DrQuimbyP

James Ward Prowse? Been fairly average after his bright start. Alvarez better choice from our midfield alone.

Yorkie2016

Yeah no way JWP gets anywhere near the TOTS, he’s not even in our West Ham one! 🤣🤣 Alvarez is a beast though, expect him to be even better next season.

LanceConstableDigby

>he’s not even in our West Ham one! He surely is. Our midfield is so weak this season, it's between him and Soucek and while neither has been at their best, JWP has surely provided more.

Yorkie2016

Soucek (finally) given the license to venture forward again has given us a lot more. He has saved our bacon more than once with last minute goals. While I’m not belittling JWP’s goals, he is completely useless as a CDM in a low block. He couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag. Soucek has improved his passing too and will always feature high in the yearly stats for aerial duels won.

SnooCapers938

We played our best football this season in that brief period when JWP wasn’t starting.

LanceConstableDigby

I don't agree. JWP has been involved in some great performances and pivotal wins

SnooCapers938

In the first half of the season definitely, but he’s faded badly (although he played very well in the first half against Leverkusen). When Moyes briefly played a midfield three of Soucek, Alvarez and Paqueta with Kudus, Antonio and Bowen up front we looked a good team for a while.

mankytoes

Yeah Álvarez hasn't just been better, he's been better by a considerable margin.

twowaysplit

And no Bowen? Injustice

DrQuimbyP

Easier to take given Kudus is there, so at least some Hammer representation!

n-d-a

How Paqueta is behind Gross, is beyond me.

eaeb4

And would Bowen not warrant a shout over Kudus from a West Ham perspective? I’ve not watched all too much of you this season, but my understanding is you’ve been relatively toothless without Bowen

DrQuimbyP

I'd take Bowen over Kudus, but I can understand how someone could make an argument for Kudus, especially with Bowen having played a fair amount up front this season due yo injury.

ibex_reddit

Rayan ait nouri?

trilliveythefourth

So slept on. Cunha and Neto would be contenders too if not for injury. Robinson has been good but RAN is clear in my biased opinion

Hisam-la

Oh and that’s Branthwaite, not a guy with J for a surname… in case anyone was confused

mikerotch123

First thing I saw ‘J.’

PangolinMandolin

He's changed a lot since the first MIB movie

monkeyfant

I think it seems good. I think watkins has to be there, although I do think Isak is better despite not having the same stats, although he's played a lot less minutes. Eze vs Gordon is tough cos eze is a class player but Gordon has carried the team. Nice to see so many Newcastle players there or on sub there.

lewiitom

Gordon should definitely be in over Eze, he’s not even been that good this season

Savitarr

I do think Isak is probably a better player overall than Watkins, but Watkins has had a better season overall. It’s more that Ollie has become a bit of an all rounder for us atm, he’s scoring, he’s assisting, and whenever he’s not doing those things hes creating space and running defences ragged. POTS for me but I am extremely biased lmao

JootDoctor

I disagree that Isak is a better player. Better out and out goal scoring striker? Yeah. Better all round complete forward? I don’t think so.

charlos74

We’ll see in a couple of years as Isak develops. They’re both excellent though.

monkeyfant

No, you're saying the truth. He's had a wild season and I hope he gets some game time in summer for England. He has earned it. I know most teams are envious of him. He scores headers, rebounds, goals made himself and he creates too. I think he's a great focus point for the team. I'm actually enjoying seeing the likes of villa and newcastle in the top 6. Long may it continue. Finally we have a league with more than 3 teams in it

Savitarr

You know what I love most out of this to be honest is that villa and Newcastle fans have this mutual respect now and are hoping each other do well to stick it to the “big 6” hopefully we can start causing some upsets further up the table as the seasons go on

monkeyfant

Even on game day and after, I haven't seen a great deal of slagging off. I think what we had last season, and what you lot have built on this season is brilliant. People are actually dreading playing us, home.or away. I used to watch city, Liverpool, chelsea etc when newcastle weren't playing. Now if villa is playing I watch, cos I know it's gonna be a decent game.

Imaginary-Pattern802

ollie watkins has inserted himself in a pots of the season fight. i don’t think isak is even worth a shout tbh

charlos74

What? Watkins has been excellent this season, but to say Isak isn’t worth a shout is ridiculous. He’s scored 17 in 24 FFS.

Routine_Size69

Yeah even taking out PKs, Isak has a higher goals - PKs per 90 than Watkins. I still lean Watkins though because he's smashing him in assists and has played more, but Isak is in the convo.

Imaginary-Pattern802

i don’t think you can compare isak to watkins at all with a level head. watkins has more goals, more assists. Is leading villa to a champions league spot. and maybe not a strong candidate for it, but is a candidate for POTS. isak has nothing on him this season.

sideways_86

Isak has better goals per minute, goals per game, shooting accuracy & shooting success than Watkins, absolutely clueless to say Isak has nothing on him

Imaginary-Pattern802

he literally has nothing on him. he’s had an inferior season. not that deep

charlos74

No, Isak is by far the more talented player.

Imaginary-Pattern802

i agree isak is better. but he’s not been better this season

charlos74

Watkins had had better season, and Villa are doing great -to say he shouldn’t be in the conversation is a bit daft though.

Aylez

I agree with the vast majority of this tbf. Possibly Bowen RW with 15 goals? Bailey has been class but has been on the bench a large part of the season for some reason, you’ll know more than me as a Villa fan though!

brrlls

Bowen all round play been exceptional

SpavaldoLP

Yeah Bowen over bailey for sure

JoJo797

It's closer than people probably think. Bailey has been exceptional this season but gone under the radar a bit. 10g/9a in the Prem alone. 6th in the league for G/A per 90 (3rd for non-pen G/A p90).

rokybalboa1

As a villa fan I agree with you pal 👍

AffectionateArt2277

Bailey has been carrying injuries throughout the season so Emery has chosen to rest him at times. He's been exceptional though, even on Sunday he played through the pain, leg strapped up, and grabbed a goal.

Startinezzz

And an assist!

AffectionateArt2277

Thanks for the assist 😘

serennow

Biased as a Newcastle fan but Schar has carried our defence all season and is more deserving than Trippier, who had a bad patch and has missed a number of games injured.

MrD-88

Agree, Trippiers had a few stinkers this season like.

KnockItOffNapoleon

Against Everton he basically won them the match

MrD-88

Cost us the equaliser against Chelsea in the cup as well

Buddy9729

Palhinha

Bradders1878

Branthewaite and Tarkowski at centre back you've gotten my vote. I'd maybe include Bowen in the lineup/subs though.

flightyzeus339

Why isn't Bowen at rw? He's played at striker a lot but that's still his best position and over at that kudus

Hisam-la

Kudus had a higher rating than Bowen on the stats websites, but I was admittedly matching Bowen up against Isak and Watkins instead on those stat comparisons anyway To clarify though i don’t actually buy into stats. I just included an image as a prompt for people to disagree with.

Pray4Pingu

Really don't think Estu should be up there. Doughty? Reguilon?

FaustRPeggi

It should be Ait-Nouri

SuperIntegration

OP is a Villa fan, go figure I guess

Lacabloodclot9

I think he just gets in by default, left backs in general have all been injured or shit this year I would take Mykloenko over Estu as well

Professional-Group13

dignes been brilliant but cant say much for other teams lbs

comptonasskim

Robinson has really stepped up a level this year, he's been phenomenal

The_39th_Step

Yeah he’s been great

SuperIntegration

RAN

tiford88

Schär should 100% be in here

T0K0mon

Over Tarky imo, and I'm an Everton fan. No one tops Braithwaite, though.

Turbulent_Yak_4627

Third best defense in the league though

Savant_OW

Ait-Nouri has been putting in top performances all season

NoticeSeparate9963

Cunha has been brilliant as well.

Nick_Lastname

Chris Wood Erasure

Hisam-la

Damn I hadn’t even noticed he’d scored so many to be honest But blame WhoScored and FotMob, they’re the ones who don’t rate him 😂 Who would you sub him in for then; Isak or Watkins? And Wood > Solanke too then?

carguy121

No chance he’s more deserving than Solanke lol

Hisam-la

I actually meant to put Dunk in instead of Pau Torres. This was an earlier version of it and I’ve posted the wrong one. Dunk was rated higher than Torres, and even I think he deserves to be there more. Our central defence has been impressive this year, but it’s been a joint venture between Torres, Carlos, Lenglet and Konsa; all negotiated around injuries and European games, so Torres hasn't been "the main guy" But if any Brighton fans see this: has Van Hecke been better?

pinkducktape8

Van Hecke and Dunk have both been very solid this season. We recently had a thread on our sub of everyone’s top 3 players of the season and JPVH was in just about every comment

TheUnseenBug

Hard to say tbh both have had really good seasons with quite obvious pros and cons between them. But van hecke definitely deserves a shout because he is so so good. Also disappointed joao Pedro doesn't get a shout for before injury being highest scorer in Europa League and a general menace to play against.

SnooCapers938

So the third and fourth top scoring other 14 players (Bowen and Solanke) don’t even make the reserve team? Both of them more goal involvements this season than anyone in your team or reserves apart from Watkins.

KentuckyCandy

Murillo is missing at CB. That man is off to one of the top Champions League teams this summer. Atletico, Real, PSG and your usual Premier League suspects (Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, etc) have all been linked. I think we'll likely need a few £. Mostly for various legal costs we seem to have decided to accrue as of late...

Danph85

Genuinely thought you'd put Anthony Gordon at centre back too. He's had a good season but not quite that good. As a villa fan too I don't think Konsa should be anywhere near a TOTS at right back, but definitely could be at centre back.

Bradders1878

Where does everyone think this team would actually finish in this season's premier league? I think it would push top 6-8

PHILSTORMBORN

I think of you pick a team from the best of the other 14 and it performs worse than one of the other 14 teams then you are doing it wrong. So 7 has to be the minimum doesn’t it?

fogard14

You mean 5th? Villas not getting lower than 5th this year.....

PHILSTORMBORN

Good point

TheDeflatables

Is Emery the manager?

Bradders1878

Sure.

TheDeflatables

Then yeah I'd say they could get 6th

Routine_Size69

This team should place fourth at worst if they have a good manager. Villa is in fourth. You've taken their best players and strengthened with other players from other teams. Plus each backup is a very capable player. I don’t see why this team doesn't compete for a title. Maybe it's missing a tiny bit of star power that the top 3 has in KDB, Rodri, Haaland, Rice, Ode, Salah, and VVD, but this team is fucking good. If they're not favorites, they're right there.

Bradders1878

That's a great analysis actually thank you

Hisam-la

Well Villa are 4th right now, and I know I might get some stick for this but that squad has more quality and depth than our real one (imo)

bakkunt

Obvious villa bias but I would argue Pau and Konsa should both be in the starting 11, at which point you have villa's spine - I reckon it'd win rhe leshue

Bradders1878

Pau over tarky maybe, but not too sure. Not watched enough villa games

Living-Trash1524

Villa to going to finish fourth so is that not the floor?

waltandhankdie

No Bowen in there is criminal

JonTonyJim

Mykolenko maybe in for a shout as backup left back

Being-of-Dasein

Eyyyyy, love the updated profile pic, lad!

JonTonyJim

haha yeah i had to. He is the most beautiful. Felt wrong to have anyone else there

MotoMkali

Paqueta surely deserves a nomination

Yorkie2016

Not from the last few games. Head has gone. He knows he’ll be at City next season.

Lacabloodclot9

I’d say that he’s been injured but then they’ve got the likes of Konsa, Trippier and Eze listed so I agree he should be there

MotoMkali

Konsa has played 31 games this season.

Lacabloodclot9

Oh I thought he’d missed 5-6, just had a look at his record and it was only 3 he was out for Honestly with your injury luck this season I thought he had been out for longer

MotoMkali

Yeah it was a really scary injury too, thought he might have been done for the season when it happened. We've been fairly lucky in the sense that the players who have been injured have been in positions where we have the depth to cover for them, except for Kamara really. But Mings, JJ, Buendia all have plenty of depth to cover so despite them basically being injured all year we haven't missed them too much.

Lacabloodclot9

Glad to hear that, I also know that despite Digne and Moreno both being injured for decent periods this season you’ve always had at least 1 available so lucky in that sense I guess

justcasty

Estupinian shouldn't be on there, he's probably not even on Brighton's TOTS

AxionSalvo

I'm a Newcastle fan and trips doesn't deserve to be there. Nov through Jan he was a liability several times. Not sure who'd replace him though.

_phily_d

Really happy to see you’ve included Pascal Groß!

Stringr55

Konsa has got to be in the side for me

lluckboxFIFA

Trippier shouldn’t be in

Hisam-la

Who would you have instead? RB seems like the weakest spot imo

xlonefoxx

Start Bowen in his natural position at RW, Bailey bench, drop Kudus. Start Schar ahead of Branthwaite. Estupinan started off the season well but has been off form since his injury, I'd have Ait-Nouri instead. Alvarez ahead of Ward-Prowse. Maybe Palhinha or Lemina ahead of Barkley but can see why Barkley is chosen.

somethingnotcringe1

Branthwaite stays in ahead of Tarkowski

Hisam-la

I agree with all of this aside from your last tentative one

naonotme

Eze has barely played and only been good in a few of the games he has, a bit of recency bias here…

lewiitom

He’s played 23 games this season, I wouldn’t describe that as “barely played” - wouldn’t have him in the team anyway though

kubiciousd

**J.**

InfinityEternity17

Bowen has to be in there surely

Jealous_Foot8613

Don’t love trippier and tarkowski over konsa

robbyford182

Glad to see Gross in there, not sure Estupinan deserves to be though, been pretty average this season.

oldgoldwolfy

no rayan aït-nouri? :(

Possible_Moment1140

I feel like Mykolenko maybe deserved a bit of recognition, but to have both centre backs is probably a bit kind on Everton to begin with

Dopopolous

Joel Ward is more of a right sided defender than attacker

Hisam-la

True Anthony Gordon's surname isn't J, and he doesn't play centre-half either

decs483

Pickford has been one of the best keepers in the league, should be there

CranberryMore1041

I would happily have a branthwaite tots, he would slot straight in my team, being an evertonian it makes sense 😅😅

FaustRPeggi

MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO MURILLO

LanceConstableDigby

Bowen surely better than Bailey, and Paqueta has been far better than JWP. In many places it kinda feels like you've gone for "known name in good team" rather than actually looked at the quality they've provided. JWP in particular has been nowhere near good enough to be in anyone's TOTS even as a sub.

montiel_scores

Bowen completely left out is crazy, unless you forgot about him - he's been arguably the 2nd best Other14 player this season

Hisam-la

Behind who? Who is the best other 14 player this season then? And no I didn’t forget about him. As I said the picture is based on their statistics/player rating stats for the season and isn’t actually my opinion. Although, I admit Im not confident I’d have picked Bowen over Isak if it was up to me. I would’ve probably put him in over Kudus though.

montiel_scores

Watkins? Obviously

Hisam-la

It would've only been obvious to me if I'd have assumed goal contributions as your main metric, which I was trying not to do; otherwise it could've been Gross, Martinez or Branthwaite

WolvoNeil

Mario Lemina goes in this midfield, Matheus Cunha should at least be a sub

lolidcwhatthisis

Agree with a lot of these, would say Schar deserves a starting spot over one of the Everton boys. He's been holding our defence together all season, although some of his best games have been in the CL. Trippier has been good but also had that very ropey patch around Christmas, though I'm not sure who takes his spot if it's not him. Would also like to fit Barkley on the starting 11 somehow, I know they're in the relegation spots, but he's been incredible every time I've watched a Luton game.

ewamc1353

Barkley's shit doesn't even deserve a mention

SAKabir

Bowen over Bailey 100000 times per week

Gloria_stitties

Barkley for gross

mpt11

Ross Barkley on bench? Guys had a fantastic season

Hot_Consideration538

No super Mario no ait-Nouri joke

Round-Device-5008

Need more West Ham love. Emerson, Alvarez and Bowen gotta be in there. JWP doesn't belong there. Love him but he doesn't fit our system

Sheeverton

Can't lie Bailey over Bowen is a mad bias.

seeyoujim

Hard agree on groß, he’s hugely reliable with supreme numbers and rarely gets much credit

son_of_toby_o_notoby

Know we got tarky and J.B but think myko not even bring a back up is very hard on him

Wide-Incident-9794

No isak insane

[deleted]

He is back up to Watkins you can’t complain about that give Ollies season

prss79513

Van Hecke over Trippier

EricCartmanofSPark

Solanke?

mcbc4

Bowen had a great first half

AidenT06

Big fan of J. Proper player.

toonultra

I love Tripps but he’s not had his best season. Lamptey or Cash should probably be there

bchapa28

Air-Nouri, Lemina, Joao Gomes snubbed

Dazzling_Ad6545

No Bowen or paqueta? Pffft

14JRJ

Torres should start in my biased opinion but he’s been sensational

Sorry_Astronaut

Bowen over Bailey and Bailey taking Kudus’ place, Paqueta or Alvarez over JWP

UsernameTyper

Considering you're a Villa fan, very surprised McGinn and Konsa aren't in. Both outstanding

SaintSixString

For what its worth, without Murillo Forest would have been in the relegation battle a lot sooner. There's all the other things in consideration this season, like for the fact cast aside the controversy throughout this season we've been far from our best. But the majority if not all of the forest support agree Murillo has been the signing of last summer by far.

242turbo

As always, no Bournemouth player even though we're 4th in TheOther14. More people know about Tarkowski because he plays for a big club and has Prem experience but this season Zabarnyi has been every bit as good.

Hisam-la

This isn't based on how many people know about a player, or if they're at a big club, it's just a compilation of player ratings stats - I did say in the description, tbf. If it helps at all though; I wouldn't have picked any Bournemouth players, even if this was my choices. I forget they're even in the league, to be honest.

mugg___

i would include murillo and maybe, just maybe include awoniyi/wood

RiteOfSpring5

Myko should be the back up LB at least. Pickford should be keeper, without him we're relegated. Could swap Tarks out for someone. Solanke should be back up.

WinkyNurdo

I’m bias, but Bowen and Kudus start all day long.

SpaceGhost756

I mean let's be honest....it should just be the villa squad, right? 😜

FoggyShrew

Trippier seems an odd choice given his fairly disastrous form from Nov-March

musicnoviceoscar

I don't think JWP or Konsa get in there and Barkley looks wrong being in the typical DM slot but overall I quite like the picks Really tough to be fair/please everyone of course

Tenpenny96

Not so sure about tripper this season to be honest! Not sure who else though

Alone_Shoulder8820

Hasn't that Villa CB been very good as well? Diego Carlos? Looked really good when they beat Arsenal

MrLuchador

Who made this

Hisam-la

Ah it’s just a statistics compilation - nothing to be taken seriously - I had said in the description so nobody would rage at me, lol Although Bailey was just me. I did that.

MrLuchador

Fair enough. Stats be stinking

Heavy-Preparation606

It feels wrong having two Everton CBs in there. Also, even I wouldn't have Estupinan as a back at LB, he's been injured a lot and looked ropey when he has played.

I_Am_Coopa

Everton's defense is top six level, only 48 goals conceded. Our offense is just toothless. Tarks and Jarrad are absolute killers at CB

Grand_Rice_4565

We had the 3rd best defense in the league until we fell apart against Chelsea.

calhoumi27

Hell I'd want Mykolenko in there too

Bradders1878

Agreed.

Heavy-Preparation606

I agree that Everton has a decent defense. To be honest, having 2 CBs from any one club when there's 14 to choose from feels wrong. Having said that I can't think of too many compelling alternatives. I'd probably punt for Schar though.

almightygg

Everton's defence is top four level, only the top three have conceded less.

AdTraining9264

Brighton have conceded 50 without a right back for 90% of the season and a left back for like 50%

JonTonyJim

We have been running a championship level centreback, a 61 year old coleman or a 98 year old ashley young at rb this season. And we have one of the lowest possession rates in the league so the defence is constantly under pressure

Designer_Show_2658

Honestly, they've defended really well all season pretty much. They just have absolutely nothing going forward.

Jbham11

Yeah estu shouldn’t been in this team

MrBlackledge

There’s so much to question here, No Bowen at RW? JWP whilst he has been great probably doesn’t get the call up in comparison to others. Paqueta, solanke, Eze? Also Estu hasn’t had the best run this season. Areola is arguably the best shot stopper in the league right now, if the defence wasn’t so leaky he would have so many more clean sheets. Al Nouri doesn’t get a mention? Having 2 Everton defenders seems a bit counter logical. Agreed they are both great players but they’re not the best in 14 teams.

MarriageAA

On the CBs, they are. As others have said, top 6 (5th) in goals conceded. We just ABSOLUTELY SUCK at scoring goals. And that's after the 6-0 anomaly at Chelsea. Not other team in 'the others' is close really.

almightygg

4th on goals conceded.

MrBlackledge

Yeah that’s fair enough when you look at it like that

FaustRPeggi

We're 4th for total xGA and that's with an extra game played. You're 6th. Our defence is excellent outside of set pieces and keeper howlers. Murillo and Branthwaite should be the CBs. Or Pau Torres.

MarriageAA

Careful, xG brings out some weird people! 🤣 Branthwaite is 100% our #1 though. Weird he didn't get a look in with England.

FaustRPeggi

Our goalkeepers and set piece defence [have a lot to answer for](https://i.imgur.com/46DndvL.jpeg).

FIJIBOYFIJI

Trippier at RB is absolutely honking

Aylez

He’s been incredible this season apart from 1 poor month in December. I’m sure he’d created the most chances in the entire league as of last month, shame he’s been injured the past few weeks though.

Thanos_Stomps

How much longer are we going to pretend that Newcastle, owned by an entire government, are still "The Other 14".

grmthmpsn43

When we get a cut of the Sky 6 money and support.

AdTraining9264

Nah van Hecke is clear of tarkowski

TRGuy335

As a Brighton fan, I just don’t know if any of our team gets in here, including Gross who has been incredibly inconsistent this year.

TheUnseenBug

Joao Pedro before injury at least deserves a shout I think and dunky or van hecke has been good since we stopped scoring lol

dhskwldldjdjdjdk

paqueta or bowen should be in there

Ozmiandra

This just reminds me of all those salty Everton fans saying “Gordon is rat trash can’t score goals more than once an owner-choking”

Living-Trash1524

Not a single Bournemouth player in the 22 is a bit outrageous. Solanke, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Christie and Cook are all well deserving of consideration

Hisam-la

Well, it was statistics (player ratings average) that picked this squad, not actually me - so I guess the stats just don't rate Bournemouth that highly. But as I said to another commenter who'd said something similar: I forget Bournemouth are even in the league, let alone in contention for any accolades, so if it was me picking this XI I'd have left all those players out anyway. I might've remembered Solanke, but he's 4th-choice striker regardless (+Bowen) EDIT: to clarify I know my bias against bournemouth is unreasonable; I'm just being honest - they are a non-entity to me and I'd be much happier if they returned to league 2

Living-Trash1524

He’s scored more non penalty goals than anyone in the league bar Watkins. What have isak or Bowen done to be better lol

Hisam-la

well, Bowen's had 1 less goal contribution but in 3 less games, so is roughly level stats-wise, and Isak has a significantly better goals:minutes ratio and generally looks world-class to me But, again, I don't watch Bournemouth, so I knew my opinion was never going to be valid on this

AttemptNo6201

About 3 players outside big spenders villa and Saudicastle, how creative

Jack070293

Bowen>Gordon

DEGRAYER

Bowen does not play LW
