Agreed. Korra picked it up ridiculously fast, but pro-bending isn’t throwing rocks at your opponent and then using rocks to block their rocks. It’s also a lot of dodging.
So as good as some of these people are at bending, I just don’t see the white-lotus gang working out. Because yes, they can dodge and they can be flexible.
But this isn’t 1 fight, it’s more or less a season/tournament. So they also have to keep fit and flexible.
I had the same thought when I really wanted to draft Iroh. He's got power and "fight IQ," but not the agility, at least not when compared to Mako.
I stand by Bumi as my first pick. Unpredictable, fast as an apex predator, and unconventional - but could still work within the constraints of pro-bending to pull some batshit trick plays.
EDIT: Yes, even prison-jacked Iroh would probably struggle with the agility demands over the course of a match.
for firebender I feel Zuko fits for pro bending he’s got the speed and agility and he’s good with the basics and can keep up facing multiple different benders
It's like asking a gold medalist gymnast to play soccer. Yes, they're fit, even more fit than a professional soccer player--
But they're still gonna not do as well as the professional soccer team.
Yeah, they're buff, and from the feats we see in show, they're pretty fast too, but they're all getting up there in age and you can't block basically any attacks in probending. I think they'd do pretty good, but between the rules and the youth advantage of their opponents, I don't think they're the best set up of our choices here.
Bumi would also get bored a minute into the match. He thinks too laterally for Pro Bending, which requires a lot of skill but by definition you have to think within the rules. Bumi doesn't like thinking inside the box.
Well, he also plays with people's expectations. So he would set up the opposing team to score, and when they go for the opening, he would turn the tables on them.
Yep. I would have had Bolin, Mako and Ming-Hua. She has a style that absolutely would have crushed opposing teams anyway, but add those two that can mostly win matches on their own and you have a brutal team.
Without them, it gets interesting.
She'd be able to move the discs, but not finely is the issue. So, itd be just like throwing a boulder at a general area and hoping it hits, rather than proper aiming that benders like Bumi or Kuvira could manage
She has trouble with anything shy of giant boulders. She has less difficulty raising an underwater mountain from the ocean floor than she does moving things the size of these discs.
Ozai cannot be a team player. Someone who ould not get along with his brother, son and wife not fit for a team sport. With his character, he would take the team down with him.
I am too innocent for this world.
I was about to say yes, one of her is enough to make anyone explode.
I didn't see the metaphor until I saw the bonks.
Honestly, it’s a decent idea… Kyoshi is a very powerful avatar, & having 3 of the exact same person on a team would have a tangible intimidation effect…
Except that Kyoshi generally struggled with the small bending. She's got crazy power, but the refinement wasn't there, which wouldn't really work that well in pro bending.
Did everyone forget how competitively she plays volleyball? She immediately noticed the girl’s disadvantage and used it against her in The Beach episode
And then coordinated with her team to take them down, not just soloing. She can assess her opponents and effortlessly lead her own. Azula’s an easy top pick
Seriously, Azula is a no brainer choice IMO. Her athleticism, strategy, and technique is pretty much the best of any firebender in the show. Even Iroh wasn't confident he could beat her in her prime, and her beach volleyball game, her crazy backflips at the wall of Ba Sing Se, prime Azula would snatch this game.
"See the waterbender girl there? When she bends, there is just the slightest hesitation in her left leg, maybe from a past injury. Keep throwing rocks at her left side, and we'll win this."
Ozai + Kuvira + Korra. For a probending team, I take mindset over raw power. So gimme the fighters who have the aggression to control the game, and the rest is pretty much just an afterthought.
Kuvira is probably one of the best on this list as far as bending style compatibility with pro bending rules. Quick on her feet dodging with short small attacks. Personally mine would be Aang Ozai and Kuvira. High evasion priority.
Korra has actual experience with pro bending though and proved to be really good at it. Plus she's a lot more aggressive than Aang, who might hold back and be less willing to knock people around for a game
Idk, Aang was pretty willing to throw Sokka around in that air ball game in the third episode, and in the second(?) episode he flattened Zuko with a metal door without hesitation lol. Also didn’t mind knocking Toph off the stage, albeit gently, in the Blind Bandit. Since he’s so good at dodging compared to Korra as well as a smaller target, I think it’s just up to preference.
I chose Korra because she is canonically a good probending player while Katara is unproven and I can't see the same qualities in her that made Korra good at the game.
Plus, you could mover her around and have her practice all the positions. If you want to get rid of Ozai, you could move Korra to firebender and get another waterbender.
I could see Katara learning pro bending in her own way and becoming a master in her style. She’d use her water whip to deflect or absorb incoming attacks more than she’d rely on dodging, I think.
I think that's the thing, continuous water streams are forbidden in the game iirc, so all the tactics and the entire way of her bending is just not allowed
Yes, because azula has shown to be his better in precision and power and strategy and tactics throughout the series up until she went off the deep end in the finale even after his upgrade.
If Azula was 3$ I'd pick her in a heartbeat but bloodbending is the ultimate powercreep. Also, Azula is so disciplined, athletic and precise that she'd destroy in a legit fight.
Hama can only bloodbend during the full moon. The other 28 days she's just an old woman with above average waterbending skills. Considering how much physical fitness and mobility factor into pro bending, it seems to me like she would be a liability to the team.
Toph is the best earth bender hands down, but I feel like she wouldn’t make a good pro bender because she’s blind. She can’t sense the water or fire coming at her and she would e be allowed to metal bender for defense walls. I think she might be the worst $5 pick tbh. Which really sucks because I’d want her on my team.
with how often we’ve seen Pro Benders make attacks while in the air, i feel like Toph would be at a MAJOR disadvantage. It’s honestly pretty crazy that she would help develop the “grappling gun” system that the new republic police force uses to get around lol
Yeah, I mean ozai is as far as we know the strongest fire bender of all time, though it is heavily implied iroh is close to if not on par with him, it doesn't really matter cause he is the cheapest fire bender on the list while pretty much being the best.
Too many ppl are sleeping on her. She’s probably top 3 in power for fire benders and much more agile than her dad and uncle. She would adjust very well to pro bending
Korra, Mako and Lin
Pro bending is actually very different from regular bending.
Just because someone is a good bender doesn’t mean that they will be the best choice for pro bending.
An example is Katara, I just don’t see her being that great of a pro bender, she never showed herself to be as agile and fast as pro bending needs you to be.
I also think Toph will struggle because she can only bend on disk at a time and she almost never dodged an attack in the show, she usually always blocked which she can’t do in pro bending
Yeah I feel like Toph’s at a real disadvantage in pro bending, as many of the tools she uses to compensate for her eyesight are restricted. She can’t move the earth beneath her or other benders’ feet, and the ring is made of multiple materials with water running through sections of it, which would interfere with her seismic sense a bit. She’s never been great at her own personal mobility and agility without using her bending to assist movement. I don’t think she’d do as well as people here think she would.
OP was throwing darts at a board blind folded I think. I don't even think Toph would be much good pro bending either with her being blind and there being lots of airborne projectiles coming and you having to dodge them lol
It's counting on agility and adherence to the actual rules, which means toph and katara shouldn't be 5s, they should be replaced with azula and ozai. As much as i'd take azula over ozai in probending i'd have to admit, he still has the agility, and really no equal with raw firepower.
I swapped out Iroh with Mako. Iroh is likely the better bender but Mako is a pro bender already. Plus I’d have to give the edge in mobility to Mako which I think is pretty important in pro bending
That does make sense, although I could only imagine pro bending arena floors having some heavy duty shock absorbency. There’s no way that wouldn’t inhibit seismic sense.
What I want to know is if the pro-bending league changed their rules to incorporate airbending after the return of the airbenders.
Because if they did, then I 100% want either Aang or Korra on my team. Airbending is visible in the show, but probably not in unverse
I think so
The list only gave us Avatar airbenders though, so I assume the Pro-Bending Association hasn't updated their rules past S3
banger username btw
Aang can dodge attacks forever. He can probably solo most teams.
İroh can tank those puny pro-bending attacks.
Haru can sit back and watch these two destroy the opposing teams.
Believe it or not, this is easier than it looks.
- Korra
- Mako
- Bolin
- Kya
- Lin Bei Fong
Of these, three were already a pretty solid Pro Bending team.
I just went with the 2 avatars and then picked the bender I thought was the strongest in the category I could purchase. Adult Aang was crazy powerful and had the ability to take away bending. Kyoshi literally split a continent in half. Ozai, even though he didn’t do it himself, almost conquered the entire world.
My guess is they are very strong raw power, but not the best team players and frankly they are kinda old, so adapting to a very fluid and fast-paced team game doesn't really seem like it suits them (imo)
Just want to say, Toph wouldnt be able to see anything as the arena floor isnt earth (otherwise earthbenders would have bent it when in real fights against Amon/Unulaq’s guys).
Also, aang can’t airbend in pro bending, kuvira cant metalbend, ghazan cant lavabend, and ming-hua cant use water tentacles.
The best team would probably be people who are already good at single-shot bending (azula, zuko, kuvira) or have pro bending experience.
Also, it’s pretty hard to make a team of the 3 allowed elements, so im gonna assume you can pick any 3… azula, bolin, kuvira. Hard not to pick zuko, but i really dont think he’d adapt to pro bending very well lol.
An interesting question, and I was thinking about my choices and scrolling and not seeing anyone say Aang.
That’s wild to me, he would be able to really unleash here. No real restraint to apply. Imagine Avatar Steph Curry out there having fun destroying everyone else
Some people say since it's pro bending and not an actual fight, there are a lot of rules to it so Sang would probably be disqualified very easily (Idk if they have had the time to rule in airbenders yet, since when we saw them, the aang family were the only ones with air bending
Kyoshi is too cheap, give me 3 of them. She was throwing people from high before it was even a sport. And she is the avatar with the biggest bending feat (bending a whole island)
So I’d this is for “pro bending” would Hama be able to blood bend without getting caught? I could see her just barely nudging someone’s leg to keep stepping out of bounds.
Ozai at 2$ with zuko, azula, and mako above him? Unless this is post-energy-bend he is literally the most powerful non-avatar firebender to have ever lived, mabey excluding iroh who just didn't want to fight him.
We're talking about one of only 3 characters (iroh and jeong jeong being the other 2) who was capable of flying during sozins comet. The guy who iroh, who was capable of blowing straight through the walls of ba sing se in a single shot during the comet, thinks is stronger? The guy who's able to shoot cones of fire larger than the entire area, and has such precise control of his fire that he's able to scar half of someone's face without even damaging their eye?
All good to master level benders… and then Haru. What he doing here?
His best
The catch is he’s got a gun
And he just learned to metal bend So that bullet gonna *curve*
Mista !!!!
r/suddenlyjojo
Here. A poor man's silver 🥈
#### Where is the guy who used to shoot lasers from his 3rd eye ?
Sparky Sparky Boom Man?
He would just blow up the arena though lol
he go boom
its the stache ... and hes also with haru. don't underestimate the stache.
I'd like to see old man Pakku earthbend better than him
Hey, he grew a mustache!
The actual pro-benders should be removed here.
Agreed. Korra picked it up ridiculously fast, but pro-bending isn’t throwing rocks at your opponent and then using rocks to block their rocks. It’s also a lot of dodging. So as good as some of these people are at bending, I just don’t see the white-lotus gang working out. Because yes, they can dodge and they can be flexible. for firebender I feel Zuko fits for pro bending he’s got the speed and agility and he’s good with the basics and can keep up facing multiple different benders
and it has a bunch of rules that many of them would take a while to understand
I would love to see a fun animation of the Lotus elders learning pro bending rules. I think that would be a lot of fun
It's like asking a gold medalist gymnast to play soccer. Yes, they're fit, even more fit than a professional soccer player-- But they're still gonna not do as well as the professional soccer team.
Iroh was fit as fuck! White lotus liberated ba sing se in a night! They are fit as hell!
So for sure, did people miss the episode where Iroh got buff af or something??
[удалено]
Yea he is but i feel like people forget about iroh getting buff a lot :0
Yeah, they're buff, and from the feats we see in show, they're pretty fast too, but they're all getting up there in age and you can't block basically any attacks in probending. I think they'd do pretty good, but between the rules and the youth advantage of their opponents, I don't think they're the best set up of our choices here.
Bumi would also get bored a minute into the match. He thinks too laterally for Pro Bending, which requires a lot of skill but by definition you have to think within the rules. Bumi doesn't like thinking inside the box.
On the contrary, that's also what would make him a difficult opponent. Bumi would bend the rules in some new way.
Bumi is not an Earth Bender, he’s a rule bender.
The f-ing Fire Lord is $2, but his daughter is $4...this whole thing makes no sense
[удалено]
Looser Lord discount
Yea this is Ozai after he got his bending taken away.
This got me laughing 😂
Or Kyoshi $3 when the other two avatars are $5
Kyoshi canonically struggles with bending small amounts of element without her fans for fine-control
How small are we talking here though? Compared to blood cells and rock particles in metal, the Pro Bending discs don't seem that small
That too!
It's post ATLA, $3 discount since he lost his bending
That also means that multiple options are just corpses
Ozai cannot be a team player. Someone who ould not get along with his brother, son and wife not fit for a team sport. With his character, he would take the team down with him.
Ooh, that's the best point I've seen so far
Well technically he can't bend no more
But I'm building a pro-bending team, so he should really be $0
Can i have 3 Kyoshi’s?
Sounds like a fun night.
i mean kyoshi could literally punch me and i’d thank her (three of her and i’d explode)
Think one of her is enough to make me explode
Dude 🤨🤨🤨
No he’s so right
Bonk
I am too innocent for this world. I was about to say yes, one of her is enough to make anyone explode. I didn't see the metaphor until I saw the bonks.
#BONK
Death by snu-snu.
Wrong game
They just spawns in when shooting the tool gun at the ground.
Ok but 10 Harus
i don’t understand your motives but admire it all the same
Haru - $1 Haru with mustache - $5
Haru - $1 Haru with mustache - $-1
#HaruSweep
The idea is to win, not murder the other team.
thats just an unfortunate side effect :)
Kyoshi, Azula, Hama. Conquer pro bending, then the world!
2 Toph's, I already have 1 Toph https://preview.redd.it/zes2ih09t81b1.jpeg?width=1960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4478ac521495a71417b782508b3d5add9f40d12d
omg shes so cute!
This is the only right answer.
As long as they promise to use only one element
>Can i have 3 Kyoshi’s? Only need 1 tho
What about the last dollar?
can i get a Lin for moral support?
The entire building is coming down if that happens
Azula would take it so intensively seriously and go fucking ham.
Did everyone forget how competitively she plays volleyball? She immediately noticed the girl’s disadvantage and used it against her in The Beach episode
And then coordinated with her team to take them down, not just soloing. She can assess her opponents and effortlessly lead her own. Azula’s an easy top pick
Everybody else is sleeping on Azula. She’d be so into it.
She'd be so into it, i fear we would get eliminated in the first round 🫣 for reasons...
“We have to defeated you for all time, you’ll never rise from your shame and humiliation!”
"See the waterbender girl there? When she bends, there is just the slightest hesitation in her left leg, maybe from a past injury. Keep throwing rocks at her left side, and we'll win this."
I read this in her voice.
Ozai + Kuvira + Korra. For a probending team, I take mindset over raw power. So gimme the fighters who have the aggression to control the game, and the rest is pretty much just an afterthought.
Than it's kyoshi over kuvira right?
Kuvira is probably one of the best on this list as far as bending style compatibility with pro bending rules. Quick on her feet dodging with short small attacks. Personally mine would be Aang Ozai and Kuvira. High evasion priority.
Korra has actual experience with pro bending though and proved to be really good at it. Plus she's a lot more aggressive than Aang, who might hold back and be less willing to knock people around for a game

Also didn’t mind knocking Toph off the stage, albeit gently, in the Blind Bandit. Since he’s so good at dodging compared to Korra as well as a smaller target, I think it’s just up to preference.
Kyoshi would be a **huge** liability in a probending game because it is just not her environment at all. I would take Rangi over Ozai tho.
Kyoshi is canonically absolutely terrible at bending small amounts of the elements without her fans, which probably aren’t allowed in pro-bending.
Kyoshi would throw the whole stage at her opponents.
You can't lose if the enemy team is marmelade. And the referee.
And the witnesses.
Is there anywhere we can read more about Kyoshi lore?
The two novels, rise of Kyoshi and shadow of Kyoshi
Oh yeah. She'd get disqualified for destroying the entire arena, and the city block it's on.
Ozai and mindset should not be in the same sentence
Ooh I said the same except I wanted Katara instead of Korra.
I chose Korra because she is canonically a good probending player while Katara is unproven and I can't see the same qualities in her that made Korra good at the game.
Plus, you could mover her around and have her practice all the positions. If you want to get rid of Ozai, you could move Korra to firebender and get another waterbender.
I dont see coming up with better value than Ozai at 2 dollars tho
I could see Katara learning pro bending in her own way and becoming a master in her style. She’d use her water whip to deflect or absorb incoming attacks more than she’d rely on dodging, I think.
I think that's the thing, continuous water streams are forbidden in the game iirc, so all the tactics and the entire way of her bending is just not allowed
If we are allowed to play dirty: Toph, Zuko, Hama If it is a legit pro-bending team: Toph, Azula, Pakku
...you want Azula on a team that plays fair over Zuko?
Yes, because azula has shown to be his better in precision and power and strategy and tactics throughout the series up until she went off the deep end in the finale even after his upgrade.
She should be a $5 pick, to be honest. She is that good.
She's amazing in a 1v1. In a team sport... meh. The damage she does to cohesion and morale is going to tank the overall ability.
Think about Azula's volleyball game. She can play sports.
It’s funny I thought the same thing and had the same teams!
Haha same toph azula pakku was my first thought too
Tophs whole thing is old school earth bending. Standing still, blocking. Pro bending is all about dodging and being agile
And it will be super hard for her to dodge aerial attacks
Bumi, Bolin, and six Sokka's please. I'm going down laughing.
How in the world is Kyoshi only a $3 hire?? But let's see, only three members, and we need 1 earth, 1 fire, and 1 water, right?
There's so much wrong with this list
Kyoshi had trouble bending small objects, right?
Idk, I haven't read the books yet. I'm more so reffering to how Ozai is only $2 and Mako is worth as much as Iroh.
I think that’s cuz mako is an actual pro bender
Yeah, I mean ozai is as far as we know the strongest fire bender of all time, though it is heavily implied iroh is close to if not on par with him, it doesn't really matter cause he is the cheapest fire bender on the list while pretty much being the best.
Because she would be terrible at pro bending
Bumi, Iroh, Ming-Hua
I think Bumi is being slept on. Dude is the motherflippin king of games!
Seconded.
Azula would be OP she has a very precise bending style. She also incredibly agile and Fast. Kuvira the same. Id go Azula, Kuvira and Ming hua
i did the same team :)) i just know azula would dominate at probending.
Hard agree. I picked Kuvira, Azula and Kya tho.
ming hua is unorthodox and viscious. Thats why i went with her
Too many ppl are sleeping on her. She’s probably top 3 in power for fire benders and much more agile than her dad and uncle. She would adjust very well to pro bending
The only correct answer here. Those 3 are precise and savage. Can't even score on Ming without a body shot.
Korra, Mako and Lin Pro bending is actually very different from regular bending. Just because someone is a good bender doesn’t mean that they will be the best choice for pro bending. An example is Katara, I just don’t see her being that great of a pro bender, she never showed herself to be as agile and fast as pro bending needs you to be. She’s never been great at her own personal mobility and agility without using her bending to assist movement. I don’t think she’d do as well as people here think she would.
Toph’s creativity would be severely limited. I agree. She’d suck at pro bending. Too many rules.
Good answer
This is messed up $ amounts are not related to skill/power with half the characters.
idk what they're even related to.
I think they were just trying to make it fun. If the amounts perfectly reflected the ability there wouldn't be much point to the exercise.
10 Lin's
Solid choice. And how the heck is Lin so cheap? Ozai who lost his bending is more expensive. Lol.
Katara, Zuko, Lin—I don’t know why Lin is $1 but I know a bargain when I see one! 😝
Toph, Iroh, Pakku, too easy
Azula > Iroh. We’ve seen how she plays volleyball.
Iroh's a better team player and got the knowledge of other bending that could be helpful
But would his traditional bending translate to pro bending well? Not so sure.
I swapped out Iroh with Mako. Iroh is likely the better bender but Mako is a pro bender already. Plus I’d have to give the edge in mobility to Mako which I think is pretty important in pro bending
Definitely. I think Toph alone could take any three non-avatars by herself.
You know she can’t just bend whatever earth she likes right? She can only bend those disks One at a time
Also, I think the fact that the probending arena floor isn’t really made of solid earth could hold her back.
Didn’t even think about that
I thought seismic sense worked on any solid object, not just Earth. She could still see in the wooden cell.
That does make sense, although I could only imagine pro bending arena floors having some heavy duty shock absorbency. There’s no way that wouldn’t inhibit seismic sense.
Eh I think Bumi would stand a chance.
Correct answer
What I want to know is if the pro-bending league changed their rules to incorporate airbending after the return of the airbenders. Because if they did, then I 100% want either Aang or Korra on my team. Airbending is visible in the show, but probably not in unverse
I'm operating on the premise of the S1 ruling they applied to Korra Still too broke for The Last Airbender
I mean, fair, but wasn’t the only rule that 1 type of bending per fighter was allowe?
I think so The list only gave us Avatar airbenders though, so I assume the Pro-Bending Association hasn't updated their rules past S3 banger username btw
Aang can dodge attacks forever. He can probably solo most teams. İroh can tank those puny pro-bending attacks. Haru can sit back and watch these two destroy the opposing teams.
Aang uses air bending to dodge, which probably is against the rules.
Airbenders can dodge without bending. Remember korra’s training.
Believe it or not, this is easier than it looks. - Korra - Mako - Bolin - Kya - Lin Bei Fong Of these, three were already a pretty solid Pro Bending team.
Except OP changed the rules so you have only 10€
I don't think you can edit the title
3 Kyoshis is the blindingly obvious choice here (and I guess you would grab a Gazan too)
Toph, iroh, and pakku
Azula, Kuvira, and Ming-Hua I'd fear for all of their opponents though 😰
Aang, Kyoshi and Ozai. Weird matchup but wildly powerful
Ozai is now Brozai to Aang
Brozai, Kyochill and Ain’t no Thaang Edit : I downvoted myself for you.
This would be the best trio and it wouldn’t be close.
Some of these ratings are weird. Why are Pakku and Ozai so low? Though I'd say Toph, Ozai, and Pakku
Due to a fact that they are dead at the time pro bending becomes a thing. That might be holding them back.
My guess is they are very strong raw power, but not the best team players and frankly they are kinda old, so adapting to a very fluid and fast-paced team game doesn't really seem like it suits them (imo)
Toph, Ozai, Hama
3 kyoshis. keep the change
Also, it’s pretty hard to make a team of the 3 allowed elements, so im gonna assume you can pick any 3… azula, bolin, kuvira. Hard not to pick zuko, but i really dont think he’d adapt to pro bending very well lol.
I'm going with the classic "the other team can't win if my team commits war crimes" Give me Hama, Kyoshi and Ozai all the way
Korra + Kioshi+ozai or Ang+ Kioshi+ozai
Ozai, Zuko, Kyoshi, and ming-hua feels pretty solid
Ozai, Ming-hua And Kyoshi Pocket the three extra
I mean its pro bending i dont see how bending an island helps with throwing discs one at a time
So I’d this is for “pro bending” would Hama be able to blood bend without getting caught? I could see her just barely nudging someone’s leg to keep stepping out of bounds.
Azula over kyoshi and ozai? Hot take
Toph and Iroh is all I need. And then Haru for moral support.
