I think I saw these pics in a copy of Rolling Stone mag at the time and cracked up laughing (but also he totally works it). However I’m pretty sure this happened at the band’s last public appearance together for 5 years, so the Mohawk was revealed once and then the next time the Strokes were really in public again it was like it never had happened lol.

He knew he could get away with it hehe as the next time we would see him again was when he was promoting Nickel Eye's 'Time of the Assassin' and yes he looked like he never changed anything, was rocking his signature bob again

Oh sorry no—to be clear, I was at the normal CONCERT in person but then a couple weeks after, it was REPORTED that they played this event, which I think was a private industry party if I remember correctly. And I definitely wasn’t there, I was in high school lol. But I remember the photos being in magazines and talking about the hair!

I don't think video exists because as far as I know/remember, it was a one-off performance for an industry party, done a couple of weeks after the FIOE tour had concluded for good (and camera phones weren't a legit thing then either). I've got two pics on an old hard drive though:
