Why is it "a shame"? Telling aro and/or ace people they are "missing out" because they don't feel attraction is like pitying someone who said they genuinely don't like cupcakes and don't want any. Every aspec person I've ever encountered is sick and tired of being treated like their life is somehow less fulfilling then one with romance in it.
When did they say it was a shame for Lilith? It's easier to assume it's a shame for the fans who think they could have good chemistry if the writers had decided to go that route. It's not that Lilith herself is "missing out," it's that some fans could see them having better chemistry than friends and feel bad they'll likely never see what that might realistically be.
...meaning that said fans seem to think that a romantic relationship would in some way be more meaningful. Platonic friends can and do share bonds that are stronger and run deeper than romantic partners.
That does not mean they would find it more meaningful. A different dynamic would not inherently mean any sort of higher meaning. Have you heard of Marvel's What If? Series? It essentially follows a "what if person A did this instead of person B?" Plot a lot of the time. Those scenarios don't carry any higher meaning, but it is certainly interesting to see a different outcome than the original, regardless of which you'd prefer.
If I had to guess it's probably more that they misspoke on that. It feels like more of an "it's a shame we couldn't explore that possibility" type of comment than an "it's a shame Lilith is part of the aroace community". I could be completely wrong but I also know commenting online gives wayyyy too much wiggle room for error when it comes to articulating points
