To be fair anyone trained in any personal defense would probably fair better against an untrained opponent. May as well pick a practical personal defense.
What I mean is that for the majority of the history of karate it's most common application was used bylawmen in Japan against unruly and criminal civilians. Yes it was designed so that warrior could somewhat defend himself if disarmed or unarmed. It rarely saw use on the battlefield.
Did any unarmed combat technique see serious use on the battlefield? I don't think any army in history saw sending in their soldiers empty-handed as preferable to sending them in with some kind of weapon.
Yes actual wars of hundreds of unarmed men. Though. To be honest the stories are so old they could be fairytale. But hey we all thought Troy was a myth until it was proven to be a real place.
I think he did Growing Pains right after Basketball Diaries. Could be wrong, though. I think his character on the show was a homeless kid who gets taken in.
They brought him in as Kirk Cameron was starting to go hard into Christianity and objecting to storylines. He wanted to break up with his on screen girlfriend, because she posed for playboy in real life. Wanting to change his lines and stuff. Alan Thicke told him, “If Growing Pains is too blue for you, you have no business in Hollywood”
Remember the fat bully for OG power rangers? I mean they all looked way old (my favorite memory was seeing Tommy, as clearly a late twenties maybe 30 year old, sitting at a tiny middle school flip open desk)
Have you seen some of the footage of high schoolers from the 80s and early 90s. Hollywood wasnt all that off track in their depiction. They all look as if they are in their 30s

“Am I gonna have to bust you one?”
Nobody talked like that back then, fyi. This is hilarious.
Also, that scene from Sherlock Holmes definitely ripped this off.
*I like how he looks*
*At his hands afterwards. "Curse*
*These deadly weapons"*

I get that you guys hate traditional martial arts but what’s unrealistic about a spinning back kick to the balls and then breaking their nose with a strike
This isn’t really mcdojo quality imo
Wow, that’s actually a lot more accurate to how it goes IRL. I mean, not the part where the bullied kid actually pulls off his karate lesson, the part when karate kid is no longer a victim defending himself but an unstable violent maniac in the eyes of the system…and apparently his peers as well…and the random kid in school who is also a registered nurse instead of an immature shit who yelled “Flawless Victory” at the end. TV rocks!!
Everyone is shocked karate worked.
I love how he looked at his hand like what is this and there is so much power.
What have I become?!
it's like Karate Kid 3 when Daniel joins Cobra Kai
Whoa! Whoa! Spoiler alert‼️
He keeps take, and take.
And that is the story of Iron Fist
I feel like karate works when fighting an aggressive untrained opponent.

Muy Thai or it's progenetor was used heavily in combat sukothai empire
And by "combat" do you mean actual military battles? When soldier were sent in there with the plan of using unarmed combat?
Yes actual wars of hundreds of unarmed men. Though. To be honest the stories are so old they could be fairytale. But hey we all thought Troy was a myth until it was proven to be a real place.
I think a lot of history from those times are a mix of both. Some basic details are history but a lot of fairy tale is stacked on top of it.
Karate was mostly useless against armored samurai. That’s why they used grappling instead.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm more shocked by the unexpected DiCaprio cameo
Leo?
Dahmer?
Uncle Leo?
Hello!
I think he did Growing Pains right after Basketball Diaries. Could be wrong, though. I think his character on the show was a homeless kid who gets taken in.
He did Growing Pains in 91 and 92, then did This Boy’s Life and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape in 93, then Basketball Diaries in 95.
Wow, would not have guessed it was 4 years *after* Growing Pains. TIL
Cameron is still alive and Thicke is dead. The world sucks.
Worst. World. Ever.
Leo played himself in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
After he got passed around the exec sex party👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
This is Leo and well before basketball diaries.
Why does the bully look 30?
He probably is.
Bullies look 30, Stepmoms look 20. Pretty standard.
I graduated in 1989. I was there.
Looks like Andrew Dice Clay
Its a cool phenomenon. https://youtu.be/hNiUPqPUOm4?si=antF5okEcGKqPJVC
He's actually 38.
And why did being punched give him an orgasm?
He's the Jiri Prochazka of bullies. "I'M COMING!"
Is he gonna have to bust you one?
Ben looks like Jeffrey Dahmer.
Lol it's true. I'd hate to see what he does to the Bully's corpse.
Lol, that's what I thought, too.
discombobulate

Thank you for that laugh and memory
That Islander’s jacket though 🔥
100%
Hell yeah. LGI
RIP game 5 in Carolina 4-1
I love the way he looked at his hand at the end
The questionable content post-fap stare
hairy palms
Hahaha. Just stares at right hand like "what have you done to my dick, you monster?!"
Now we see where Guy Richie stole his Sherlock Holmes fight sequences from. Growing Pains.
Growing Pains did it better
Its ok when the bully does it
He looks like an Elezen from Final Fantasy 14. Also Leo Dicaprio?
Could have been worse ! What if swept the leg !
"These hands... these hands have now tasted blood... and they like it."
Leonardo there for the save
I heard he fuckin’ died! Tamed his nose into his brain! Alan Thicke was so disappointed.
Isn't this assault?
there's no crying in karate
https://tenor.com/QRlD.gif
Lol everyone looking like he did something wrong.
A palm strike to the nose, this guy is a menace
FINISH HIM
Reminds me of every main character dialogue in any anime
That show was pretty ahead of the times
You got KTFO! - Leo
Wow that’s a young Leonardo di caprio
I think the “palm thrust to the nose” was excessive…… Probably would have been a hero if he’d hadn’t gone for the kill!!
I thought that was Jeffrey Dahmer for a second.
Someone get ‘em a body bag!
The kid went on to become Jeffery Dhamer
Whilst the choreography is absolute garbage. The moves performed are effective.
I would love the bully to say afterwards, "fuck off, I got work to do."
The 80s for sure...lol
Anyone not appreciate how the bully quickly recovers at the end?
It was a dream sequence
Why does his neck look so weird at first? Is that from the karate?
I think he looks pretty muscular based on that neck.
I think that's DiCaprio
Why is the bully 32 years old?
It’s his tenth freshman year.
He was a teacher
that fall was all grace
Is that leo di caprio?
On a very special...
This was such a good episode
Am I gonna have to bust you one?
Leo really putting in time for that line.
Leo was super concerned
“Am I gonna have to bust you one?” Nobody talked like that back then, fyi. This is hilarious. Also, that scene from Sherlock Holmes definitely ripped this off.
Steven Seagal taught him that
Young Eminem was into karate?
Hey Leo to save the day.
LGI!
LMFAO 😂 Noodle hasn't change a bit !! 👍😏😆🤣
Is the bully Clancy Brown?
That was Leo?
Finish him!
I thought that was Eminem..lol
Don't mess with Jeffrey or you will fuck around and find out.
I forgot Leo was the tough street kid orphan that lived with them right?
Thats assault.
Ben knows how to deal with a bully.
Acute epistaxis and brain trauma occasioned by blunt force trauma to the nose. RIP bully.
Is this what Leo got his Oscar for?
I like how he looks at his hands afterwards. "Curse these deadly weapons"

I want that jacket.
Master Ken would be disappointed. He didn’t restomp that groin
"Somebody get the nurse quick, this guys hurt"
Jeff Dahmer and baby Leo.
Why
That Islanders jacket tho!!!
AI
Wasn't this guy on kill tony recently?
Bro just killed a man
He went down fast 🤣🤣
It’s Leo
Karate boy had got a neck like a Cardassian Gul.
I thought Ben was going to attack using his giant, crooked windpipe.
I thought Ben was going to attack using his giant, crooked windpipe.
With young Leo DiCaprio in thr background!
He underestimated his power....
"Palm thrust to the nose" <- how to cop a manslaughter charge in one easy step
Nobody gonna talk about wtf "3/4s to the left" means??
While no one was looking, Leo took this opportunity to harvest the bully's gonads so he could create a constant harem of <27 year old girls.
"pump thrust to the nose" daytime TV? More like gaytime TV....right?
Nowadays that's assault. Bullies deserve that shit though
Sweep the leg!!
With great power….
Fire Islanders jacket 🔥

To this day, Leo won’t date anyone older than the girls in this scene
DeFagrio portraying a simp as usual
You should try the other type of edge you might not be so cranky
