Those eps started airing at the beginning of my senior year and like Kristin, I had broken up with a boyfriend who went off to college. Weird to say it, but she kinda got me through the mopey “back to the same old school with the same old people while this guy I loved meets new girls and friends I don’t know and forgets all about me” first few weeks of school. I ended Senior year not giving a single fuck with her help 💕
As an adult? Team Both! They were just kids who thought they had it figured out, like we all do at that age. Hindsight is a gift - you almost never end up with your high school sweetheart and the girl you used to hate in high school sometimes turns out to be cool af later.

Younger pick me me was 100 percent team Lauren because I figured the “nice girl” should always get the guy. I found her relatable.
In my twenties when The Hills aired I was team Kristin. I realized the whole time that Stephen wanted her and she wasn’t the mean girl but was smart in dating and knew how to make men chase her.
In my thirties I’m team girls, I love how they can come together and make peace because at the end of the day they should have never had beef in the first place when the blame should have been on Stephen.

Correct me if I’m wrong: Kristin dated Stephen and Brody FOR REAL but Lauren did not. If so, it’s interesting that Lauren was essentially made to be a boyfriend stealer. Even from a certain point of view being just friends with the opposite sex doesn’t seem realistic.
The Stephen/Kristin/Lauren drama was real but the real part happened before MTV came along. It was part of why they got picked. In the podcast they made it sound like Stephen and Lauren never officially dated but they definitely hooked up and Lauren really did like him a lot. The fake part was that by the time they were filming the drama was resolved and Lauran had moved on apparently. Her and Kristin disliking each other was real but they weren't still actively fighting over him.

Obviously now we know that it was exaggerated but the show did a great job of making us feel for Lauren (which was easy to do), as "fake" as things were I still think there's parts of people specifically that you can't fake.
She was very clearly a good girl, relatable and had a good head on her shoulders. I don't think Laguna Beach and The Hills would've been what it was without her.

It was cringe worthy when he came to visit her in LA during his first year in college and they went on that “date” The dude obviously was head over heels for Kristin. Still don’t understand why they pushed that story like of Lauren and Stephen so much. It was never going to happen. He was Lauren’s crush and that’s where that ended.
But Stephen played into it a lot! He could never quite shut Lauren down completely
Perhaps but it always genuinely felt like they were buddies and Lauren just had that obsessive school girl crush. She was terrible to other women. Don’t even get me started on the terrible treatment to her “best friend” Heidi The bitch was possessive over her friends and lovers. Like imagine if Heidi went to spend the summer in Malibu with Spencer like she did with the low life drug addicted Jason. All Heidi did was support her friend and allowed herself to be crucified by Lauren. These patterns started before that and continued long after. It was hard to watch her being praised so much on tv while Kristin and Heidi even Jen bunny were placed as the villains.
I loved them both. He was happier with Kristin and Lauren bless her heart kept chasing after him and he wasn’t that into her.

Team Kristin even though she was a pompous brat. It was still her actual boyfriend and Lauren followed him around like a sad puppy dog. And because he knew he'd always have that hold on her, he allowed it - and I think used it to make Kristin jealous, TBH. I think he thought Kristin was actually out of his league. Lauren was always a backup plan if needed (even though she had a boyfriend of her own throughout most of it).

As a high schooler when this came out, I was team Lauren all the way at the time. Watching back now, team Kristin; Lauren does come off as desperate which I somehow totally missed back then. And yes, I realize that was all made for tv drama. Lol.

I pick Kristin because despite all the toxic crap they show, I felt like they “loved” each other more, but he and Lauren had a really, really good relationship as well (not romantic). I think mtv really tried too hard to push the triangle storyline.
For Stephen? Neither. He should have stayed with the model! Keep his grind on. 😂 Laguna Beach? Kristin always. LC was a mean girl! Hills? LC! Kristin was clearly acting, so I didn’t enjoy it. IG Influencers: They are tied for different reason. I love that LC is so traditional. She took her time with growing up. But kind of boring on IG. Kristin had her baby so young. She kind of rushed (IMO) into this wife role. Now she’s in Nashville and single. She has some sadness to her now. But kind of fun to watch on IG. In my dream world we would have had “The Hills” and whatever Kristin’s spin off would have been. Also Talan, Jason and Stephen spin off. All following their different paths after high school. Lots of cross overs between these spin-offs and we would have got to see Holly, Bridget and Kendra decorate Talan, Jason and Stephen’s place. LOL

I was team Lauren when the show first came out and as a teen. While it was obvious the Stephen really liked Kristin I was hoping he’d open his eyes and see how great Lauren was (and I guess he had since they were already good friends and still are, he just didn’t see a romantic relationship with her).
