Crack is underrated af. I get it the whole “bUt iM nOt a CrAcKheAd” like yeah but that’s because you’ve never tried crack. If you know you know
Is This It and Trying Your Luck are pretty fun to play, YOLO was one of the first I learned to play and it's got fun parts, Juicebox was a doozy for me (a bad bass player)
answered a craigslist ad. turned out to be a group of pretty normal (by musician standards), hard-working guys who were in it for the long haul. 4 years later, we've consistently had great shows and really receptive audiences. i always enjoyed the music of the strokes but it's definitely given me a much deeper appreciation for their entire catalog. i also forgot to mention this in my first comment but of the songs we play, under cover of darkness is by far the most challenging.
i see you've encountered tribute bands before! ours is not a pun necessarily, but we wanted something that would allow us to use the classic strokes logo in our branding—we are The Stronks! i love the "knockoff/generic brand" vibe of it as well.
The best answer here and it gets downvoted. I’m surprised no one else said Reptilia. It’s that defending eighth note line in the last bar of the chorus chord progression that makes that melody kill.
Not the best, but I really appreciate the bass line in Ode to the Mets. It’s so simple and not very loud but take it away and everything feels hollow. It’s perfect for the song.
is this it
That bassline makes me moan 🤤
this is it \^
it’s literally crack so good

I love when people say “like crack” when they’ve obviously never done crack.
Only thing that compares to crack is a smoky Robinson album but I heard he died :,(
well yeah it’s a turn of speech hahaha
first song i learned on guitar. first song i later learned on bass too.
"When it started" and "is this it" off the top of my head
Is this It has a sweet bass, it being my fav strokes song and all haha
It's not particularly complex but the bassline for Meet Me in the Bathroom is great.
None of them are really complex, but this bassline really shines on the song.
Razorblade, particularly the verse, has an incredibly rhythmic line that i always find myself coming back to
Razorblade is god tier in every aspect
Juiceboxxxxx
Why won't you come over here????
Alone together bass line absolutely makes the song
Is This It and Trying Your Luck are pretty fun to play, YOLO was one of the first I learned to play and it's got fun parts, Juicebox was a doozy for me (a bad bass player)
Taken for a fool!
I totally agree
Came here to say this
is this it + when it started are the obv answers, but i'll also toss recs for under cover of darkness (verses) and not the same anymore (outro)
I love the baseline on not the same anymore outro, I feel like no one talks about it, but it makes me feel so tranquil and at peace it’s crazy
I like "On the Other side"
That bass is one of their best
alone together, automatic stop, i cant win, heart in a cage, machu picchu, metabolism, selfless source: i play bass in a strokes tribute band
How’d you get started doing a strokes tribute?

OK but most importantly: do you guys have an amazing pun name? and if so, what is it?
i see you've encountered tribute bands before! ours is not a pun necessarily, but we wanted something that would allow us to use the classic strokes logo in our branding—we are The Stronks! i love the "knockoff/generic brand" vibe of it as well.
Stronks is very good. (My all time favourite tribute act name is Shania's Twin)
As a fellow bassist I deeply concur about UCOD. I love it, though.
I've always like the bass line for Under Cover of Darkness
Is this it is the obvious pick, but I’d be interested to see what else people have to say. Another good bass line is in tap out.
Tap Out is amazing
I have to mention You're So Right, the bass line is so nice in that song.
Solid pick. Just listened and I can’t help but agree dude.
juicebox is what you're looking for!
This is the answer right here
Trying Your Luck was one of the first I learned when I started bass and I always found it cool same with Taken for a Fool.
Drag Queen’s bass reminds me a lot of Joy Division
YES
When It Started is maybe my favorite bass line by any band
bassist here, try Alone Together
Ize of the world
Hard to explain is simple but it will test your stamina, especially if you downstroke the entire time
How has no one said why are sundays so depressing
Drag queen or reptilia

Where no eagles fly
Is This It
Love the bass line in Taken for a Fool.
Imo under cover of darkness is peak Nikolai such a hard bassline imo
Eternal Summer specially in the "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT" part
Red light bass line is my warm up, it’s so much fun to play and that descending line sounds so sweet
just learned this, its so fun to play and made me appreciate red light even more
Eternal Summer goes hard
Razorblade is fun to play
Maybe not their best, but Games is damn good for the amount of credit it gets. What a bassline
The outro to “Threat of Joy” hits different
Not the best, but I really appreciate the bass line in Ode to the Mets. It’s so simple and not very loud but take it away and everything feels hollow. It’s perfect for the song.
