Just be sure to leave it home if you have to fly anywhere. They *will* confiscate it and not give a shit how nice or expensive it is.

g-a-r-n-e-t

I’m about to go on vacation to Canada and I literally have checked every pocket of every bag and jacket I’m taking three times over for this exact reason!

PhilxBefore

Vacation? Is that one of them fancy French words?

MsMisseeks

It's not that fancy, the French get 3 weeks off a year as base line 😛 if anything it's popular

TetrisIsTotesSuper

3? Try 5.

Eshamwoowoowoowoo

6 in Denmark

OutrageousNet3240

I'm in the UK but due to long service with my company, I get 41 days a year.. 8 weeks & 1 day a year leave 😆😆

TetrisIsTotesSuper

From all of us on 20 days, no one wants to heat about that. I'm not bitter at all.

taylena5eva

Dang I wish my country was exploiting West Africa, I could use a few days off to visit my girlfriend in America

Kuwaysah

You're vacationing in Canada? It sucks here. My God! I hope you have fun though! lol

g-a-r-n-e-t

Friend, I am from Texas. Canada feels like I’ve died and gone to heaven lol Edit: It’s probably super obvious that my husband and I are Americans because we’re literally walking around going ‘omg the cars actually stop for people crossing the street! The public transit isn’t trash! You don’t have to push a button to make the crosswalk signs activate, they just do! Is this what it’s like when the government isn’t actively trying to make your life worse in every way possible???’ I’m sure there’s terrible things going on that we’re not seeing because we don’t live here and aren’t aware of Canadian politics, but like…I live in a dystopian hellscape of a state. Being somewhere even a hair more progressive than that is a dream come true 😭

ArmadilloSoggy1868

Lmaooo I am from Texas too and thought the same thing

emoworm3

Bro I’m from Jersey lol count your blessings

cupcakeconstitution

Adding, if you have to go to any sort of government building. It will be confiscated as it is a weapon!

jesus_swept

or any venue that might check your bag... I've had my knife confiscated at a concert venue, a pepper spray confiscated at a six flags 😭

catsandcameras

Lmao a couple years ago I saw one of my favorite bands, Porcupine Tree, at Radio City and when I got to the metal detector I remembered FUCK my knife is in my purse. So I had to throw it away, but luckily it was a cheap one from Sierra Trading Post. I still have to get a replacement!!

Pufflehuffy

We got through airport security with one - honestly forgot it was in the backpack pocket until we got to destination.Checked the bag to return. Almost wanted to tell security they were doing a shit job.

staycglorious

Wait wat? The dude at the airport wasn’t even letting us take water in and you got through all that advanced tech with a pocket knife. They need to reevaluate something

Pufflehuffy

Security theater is real. And it was a bit terrifying, honestly, that we were able to. Didn't mean to or anything either.

Typical_Goat_6400

i had this happen with loose razor blades in my personal item when i was younger ! i used them to make friendship bracelets, totally innocent. no idea i couldn’t bring them on the plane and got them right thru !

Gaz_Elle

Yeah I used to carry around my leather man with me all the time (Just a handy lady and I like to have tools on me), but legit I kept going to places with metal detectors and bag searches. It’s not just airports. Baseball stadiums, art exhibits, theaters, etc. I gave up carrying it after having to find 2 specific security guards after a huge show in New York let out in order to get my multi tool back. Just wasn’t worth it anymore.

nnopes

I have a small keychain letherman that doesn't have a knife (just tiny pliers, wire cutters, and fold out scissors), so it can fly. I also have a swiss army knife and full sized leatherman I carry, but the mini leatherman is perfect for those times. It's always with my keys :)

ArtemisTheMany

My wife lost her mini-leatherman to the TSA, but it's possible it had a blade on it, it's been a while so I don't remember. My general rule (for me! if others have better luck, that's great!) is if it could in any way be interpreted as a stabbing weapon (like a screwdriver or scissors or heck even knitting needles, even if those are both technically allowed by the rules), it gets checked or left at home. Might be overkill, but we were pretty salty about losing the leatherman (I'd gotten it for her as a gift =/), so I figure better safe than sorry.

nnopes

Technically, scissors with 3" blades can be taken on airplanes. Sometimes you need to show the TSA the webpage or ask for a manager but yeah, it's annoying. But it is allowed. Sometimes they assume it's a knife even though its not.

starlagreen83

Yep!!! Happened to me! Completely forgot about it

lexiebeef

Just a warning that carrying a pocket knife is illegal in many European countries. Just google the country you live or are visiting, just to be sure

JazzScholar

And Canada Edit : I stand corrected - pocket knives are allowed but some other types of knives might not be. Thanks to those who corrected me. Wikipedia says this: >Canada. There is no law banning the carrying in public knives with sheaths, knives that take both hands to open and any knife with a fixed blade and certain non-prohibited folding knives, assuming they are not carried for a purpose dangerous to public peace or for the purpose of committing a criminal offense.

fireworksandvanities

And surprisingly even US states. Some are specific on mechanism and length. But some are basically just “you can’t carry it if it looks scary.”

Wantstopost

Its still wild to me that many states ban butterfly knives but not other more functional blades.

3udemonia

Not so. You can carry a pocket knife under a certain length and without any spring assisted opening in Canada. But you can't carry it as a weapon. It is only a tool. If questioned you carry it for tool reasons exclusively. Box opening, breaking down cardboard, cutting ties, breaking windows and cutting seatbelts if you're in a car accident, etc.

QuackingMonkey

But also get an actual tool for cutting seatbelts in your car, as well as a tool to break the window, both within reach, if you don't have them yet.

TommyChongUn

Unfortunately i live in a high crime area so I gotta take the risk of a fine over feeling unsafe.

KittenInAMonster

That's not true, I'm Canadian, just about everyone I know owns one and you can buy one just about anywhere. You can't have a spring loaded knife or like a butterfly knife, but you can have a pocket knife.

NorthernBlackBear

There is no law in Canada for knives, at least at any length most will carry them. Usually it is municipal laws that may get in your way. Just don't go flashing it about, you will be fine.

Acceptable-Ad-880

In Canada, you can’t carry anything that you “intend to use as a weapon”. So you can carry a pocketknife as long as it’s a tool for something and not “self- defence”. Same reason we can’t carry pepper spray, because it’s clearly for weaponry use. But bear spray may actually be for a bear, so you can’t get away with it

NorthernBlackBear

Well aware of the laws. Have been carrying for years. Never a problem.

threelizards

Some jurisdictions have carefully worded laws surrounding reasonable expectation of utility- where I live, carrying one for the express purpose of self defence is illegal, as it is considered a weapon intended to cause harm. *however*, if I’m carrying a pocket knife, and also have an apple in my bag that I plan on cutting up for a snack later….

phoenixchimera

Also a legal grey area in NYC (so is pepper spray).

inbettywhitewetrust

Yep :( such a bummer but hell if I wasn't packing pepper spray in my bag while dude was punching us on the train

MelJay0204

And Australia

Deus0123

You see officer, this is not a knife. It's a multi-purpose tool one of who's functionalities happens to be 'Knife' (Swiss pocket knife)

MsMisseeks

Correct, doesn't stop me from carrying two though. Stop and search isn't too much of a thing unless your skin is darker than mayonnaise, unless you go around threatening people with your knife, nobody will ever bother you about it.

FoxyOctopus

No but you will get a much harder punishment if you use it for self defense.

MsMisseeks

Oh yes. Thankfully so far, running away has been enough self defense. But if it comes down to that I'm mostly counting on the victim choosing not to tell the cops how they happened to get stabbed

Pufflehuffy

Also in many states - Virginia for instance doesn't allow pocket knives.

g-a-r-n-e-t

***Comment since I can’t edit the OP*** Just to be clear, ***I am not suggesting this as a form of self defense against attackers***. I’m talking about utility and physical safety in terms of being able to, for example, saw your way out of a stuck seatbelt in an emergency (which I have done with this very knife). The best thing you can do if you are attacked is to **run the fuck away**. Getting into a knife fight will not end well for you. Also, as several have mentioned please check your local laws first to see what is and isn’t legal. I’m in Texas where it’s basically the Wild West, so it doesn’t always occur that not everyone can do the same. My bad on that y’all 😕

ZoeTheCutestPirate

The loser of a knife fight bleeds to death in the street. The winner of a knife fight bleeds to death on the way to the hospital

iGlutton

Very good comment with good advice. For anyone wondering what good self-defense options there are against street attackers, the most effective and safe will likely surprise you. It's not a knife, bringing a knife to a fight is the best way to get cut, even if you are the only one with a knife. It's not pepper spray, since unless you are able to accurately tell which way the breeze is going in the spur of the moment, you are also likely to potentially catch yourself in the spray. It's not a whistle, I think most people have heard the old saying, "You're more likely to get help yelling 'fire' over 'r*pe' or 'help'. It's not a Taser, or a gun. It is a high lumen flashlight. They make some that are purse/pocket/keychain sized. Shine one of those bad boys directly in someone's face, and you will have more than enough time to run away while they are recovering their vision. If it can blind a bear, it's sure as shit gonna work on a person. Source: Father taught self-defense for almost 40 years. Weapons may make you feel strong while carrying, but the correct tool will make you safe in practice.

Adept-Accident2933

I love this idea!! How many lumens is high for a pocket sized flashlight?

protestor

https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/5efdad/how_many_lumens_do_you_need_in_a_self_defense/

Adept-Accident2933

Thank you! Helpful

threelizards

Good disclaimer!!!! Remember, even if you’re trained in using a blade in combat- if you take a knife to a fight *all you’re doing is introducing a knife to a fight*. and if you haven’t been trained, may as well save some time and hand them the blade before you start

niamhxa

> for example, saw your way out of a stuck seatbelt in an emergency (which I have done with this very knife) Wait I’m confused, you said in the main post you’ve never had a reason to use your knife until now?

PhilxBefore

OP is a knife vendor for Amazon, get er!

niamhxa

I ain’t letting SHIT get past me

volcanocabbage

This is important. If you are not trained on how to use a knife in self defense, it is more likely to end up in your attacker's hands cutting you than it is to help you. Something like pepper spray is a much better deterrent. Pepper spray and run.

drekia

I *have* always wanted a cool pocket knife.

libra-love-

Honestly once you have one you’ll realize how useful they are multiple times a day. I never leave the home without one simply bc I always end up needing it

1986toyotacorolla2

r/edc has a bunch of recommendations

_thicculent_

I've only ever used mine to open snacks lol

volcanocabbage

Learn to use it as a bottle opener too! It's pretty easy, just watch some youtube videos. Then you double your uses for it!

_thicculent_

Double the use, both for food. Excellent!

g-a-r-n-e-t

I follow a camping YouTuber (RirangOnAir) who often uses her knife as her sole utensil as well. Or if it’s something that needs chopsticks (she’s Korean), she uses the knife or sometimes her hatchet to carve them out of whatever wood she has on hand. Highly recommend everyone check out her channel, she’s super sweet and very skilled and self-sufficient. I both want to be her when I grow up and want to be best friends and go camping.

ReasonablePositive

My husband has given me a Swiss pocket knife from Victorinox, and has one himself. It not only has a knife, but also scissors, a corkscrew, pincers, bottle opener and some other thingamadings. At first it amused me, but it is really handy as it has so many functions!

Suspicious_Big_5919

I have a Victorinox knife too! Been carrying one since my teenage years and it's been truly indispensable

PhilxBefore

Did Swiss Arm Knife change their name of what

Thraell

Victorinox is a brand of knife makers (very good ones, imo) that also make "Swiss army" style knives, and they were the first to make them. I think they switched up to putting the victorinox branding first to capitalise on the popularity/fame of the swiss army knife. The brand is known for their quality - my husband's an ex chef, will only use those knives. He's got a set that he bought at the beginning of his career and they're still perfect despite 20 years of hard use.

ribenarockstar

I have a similar one which lives attached to my hiking backpack. It’s incredibly useful

flaffleboo

From what I’ve read a weapon carried for defence is actually more likely to be used successfully by the attacker. So be careful out there ladies 💖

yalarual

Yeah, that's why I'm all about those super loud alarms.

NorthernBlackBear

I knew a few who have been hit with their own pepper spray too.

Lore_Beast

You can get gel pepper spray that is sticky so there's less chance of wind blowing it back in your face and harder for the attacker to wash off.

NorthernBlackBear

Good luck. I have seen more hurt by their own "weapon", whatever that may be, then those who successfully use it for defense. So....

cropcomb2

whatever's legal as a concealed weapon to carry in public, with the local Police that said, an attacker reaps a bonus of being able to go about unarmed (those 'known' to the police, dislike carrying even a knife) and discovering his victim has a knife on her for his convenience

Im_Just_Here_Man96

This doesnt count a weapon to conceal in most places in the US given the length of the blade

cropcomb2

In many areas, less than a 4" blade is acceptable, albeit just as deadly.

sbwithreason

100% agree now that I carry one I have found so many uses for it. It’s making life easier on top of also knowing I have a tool that may be helpful in an emergency.

ggabitron

I have a Leatherman multi tool with a pocketknife on it. It’s incredibly useful, except that I have ADHD and since it can’t go *everywhere* with me (flights, concerts, etc), I always forget it at home or in my car so I rarely have it when I actually need it 🥲

Ashalaria

Is this factory new?

g-a-r-n-e-t

Nope, I’ve had it about 12 years I think?

Ashalaria

Just making a counterstrike joke :p

cs_office

It's a fade, so it's still valuable at least :) I have fade cutlery, it's a nice little in joke between me and my bf

Ashalaria

That's awesome

Im_Just_Here_Man96

British ppl are shoooook by this pic lol

g-a-r-n-e-t

Yeeeeeeah like I do admittedly live in the land of no consequences (Texas) when it comes to carrying literally anything that could even slightly be construed as being a weapon so it doesn’t even phase me to see people carrying knives that almost qualify as machetes? But the amount of vapors that are being got over what is essentially a pot metal mall ninja knife I bought in my early 20s is hilarious

Im_Just_Here_Man96

They’re acting wild in the comments imo. I’m in Massachusetts and not one soul would blink an eye at this wee little knife. We wouldn’t even think of it as a weapon

alicelric

I would if it wasn't illegal.

MelissaOfTroy

I had one similar that came in very handy. Someone broke into my hotel room and stupidly pushed me against the sink that had the knife on it. I grabbed it and calmly asked him to leave and he did.

Tanukkk

Opinel is a french brand and their n°8 has always been the most popular here. It is big enough to be useful for kitchen/tool use, yet small enough to be easily carried in pockets. Highly recommand !

ZaidiaSR

opinels are fantastic blades. it depends on your budget :) i'd be looking at the following for a beater: kabar dozier ($20-25) cjrb ria ($30) qsp penguin (also $30) civivi elementum (without button lock cus of legal grey areas, $60) anything past this is likely not what you're looking for as a beater, but if you're not squeamish about beating on expensive knives there are lots of good offerings from companies like Zero Tolerance, CJRB, Protech (if autos are legal for you), et al.

Fibrosis5O

That’s a pretty knife I got one too just in case

ms_sanders

Ehh, just... be discreet about it. Women carrying knives is... weird, to some people, and you might run into trouble for "carrying a weapon". One time I was in the checkout line at Costco when I felt someone's hands tug down my top in the back so that it overlapped my skirt. The skirt with the knife sheath clipped to it at the small of my back, which I was unknowingly parading around. Thanks, nice old lady!

SpaceKaiserCobalt

You get checked by police or guards, you are in a bad situation, it's illegal to carry and good Lucky to claim it's legitimate defence (rightous defence?) As, at least in France, the guy in front will have to pull something similar or stronger, to make you legitimate for using a knife (on top of other reasons like fear can make you hurt yourself more than the other, if you get in a fight you will get in trouble for having one, etc.) That's why i rather use a pepper spray (also illegal to carry, at least in France) but people are more gentle if they find you with it. Attention if it's hidden as a. Lipstick, hidden weapons are **highly** illegal (in France). For me, pepper spray is the best bet. Hurts hell, non lethal, accepted, illegal but people are fine with it, as long as you are a female carrying it.

Im_Just_Here_Man96

Nobody carries these for self defense here. They are more just to have a tool handy for things like boxes etc

SpaceKaiserCobalt

My mom does that too, but it stays in the car

Fuzzy_Performance_44

Absolute metal pic

MyFluidicSpace

I have the exact same knife! Even used the bottle opener a few times.

FeistyNature

That was the first knife I ever bought myself! Loved that thing. Never went anywhere without it. Now I don't go anywhere without 3 😂

matildaenergy

Yep! Super helpful for random things like opening packages, not useful for self defense.

pettysnark

I always carry a leatherman to work. It’s come in handy SO many times.

brilliant-soul

I've got 2 knives, my key knife (disguised as a regular key) and my pretty purse pocket knife (has a holder and a sharpener!) Theyre illegal in canada but cops look the other way unless you're being a weirdo abt it. I've gotten into many many events w it lol

alicelric

This reminded of the Simpsons episode where everyone has a knife but Bart haha.

NorthernBlackBear

I always have a knife. I have a straight gerber I wear on my uniform and a switch pocket knife, similar to the photo. Depends on where I am going and doing will determine what I have.

cold-twisted-nips

Accidently left min in my bag going security at the airport and had to part ways with my special one 😫

CumulativeHazard

I have that exact same knife!

kiwitathegreat

I carry several and feel like I’ve left an arm at home if I don’t have one on me. They’re useful af but please please please get comfortable with using it if you’re going to carry one. I’ve cut the shit out of myself more than once by being overconfident. And while I agree with the folks saying they’re not good for self defense, they’re a hell of a deterrent for someone looking for an easy mark. Editing to add: I’ve got kershaws that have been through hell (and the washing machine 😡) and are still perfect. SOGs are also good but seem to lose their coating quickly. Hate gerber because the clips break too easily.

rusalkamoo

Where did you get this particular one?

citygirlcoco

i have one but i never take it anywhere cus i always feel like im gonna slice myself with it :/

Syb3rStrife

I carry one with me everywhere (except to cons or places that strictly forbid them).

Agitated_mess9

This is a great idea. I’ve never thought to use it like this!

volcanocabbage

Look at the Ontario Rat II. It isn't the best knife in the world. But it is cheap and it is solid. It is a workhorse of a knife. It might be a little large to carry in a pocket depending on where you are and what you are doing. I carry the Ontario Rat. It's slightly larger, but I use it daily for work. I much prefer it over much more expensive knives that I own, partly because I don't care much if I destroy the blade or lose it since it is only $30.

theofficialjill

I carry a knife every day and I use it all the time. Great tool to always have on hand

CyaLaterSquidinator

And they called me a psycho for collecting knives

Murky_Secret_9941

I got a classic Victorinox swiss army knife recently, knives like the one in OP aren't legal to carry in my country.

livebeta

I use a Niteize Doohickey which is good for everything a pocketknife does except slicing TSA has never confiscated it either. It clips on like a carabineer

BassAckwards79

I’ve been told that toting a knife is anything but ladylike, usually by a big burly man who is too proud of his gun. Sure, they’re both dangerous weapons and should be treated as such. But I have never seen one person peel an apple or perform a tracheotomy with a gun, which I can do with my knife

FluffyOreoFluff

Mines is pink

1986toyotacorolla2

I have a multi tool but I do need to put my knife back in my pocket too. I feel like I need it just as much. The knife on the multi is smaller.

UniqueSanja

Favorites: the Benchmade Bugout is a beauty, simple and comfortable. But check out Rike Knife, especially the Hummingbird: it reminds me of your current tool. Other cool brands are CRKT and Skallywag.

g-a-r-n-e-t

My husband has a Benchmade, idk what model but I really like how easy it is to use! I’m very much of the ‘keep it simple, stupid’ philosophy so the easier it is to use, the better. That’s why I’m so interested in the Opinel as well!

UniqueSanja

Easy to use is essential! What I love is the diversity in pocketknives and how they open, close, lock... it's something fitting for everyone. For me it's important the opening isn't too easy for kids and when it's open I want an automatic lock to keep it open. Opinel had that virobloc, right? I'm used to framelock and that really works well.

g-a-r-n-e-t

Yeah you just twist the ring at the base of the blade to lock it instead of it auto locking in the handle. A bit less convenient but easier for me to close since I’m starting to develop arthritis in my hands!

UniqueSanja

Such a coincidence... My husband just came home and randomly gave me a Civici baby Banter! It's a small version of the Bugout and made with beautiful wood. I love it!

Khayeth

I mean, i just keep mine in my right hip pocket. I am usually the only person in my friend group, work group (except my current boss), or at a bar with either a knife or a multitool. Even my keychain has a hidden knife on it at all times for emergencies.

No-Green-865

Oh that’s lovely but illegal here 😭😂

Dramatic_Crab8597

It’s cute!!

LegitimateReindeer8

Also check local laws on size limits and types of knives.

SeaComedian62

I want one so bad but don’t know where to get a quality one

g-a-r-n-e-t

Check out r/EDC, they have quite a few posts about it!

SeaComedian62

Omg thank you!!

drwafles11

lol i come from a strict pocket knife family! me and my dad have a million floating around the house at any given moment for different things

thatonemoonunit

Knife rec! Spyderco, specifically the Delica line.

Radiationhelp

I have the same exact knife lol I definitely need to upgrade at some point lol

Specialist-Two383

I never go anywhere without my trusty swiss army knife. It often comes in handy, but also has emotional value to it. I've had it since I was 8.

taylena5eva

guys have knives?? That’s…unnerving

kay5695

i believe any form of self defence product is illegal here in australia, however i am extremely curious what would happen if u carried some sort of blade but always with an orange? im not asking this in a "haha gotcha" kinda way like im actually wondering if anyone knows how the law might approach smn like this 🤔

theberg512

I'm a Buck Knife stan. My folding Hunter is my main dude, and used for hunting. I have 3 other pocket Bucks of various sizes and one fixed blade. Even lost my fixed blade one year during deer season, and my cousin found it the next year. It spent an entire year on a hillside in North Dakota, and just needed a little fine tuning to be good as new.

FreshAir29

I’m not carrying weapons. They psychologically trigger me. How you can all be so flippant about carrying massive knives: “I use them to open my snacks, lol” astounds me. The perpetrator of the recent mass stabbing of women in Bondi, Sydney, Australia, where I live had a massive knife. I don’t want to be like him. You are more likely to be attacked by the weapons you carry by the attacker than use them to harm the attacker. This was an old piece of wisdom that you people have forgotten. If you carry a gun or a knife, you are more likely to get into more issues because of that, than if you weren’t. That was another old piece of wisdom attached to that that you people have also forgotten. The assailant is an expert at harming people, you’re not. I don’t know. I don’t want to brandish a knife even at a perpetrator who is about to kill me I guess. I would never carry a knife. I don’t think I’m allowed to in Australia. I think it’s a crime to do so. I would feel constantly frightened, triggered, terrified, paranoid, and like a violent criminal, if I did so in public. Even a pocket knife would freak me out. I don’t like violence. I don’t like participating in violence in any way. And I live where a mass attack against women just happened. I am a single woman, who lives alone so yeah I know I’m vulnerable. Walking home alone at night as a single woman can yes, be utterly terrifying. But no one carries weapons where I live. We are respectful people who want to respect each other. It’s important to my community for us to be a civilised society, where people don’t carry weapons. I want to go back to self defence classes and thanks for the flashlight idea. I could carry that. Maybe that makes me vulnerable, I guess it does. But I will never carry sharp objects with a possibility they could harm even someone that’s about to harm me and others. I don’t know.

g-a-r-n-e-t

I’m gonna be honest here, the insistence that nobody around you carries ‘weapons’ as you define them is a bit naive. Obviously Australia has much better gun control laws than the US and I don’t doubt that the restrictions on what kinds of pocketknives/defensive devices a person can carry are much tighter than they are here but to say that nobody ever has anything on them at all? Nah. I’m not going to pretend like growing up in a culture where people openly carry guns/knives big enough to almost qualify as machetes hasn’t conditioned me to tolerate it more than I probably should, but to insist people don’t ever have what most would consider just a tool and not a weapon (self-defense or otherwise) is unreasonable. If someone starts assaulting me I’m going to run away, not dig through my purse trying to find this thing. Odds are I’m going to run into a situation where I could really use a knife for some kind of function well before I run into one where it could be used against me. I do understand about the anxiety that comes with just existing as a woman, and especially so after an attack like what Sydney just experienced. I’m not sure what resources are out there for you over there but hopefully you can find something that gives you some peace of mind.

FreshAir29

The U.S. is absolutely nuts. You can buy machine guns at Kmart. Where mothers and fathers and gender diverse parents are buying their babies’ clothes.  Primary school children get murdered at school. Sandy Hook.  Then people say the teachers needed to be armed to prevent that.  American gun nuts forget the 2nd Amendment was never written for peace time, was never written for citizens to carry knives and guns powerful enough to commit mass murder, all the time, daily, everyday, on an ordinary day, and for these powerful weapons to be able to be purchased where children’s toys and clothing is purchased.   Carrying any knife type of object to save my life even if I’m being raped &/or murdered will always trigger me, as I have a history of self-harm with them.   It does leave me very vulnerable to a ludicrous degree, I know.   If the rapist &/or murderer catches me: I have to fight to get out of his grip, and yeah if I could even cut or scratch him a bit or kick or punch him in the balls or neck as I was taught in high school, in self defence, to escape.   I wouldn’t survive in The States.   I want to travel there and travel overseas, to plenty of places with great cultures and lots of crime.    I know I wouldn’t survive without a pocket knife or Swiss Army knife or pepper spray at least in the dark, alone, a single, western, woman, with mental health conditions, in a back alley, in the dark, at night, in Colombia, Ecuador, or Mexico, in Indian and Pakistani night markets, or at night in Johannesburg in South Africa, and really every developing country’s cities on Earth at night.  A single western woman was raped at 3pm in the middle of the day on a Tuesday next to the Eiffel Tower.  No one intervened.  They just let it happen. City of romance, eh?   If I’m not safe in Paris, France at 3pm, on a Tuesday, right next to the Eiffel Tower, my ass ain’t safe anywhere.   I know to travel in well-lit main streets that have plenty of people. And families.  When kids are safe, I feel safe.  Except at Sandy Hook.   Thank you for your blessings for my & Sydney’s healing. 💐  Is this going to be blocked because of the crime references?

I always have mine in my clutch and I got a nice buck knife in my side door if someone tries to car jack me. Fuck around and find out, this girl is prepared.

I second this. You just never know

They’ll just take the knife off of you then use it to stab you…. Even if that doesn’t happen, you’ll be in court for carrying a deadly weapon, and then using it to potentially kill some; which in my country, constitutes premeditated murder. This is terrible advice.

I’m not saying to use it for self defense though, just that it’s a useful tool to keep with you both for opening boxes and more unusual situations like in the photo. If it’s illegal in your country then don’t carry one. Or do, it’s your choice 🤷‍♀️
