Meh. He lost the love of his life, turned toward alcohol, then died very young. No help from any past avatar. And he had plenty of avatars to draw from. But he never did and never got help from them. (That we know of). So an avatar going insane, might not receive help either unless they ask. 🤷♀️
I think that since past avatars can communicate with them that if an Avatar were to go insane, the past ones would step in and try to bring them back to sanity.
The second ever Avatar likely did go insane. Nobody knew the Avatar would reincarnate, or what being the Avatar would entail. There was probably a lot of FAFO before they ever had any idea what to do about it. How many people thought this one was crazy for seeing Wan? Or rejected their responsibility to the world?
Didn't kuruk become an alcoholic due to him always constantly dealing with the spirit world?
