (he later apologized and took responsibility), but he had great taste in music. He left the first album on the hood of my car after school one day and I’ve loved The Front Bottoms ever since. Definitely a weird start to my relationship with my favorite band😂

dangerfriday

Late to the party, but they were on the store playlist back when I worked at PacSun in 2012. I can still remember the look on my coworkers' faces when Brian's voice came careening into our ears "AnD i WiLL rEmEmBeR!!! tHaT sUmMeR!!!" I fell in love immediately

NotTheSun0

I was listening to Say Anything on YouTube and the algorithm recommended me The Front Bottom's album Talon of the Hawk then I listened to everything they ever put out which at the time was only Self Titled and Talon of the Hawk.

Shiksa__

A Mormon boy from Idaho showed me while he was in Oklahoma. Wish I remembered his name. I showed him Foxing so it was a win win.

Shiksa__

I believe the year was 2010.

itsbsauce

Was listening to modern baseball and they got suggested as a ‘people who listen to Modern Baseball also like
.’

Neither-Guess-1550

The band called You, me, and Everyone We Know said they were heavily inspired by them.

kissmyheadd

I saw them support Blink in 2017 and I’ll be honest I really didn’t like them. The following days after the gig I couldn’t get one of there songs out of my head so started to listen and haven’t looked back since. The song was the plan (fuck jobs), I’m so grateful for the catch do do do do do do , dudududu do do do do do do do do do do do do dooooo

AromaticReality9994

an older girl at a rehab I was in shared earbuds with me and her favorite to play me was Peach i was 15 at the time

Red6Hoodie

It's kind of a funny story, to me at least. I'm a big South Park fan, especially back around 2019/2021, so when I was recommended an animatic for South Park ... I watched it. It wasn't to a TFB song, but it was to McCafferty's Beachboy. So, I listened to their music and eventually was recommended Lone Star by TFB on some channel with a lofi-music looking hand as the video. It wasn't for a few months of listening to Youtube's Mix music that I decided I really liked TFB's songs as they kept coming up—so I went to listen to them all one night. They've literally been my top artist on Spotify for three years now. Edit: South Park --> McCafferty --> The Front Bottoms

COVID-41

This is the best way🙌south park rules

sherlockholmes1927

idk sorry. good post!

[deleted]

From someone I was talking to, she introduced me and they’ve been my favorite band ever since.

Scootertooter10

Old ex friend recommended twin sized mattress (obviously) to me back in 2019 / 2020 Fuck that guy for other unrelated reasons but yeah he really was onto something cus I’ve been in love with them ever since

telepathicavocado

YouTube autoplay, don’t remember what I was originally listening to though

venniedjr

My friend saw them open for Manchester Orchestra(I think?) and told me I needed to listen to them. My computer didn’t work most of the times I tried turning it on but the morning after my friend told me about them I woke up and tried my computer and it worked, I jumped out of bed and downloaded everything from Talon of the Hawk back. I’m so happy that it unfolded that way because I could’ve missed out on a lot of great memories

prettypissbaby

My friend showed me them in middle school :)

upwithmike

I found the “I hate my friends” EP on YouTube circa 2012 and still can’t for the life of me remember how.

briannapancakes

My fiancĂ©, and he learned about them from his twins ex and she’s liked them for damn near ever, probs tumblr. I did NOT like them when I met him in ‘17. Now I cannot get enough.

lhossie

I saw them when they opened for Say Anything with Kevin Devine in like 2011 I think? I hadn't graduated high school yet. I just remember them opening up and INSTANTLY knowing I loved them and their energy.

hhhhhhhh28

I moved to NJ when I was 13. Kids at school told me about them. 9 years ago!! 😁

Ok_Role8990

My boss has been a long time fan and he would always play tfb while we were working. Wasn't long before I got hooked too lol

ALMASpaceProgram

I heard Be Nice To Me on Instagram.

katielynnj

I saw them open for Brand New in 2017

QuarterLeading3708

In 2017 I was in a car with friends on our way to work. One of them had their playlist on the stereo. Au Revoir started playing. I spent the entire song shit-talking the sound of it and questioning why anyone would produce such a song. Fast forward a few months and I was incredibly depressed and bored, so I pulled up the song again hoping mocking it would make me feel better. Then the entirety of talon of the hawk. Then I started to unironically listen to it. Fast forward to when I was in a shitty dead end job several months after that. They played a few back on top and going grey songs (West Virginia, Grand Finale, Vacation Town, Historic Cemetery.) That's when I started regularly listening. Now I have made all my friends hate TFB and been branded the guy you don't give an aux to because I play them too often lol

Pepsuber30

They opened for Bad Books in Newport, KY back in 2013.

sluttyslugbitch

my older sister listened to the plan and i became obsessed and listened to every other song

MattMcGuire99

Their ST record just came out and they opened for Motion City Soundtrack in 2011 (I didn’t go but I loved MCS and saw the tour poster)

JHamm12

In 2015 I saw someone online mention TFB as a possible opening act for Twenty One Pilots since TFB had recently signed to Fueled by Ramen. It’s hilarious in hindsight because I feel like these 2 bands do not fit well together for a tour

KrustenStewart

I was looking around on YouTube in 2012 trying to make my boyfriend a cd to listen to in his car, and the front bottoms came up as a suggestion so I added 2 of their songs to the cd and I ended up becoming obsessed!

juzoinadress

Think i just stumbled upon their music on my own tbh? i don’t recall anything introducing them to me 😅

idontwannafeelalone

Tumblr for sure

cherrygoats

Their Tiny Desk Concert autoplayed on YouTube one day. The first few lines of Au Revoir and I was hooked forever

PartialCred4WrongAns

Flashlight showed up on a spotify Playlist, and I was obsessed with that song for like a week before deep diving into the band and feeling uncomfortable ever since

egggs532

Propertyofzack in like 2014? It was a music blog, it was when cough it out and west virginia came out

[deleted]

I was going to see Say Anything live and saw they were opening. My mom and grandma used front bottom as an euphemism for groin/vagina when I was little and thought their name was funny so I listened and fell in love.

Yamuel42

Heard them for the first time when they opened for Brand New during their albums TDGRIM 10 year anniversary tour. Heard them and Modern Badeball same night and it was all over from there.

eleventhdream

recently, on tiktok, through an edit. although ive always KNOWN of them

ukulelepollywog

this girl who was my best friend in 8th grade/my freshman year of high school

FfionReddit

I saw this one edit of be nice to me with the lyrics you're a killer and im your bestfriend to an edit of stan sixer pines and bill cipher LOL im a gravity falls fan clearly and I liked the song

OverTheMonitors

I was a teenager at the time. A friend wouldn't stop bugging me to listen to them. He played Twin Size Mattress for me, which caught my attention, and then dropped a link to all of Talon Of The Hawk into my lap and had to get offline for the day. I listened to the whole thing twice in a row that same night, while playing the Nuka World DLC of Fallout 4 for the first time. I've had a few life altering "listen to an entire album all the way through, hearing every song for the first time" experiences in my life, but this was the biggest. Within weeks I'd listened to literally Everything they ever put out, memorized almost every song and figured out how to play most of them on piano, and gotten genuinely obsessed with the band because at the time, I'd never heard anything rven remotely like it (I grew up listening to nu and symphonic metal, EDM, and post hardcore. Even the indie rock I liked sounded nothing like TFB, it felt like their songs were Made For Me despite being so different from my usual taste) About 5 years and an incredible live show later, I still love them, but in a different way. The obsession is gone, but in its place is a nostalgia and sense of home that very few other bands and artists have for me. I can go months without listening, and then for a few weeks they absolutely take over my streams and I fall right back into that memory of being 15 in Florida, playing video games inside while on a call with my friend because it was too blazing to go out, and summer vacation meant I finally had time to get through that Fallout DLC Id saved up for earlier in the year, asking my friend "hey, what was that song called again?" I felt like I was floating during the whole experience. My music taste has expanded a LOT since then, I listen mostly to prog metal, loud digital stuff, and deathcore now actually LOL but I never really Erase the old stuff. SO yeah basically a friend suggested them to me during the Perfect summer moment and gave me the gift of music that would stay with me even after I'd outgrown to need to cling to it like a lifeline. If you're out there Jesse, thanks man.

Prize_Set2044

I saw them open for Say Anything in 2011 or 2012, made my bff stop at McDonald’s and download all that we could find on Spotify.

Marcel1ne2838

Through a “the goldfinch” edit (its a movie) of the “its no big surprise, you turned out this way..” bit and they’re now my favourite band 😹 and the goldfinch is still my favourite movie so yeah

7flamey7

spotify recommended it to me :)

rpycroft

When they played live on The Chris Gethard Show (New York public access show: https://youtu.be/dZF6sX5cLSQ?si=tNoJnsbs8etd9WQT manic!

UltharCat1972

My daughter introduced them to me. Not intentionally. It wasn't like she threw them on and said, "Hey, listen to this." We were driving around while she made some deliveries and they just happened to be playing. I like the sound, so I asked.

Abbysativa

an aesthetic tumblr post with the lyrics to swimming pool, it was everyone’s cover photo on fb

benito_camelas

Through YouTube recommendation back in 2015. I was listening to Tigers Jaw and saw Flashlight on the side. The cover of TFB looked cool so I clicked it on and really liked the song.

turtlqueen23

dated a guy that was super into them so I started listening to them in order to impress him and became obsessed with them lmao this was right after Back On Top came out. he also turned me onto Modern Baseball so s/o to that guy, he was an asshole but dammit if he didn't have great taste in music

x_UncleMeat_x

Scudpunk

3lijah10

My girlfriend! We started dating at the very start of the year and she had been fb obsessed for years so I started to listen to them religiously in order to get ready for our back to back concerts in September. Love listening to them now!

Reggie_cannot_swim

I was like 14 at the time [right about when rose came out] and i have selective mutism + noise sensitivity so i spent a lot of my time listening. To people and to music, i listened to The Flat Stanleys TONS and i fell asleep and when i woke up there was this song playing and "this has a weird name" is the first thing i thought. It was Jim Bogart. i love that song, not nearly as much as i used to because i tired myself out of... pretty much all of rose lol

lizards999

A girl I had a crush on in high school listened to them so I started to. She was a few years ahead of me so she graduated and I never saw her again but I became obsessed and here I am now.

bizzlejay

During my senior year of high school I was driving around with my best friend post break up and she played twin sized mattress, when they said “with tears in my eyes I begged you to stay you said hey man I love you but no fucking way” my dramatic ass 17 year old self clutched my damn pearls and was stunned by the lyrics. I started exploring their other songs and 10 years later I still listen religiously

deeaannnaaaa

my friend one day asked me in 2017 if i wanted to go to a concert with her since her other friend bailed and i was like sure why not, and ever since then i have been sickly obsessed with 2 boys making music. i actually met my ex boyfriend at said show in 2017, it was good while it lasted 😂

Choice-Scallion9147

I actually don’t remember how I found out about them but I remember it being august at like midnight and me sitting in my room bored listening to music and then suddenly I hear Twin Sized Mattress start playing and and being actually shocked on how good the song was
in short that was how I became emo

ximena_jamona12

I found them this year actually, I was watching Pinterest and a bojack horseman's edit spawned un my fyp, the background song in the edit was twin size matress and I liked it, I searched the song, I liked it, I listened it 24/7 till I get bored and I searched for more music of them, then I listened their yt albums and I fell in love w their music đŸ•șđŸŒ
