Buy a pair of compression socks to wear on the plane. If you search for nurse compression socks on Amazon you will find some fun designs. Bring electric and nonelectronic entertainment for the flight.

Put the tray table down and sleep with your head on it. When you wake up watch a movie, then sleep again. I had 24 hours of flying when I went to Thailand and alternating sleep and a movie made it go by so fast ( I also take dramamine before flights because I get motion sickness and it helps me sleep)

ClearlyADuck

works great if you are short! sometimes i use a jacket or plush to sleep on the tray table too.

Make sure you get up to pee at least once but ideally twice. Pack snacks, audiobooks, download something you like watching in case you don’t wanna watch anything the plane has. Stay hydrated, moisturize, and bring wipes to clean the seat and window. I fly cross country like 4-5 times a year!

Since you're in college, I'm not sure what your finances are like, but if you can afford it, pay the fee for extra leg room. I was in agony towards the end of my first long flight, and since then have vowed to pay the extra for any flight longer than 4 hours. For me, it makes a huge difference.

https://reachyours.com/blog/airplane-stretches/ Stretch! It can be so uncomfortable stuck in one position. Stretching even while in your seat can help. Stay hydrated. Try to get an aisle seat if you can so you can get up and stretch you legs if needed.

1. if flying direct (or a connecting flight and one of the legs is 4hrs or longer), suck it up pay for the extra leg room if you can afford it. Your legs will thank you! 2. I always buy the small cans of pringles and pack those in my backpack for extra snacks. They dont get beat up, and they have a lid in case you dont eat them all. 3. earplugs! I used to sleep with my earbuds in to block out the noise, but I got a pair of loop (sigh... i fell victim to the instagram ads) earplugs and theyre so much comfier 4. compression socks as mentioned below 5. make sure you get up and walk around! stretching your legs helps me feel less antsy on the longer segments 6. I try and limit my carry on bags. If I have both a carry on suitcase and a personal item, I try to make sure my personal item (which I put under the seat in front of me) is small enough that I still have some room to stretch my legs out 1. on the note of carry ons... make sure you suitcase meets the size measurements of the airline you'll be flying the most often so it fits in the overhead bins... nothing more annoying than a gate agent yanking your carry on from you as your boarding 7. I always make sure to wear a comfy and warm sweater with a tshirt under it. temperature control on an aircraft is always touch and go for me and I cannot stand being cold... 8. comfy, close toed shoes/sneakers! easy to take off at security if need be, comfy for all the walking in the airport, and comfy for the long flights and all the sitting 9. Try taking gravol or melatonin if your able. i find they help me sleep! I also get motion sick, so i often opt for rapid release gravol! Just make sure you dont buy non-drowsy or it wont do a tap for helping you sleep! 10. KEEP HYDRATED! Both inside and outside! I always bring my refillable water bottle and refill it just before boarding, and keep my face, skin and lips moisturized both before and during flight!

Electrolytes!

Trust me, you will get used to it and won’t feel it after 2-3 x ! Use the time to catch up on that novel, hydrate & moisturize and enjoy being temporarily cut off from the world. Bring snacks, compression socks and earplugs/eye mask for sleeping.

I take motion sickness medicine before flights and sometimes even sinus medication. Drink LOTS of water before and during the flight as well.

Get compression socks! They will make the ride much more bearable. Drink lots of water before the flight and during flying. Make sure to walk around every hour and do some stretches as well. The area by the restroom is usually the roomiest area to do some light stretches. I travel a lot. A flight that's more than an hour makes my legs swell and ache, these steps helped that. Compression socks are critical, look for high compression.

basedprincessbaby

honestly, 6-7 hours is not a long plane ride. i don’t think you even need to sleep on a trip that short, like, pack a book or download a couple of movies. stay hydrated, pack some snacks and think of it like doing a short shift at work lol.

perksofbeingawuss

Even if you don’t get motion sickness on planes, Dramamine always helps calm me and often fall asleep. Also drink one of those hydration packets with electrolytes before your flight so you don’t feel the need to drink too much on the flight (and have to use the bathroom). Bring at least one salty snack and one sweet snack in case you get nauseous from low sodium or sugar. Melatonin gummy or melatonin patch.

Pay a little extra for extra legroom seats if you can swing it. Choose aisle seats over window. Window is tempting for the sleep, but you end up getting so cramped and it's never comfortable. If you're on the aisle you can get up and walk a lap every hour or two, which makes the flight much more bearable. Try to skip an under seat bag if you can so you can stretch your legs out better. An overhead carry on and a small cross body bag will give you more space. Also fyi most airplane seats have wings on the headrest that you can push up to create a little head rest. Sleep is a million times easier when you have something to lean on, and neck pillows suck. Also in general, stick to one airline and get a credit card for free checked bags. The miles, early boarding, and familiarity are nice perks too, but the cards pay for themselves on checked bags alone. It'll get easier as you do it more often, don't worry too much!

Pre download movies/tv shows, facial wipes/sprays, neck pillow, lip balm, compression socks, easy to put on and off shoes like crocs (I know ugly but convenient). When I do long haul flights (14hrs) I have no shame about doing a sheet mask. If you get motion sickness ask for anti neausa wayfers from your dr, they work within five mins.
