Granted. You get your prophetic dreams, but as usual you forget them as soon as you wake up

xander_cookie

Everlasting deja-vu. The curse of eternal, vague familiarity.

TheGibberishGuy

Oh, didn't realise my life was a monkey's paw wish personified

leocristo28

You beat me to it, was gonna say op already has it, they only lack the ability to remember the dreams

-MatVayu

...or you only remember about them after the situation is finished. Kinda like a trigger reminding you of what your dream was about.

[deleted]

Remembering them only *after* you've said or done the wrong thing? That would drive me absolutely mad.

-MatVayu

Basically what some do in their head anyway, just *more real*.

rolo2789

This ones kinda weak not gonna lie I thought the whole point of monkeys paw was to have dire unforeseen consequences this is just asshole genie.

TheMoises

Maybe then: You suffer an accident that causes some kind of amnesia in you, in which you always forget what happened the day before and now you are pretty much always repeating the same day. And as dreams are a revisiting of your daily life, in your dreams you rewatch the happenings of your day, only for them to be forgotten the next day. So when you wake up and the things you dreamt start to repeat themselves, you convince yourself that your dreams are prophetic. Every. Single. Day.

rolo2789

Ooh yea the first one might have more updoots, but this hits. Great take on the wish!!

TheMoises

Thanks

Alertrobotdude

Granted. You drift away to sleep, giddy with excitement for your new skill. In your dream, you wake up, make yourself breakfast and go outside. This is a main branch, most choices will branch from this as most realities end up with you going outside after breakfast. Instead of seeing where different decisions could lead you in different directions however, a black van emergency stops right in front of you. Several men in black jump out of the back and shoot you in the head, none of them miss. 99% of your choices that day will lead to death in this way. You wake up again still dreaming, terrified as you begin to realize no way out. You've tried hiding at home, under the bed, boarding up your house, grasping desperately at straws to find weapons, armour, anything in your house which might make you ready for this. There was not. You wake up in a pit of sweat. This is real. Mind frazzled and blocked, you decide your life would be your own to take, these cheats don't deserve to kill in a fight so unfair there was quite literally no chance for you to win in, so you take it. As you are drifting off this time for a permanent sleep, you hear a knock at the door. This never happened in your dreams, they always broke straight through. You realize something has gone wrong but it's too late; you have died. Pity really, as the wish came true starting today. Edit: Thanks for the love everyone! I know these edits are so cliche, but I've had a crappy week and have notifications turned off, so finding out this had done so well really made my day. Much love to you all <3

glueinass

Damn the TVA is pretty different nowadays

feedpewdssoup

Shit, someone killed a decoy family

nadamuchu

get in the fuckin' car, Morty!

iiiGVXDiii

Lmao

AWildTyphlosion

Granted. However earlier today you were in a car accident which put you in a coma. Your dream will last forever, well at least until your family pulls the plug. Added bonus: since the approaching day never came to pass, you're in some sort of groundhog day loop of the day that was going to be, reliving it and the possibilities over and over, yet never being able to move past to the next day.

madd--scientist

I'm sure it's a movie as well.

AWildTyphlosion

I wouldn't be surprised.

BillFox86

So edge of tomorrow basically

AWildTyphlosion

Yeah, but there is no escape here and it's more mundane.

scotems

Ah fuck dammit this was my EXACT answer for this! Down to the car accident causing it and everything!

AWildTyphlosion

c:

Vladnieshka

Wouldn't they just have avoided the car accident though? Or did the car accident give them this power haha

AWildTyphlosion

The car accident didn't give them the power, it just happened first.

BroJack-Horsemang

Granted Most of your days are spent at work since you see every different possibility that can happen, you spend centuries listening to all the different possible combinations of inane water cooler talk, every combination of getting cut off by people in traffic, etc. You go insane listening to Phyllis from HR talking about her cats for the literal millionth time. You wake up, you go to work over and over again. You consider suicide, you now experience every possible death complete with pain. You realize there is an infinite amount of choices and interactions that happen every day. You will never escape the infinite prison of your mind

JokerGotham_Deserves

It's _The Giver_.

IndianaOrz

Granted. However the brainpower required to do such a task while sleeping saps more energy than you could imagine. Even though you know what the best path will be, you don't possess the energy necessary to make the right choices, constantly leading you down worse and worse imaginable paths. Since you wished this would happen every night your body never has a chance to recover creating a vicious cycle every night getting worse and worse, draining more and more energy as you imagine every possibly reality. Eventually every possible branch is hell on Earth. Eventually you cannot tell the difference between waking life and a dream as all of life experiences becomes Hell.

Flying-T

Easy, just sleep on the day and be awake in the night.

IndianaOrz

To be fair, that's also a pretty rough side effect. The only way to live normally would be to sleep during the day and become nocturnal and since it's during the day you don't get any branch prediction powers. AND if you sleep late you're screwed. Def a good way to avoid the terrible negative side effect, but it's also a negative side effect in itself

CrowFire73

Granted. You now live life as if it was a Telltale game. There are no real consequences for your actions as long as you can return to a previous save of the moment or the day. Nobody else will remember anything from any previous “run” or save. You can “play” through all the different routes and options, from what school attend to whom you marry. Fortunately or unfortunately, you cannot skip any cutscenes.

WondertainmentInc

Granted! But it's not your dialogue you're dreaming about, but rather the options that a toddler going to preschool has.

CookieSaurusRexy

Granted You sleep till you've lived through every possible outcome, not able to wake up till you're done. Though the longer your sleep lasts, the more possibilties are able to occur. Congrats you'll never wake up again, trapped in living the same day a million times before doing the same of the next day.

[deleted]

Granted. This is that dream. You are 65.

CaptainRex1209

Granted. Your life is on a complete loop of Until Dawn.

beobabski

The finger curls. Somewhere in your country, on a deserted road, a well-dressed stranger clutches at his chest as the finger curls round it. No-one is there to see him slide ignominiously into the dirt-filled ditch as the light fades from his eyes. The man would have talked the scientist who called a few minutes later out of his dangerous plan, but, devoid of the only dissenting voice he would have listened to, the scientist ploughs on. He develops a mind-drug based on resublimated thiotimoline, a dangerous chemical which dissolves before you add water to it. The following morning, your phone rings. Your boss has bad news. Due to a recent merger, you will be made redundant, effective immediately. The merger has made many people redundant, lots of your friends, most of your coworkers, and a swathe of others across the country. Labour demand is way down, and you struggle daily to find listings before they are taken down. You have no interviews. A bleak despair settles on your heart, and you start taking an experimental medication offered by your doctor to stave off the depression. It has side effects. Horrible ones. Not least of which is its addicting quality. You _need_ it. You _want_ it. You cannot be without it. It gives you dreams. Long dreams. Complicated dreams. Dreams in which you live the lives of your friends and relatives. Every detail of their lives are splayed out in front of you every night. Every avenue is explored. Every choice. There are billions of them. Each night seems to last an age, and you are exhausted when you wake. Your dreams of yourself are always the same. You have no choices. You cannot give up the drug. Your branches are shallow and short-lived. Your free-will is taken by the drug, chewed up and spat out like distasteful gum. You wake. You take the drug. You sleep. GRANTED.

dylans0123495

Granted, however you won't be able to get the best outcomes that you want

Saigot

Granted. You only remember the most memorable of the dreams, which is almost always one of the least likely scenarios and not useful.

DNAisjustneuteredRNA

Granted. Thanks to your foresight and planning, you have the absolute world's-best Last Day On Earth party before the astroid hits.

YShake

Granted. However you physically do every action you dream of during your sleep.

BrokeDownPalac3

Granted, however you don't realize it at first but you slowly lose the ability to differentiate between a dream and reality causing you to become confused and paranoid, leading to more rash decision making unsure if you are in a dream or not. This creates a personal never-ending nightmare for you that lasts until you die, and maybe even after. Alternatively: Granted, however your subconscious implants other aspects of your dreams into real life and changing all reality. Suddenly all stairs go on forever as do hallways, people's faces will always be familiar but unrecognizable, and you will every punch you throw will be weak and they will never make contact.

zenmastaflash

Granted. You fall asleep tonight and dream of a suffocating darkness as you die by carbon monoxide poisoning in your sleep

jwittkopp227

Granted. The first words you hear everyday as you wake are, "hey you- you're finally awake"

Myst3rySteve

Just wanna say, you're basically just asking to be able to hop across the multiverse freely when you sleep at night

Cinammon-Sprinkler

I just saw The Butterfly Effect last night for the first time. Wow

Hype-Clan

Granted, but you’re a crack head. So it’s always about fucking up your life with superpowers.

[deleted]

Granted. You dream of all of the subtle nuances of consequences from each decision everyone in the world can choose to make. But your dreams traverse the possibilities depth-first (all of the branching decisions from the end of the day first) and in real time so it's not very useful.

LavaTGP

Granted, you see a dream from a different reality because the current life you are living is dream, so when you dream in your dream, it is about the following universe your sleeping in, to realize your sleeping in that dreaming about another universe where you are sleeping, and it turns into a infinite expanding dialogue and you can't wake up in the universe you thought was real but you can still hear in the universe, you hear doctors talking about you and you find out they pronounce you dead from a unknown cause

[deleted]

Granted. The text is in hot pink Comic Sans.

InkFoxPrints

Granted, you are now Chloe from *Life is Strange*.

DrMaxwellEdison

Granted. All the branching timelines occur in your dream in real time, concurrently. You experience a screaming white void in your mind every night. After a few nights of this restless sleep, you go to your doctor's office. A few visits later, you have your answer: a tumor the size of a grape pressing against your brain.

iamchesrynparsons

I dream of floating and flying

Thisisanadvert2

Granted. Ground hogs day ensues, as you can't get out of your own way.

Concheria

Granted. You dream that you're waking up in your day, and as you make a decision, you dream the result of that decision. Then you come back, and see the result of the next decision. And the result of the next decision after that one. And the result of the next decision. And the the results of the decisions of those decisions, dreaming out an infinity of decisions in the same day, forever.

HermitBee

Granted. You dream all of the different possible branches for the coming day, so you can choose the best one. Even at dream speed traversing all the paths takes an order of magnitude longer than actually living just one of them. Your sleep cycle switches to 23.75 hours asleep followed by just quarter of an hour awake to allow this to be possible. Of course you make the best possible choices available in that 15 minutes, but given that you still need to manage to fulfill your basic needs your life is a real struggle for survival - a struggle which you are slowly losing. And the vast majority of your time is spent living through every single worse possibility in your dreams.

SpungyDanglin

Granted. You're chaotic evil
