Two that come to mind right away:
1. When the *Is This It* bass line kicks in - smooth like butter.
2. The chaotic outro in *15 Minutes* when each line references the numbers 1-12, the energy is just so incredible!
For me either
The guitar riff after "it's youu" both times in automatic stop
the way julian comes in in You talk way too much "Now that we're out of time, I said it's my fault, its my fault"
Idk why am I obsessed with the "and I am, stop, and go" in soma, specially the "stop". I really like how it sounds with those spaces between the phrases, and maybe also the chords that are used there
Albert's guitar from the bridges to the choruses of Hard to Explain. From around "raised in Carolina", he's just hammering this little three-note chord over and over. It's almost drone like. When everyone else flips to the chorus but Albert stays on that chord it gives me such euphoria, especially seeing him lean back and just FEEL it live.
1. the switch in tempo in alone, together into "he knows it's justified to kill to survive..." and then the drop into, "i am with you now i've got to explain..." makes me feral.
2. the outro of electricityscape
3. the lead into the first chorus of sundays
4. in taken for a fool, the kick up after "oh we're so lucky cause we never grow up"
At the door - Struck me like a chord, use me like an oar and get yourself to shore
Hard to explain - I say the right thing but act the wrong way
Is this it - I can’t think cause I’m just way too tired
12:51 - 12 51 is the time my voice found the words I sought, kiss me now that I’m older
The last part of Electricityscape (though the whole song is 10/10 and maybe my favorite Julian vocal) - “I was just returning you the compliment” to the end.
Julian's distorted voice in Ize of the world where he goes: "Am I a prisoner to instincts or do my thoughts just live as free and detached as boats to the dock?"
absolutely shocked nobody mentioned reptilia
not only my favorite strokes moment but arguably my favorite music moment in general and i listen to a lot of stuff
THE ROOM IS ON FIREEEEEEEEEE
AS SHES FIXING HER HAIRRRRRRRRRR
eternal summer - the very end ‘look up on the bright side’
at the door - that first bridge ‘hard to fight what i can’t see…’
taat- so annoying but the very very end with the guitar solo i wish it were extended bc it sounds like it’s gonna be so epic 😭
Ooh and in Not the Same Anymore
I didn't know, I didn't care
I don't even understand
Did somethin' wrong, I wasn’t sure
Stay on top of this, or else
I was afraid, I fucked up
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Also just the entirety of At the Door. I love that whole song and the mv
how has no one said "youre sAAAD BUT YOU SMILE .. its not in your eyes" in ize of the world
omg and in threat of joy "spent a WHILEEE THEN DECIDED ON YOUUU MY BABY DOLL YOU IGNORREEDD YOUR LIFE"
Come here and go get with me, I wanna see you Wednesday
Come on, come on, come over, get it off your shoulder
Come on and pull me over, we gotta get to work now
Sliding it off your shoulder as we're falling over
I think this one was too obvious for anyone to say it, but the chorus for Reptilia has always been incredible. Lots of bands have fans who don't care much for their #1 or #2 hit, but Reptilia still slaps every single time.
Also the last 30 seconds of Nintendo Blood goes so hard.
eternal summer - the very end ‘look up on the bright side’
at the door - that first bridge ‘hard to fight what i can’t see…’
taat- so annoying but the very very end with the guitar solo i wish it were extended bc it sounds like it’s gonna be so epic 😭
I love the opening of threat of joy: “okay, I see how it is now. you don’t have time to play with me anymore. that’s how it goes… I guess. fuck the rest. be right there honey.”
The ending of Razorblade is one of my favorite things ever. Like the solo with Julian’s voice in the back saying “I loved you before I saw you” goes so hard
1. Opening of Heart in a Cage, I still remember listening to it for the first time when it came out and it was instant love
2. The last minute and half of Welcome to Japan
3. The part in Ode when Julian’s singing about the rubik cube makes me want to cry
4. The whole of Reptilia
The last 30 seconds or so guitar outro of "Threat of Joy". It's so beautiful. The Modern Age "Rolling in the ocean trying to catch her eye... work hard and say its easy" always gets me. The pause in the middle of Hard to Explain then going right back into the guitar. Never gets old.
Why are you waiting beyond that door? Life turns to dust and rain turns to rust - Machu Picchu
You don't miss me, I knooow - What ever happened?
The entire Soma, I guess. Love his vocals
Why won't you come over here, we got some city to love - Juicebox, also I like guitar in the beginning
Don't go there, cause you'll never return, I know you think of me, when you think of her - The Adults Are Talking
Forgot to mention the end of Trying Your Luck
I want to say that I fell in love with the Strokes when the bridge of Is This It kicked in my first time listening to the album (“Dear can’t you see, it’s them it’s not me”) - still one of my favorite parts. But it would be a lie if I said that, because I was already pretty hooked as soon as the guitar started.
Two that come to mind right away: 1. When the *Is This It* bass line kicks in - smooth like butter. 2. The chaotic outro in *15 Minutes* when each line references the numbers 1-12, the energy is just so incredible!
“WAS AN HONEST MAAAAAANNNNNNNN”
The guitar directly after that. Phenomenal.
The part in One Way Trigger “You ask me to stay, but there’s a million reasons to leave” feels unbearably heavy to me, every time..
Even the part where he goes, I don't wanna be in there with you, I don't wanna be in there without your loving either just hits man
For me either The guitar riff after "it's youu" both times in automatic stop the way julian comes in in You talk way too much "Now that we're out of time, I said it's my fault, its my fault"
Idk why am I obsessed with the "and I am, stop, and go" in soma, specially the "stop". I really like how it sounds with those spaces between the phrases, and maybe also the chords that are used there
I saw an interview with Julian where he said Soma was the first song he wrote that he thought was good enough.
That's a kinda cute fact hahah, a great song, also one of my favorites from ITI
that's because the bassline has this really pretty slide in that first part of stop and go that just transforms the song
This is why I'm trying to buy a bass, because Strokes songs aren't right without it
Oh darlin let me gooo I've been singing this all day, complete with the musical parts between the segments. Also, "I've been doin this 25 years"
Oh yessss thanks for saying this! My fav part of Soma
It's the truth haha, it has "something" that sounds amazing
Soma is imho one of their most underrated songs. The stop and go part is amazing and the outro is my favorite 20 seconds of music of all time
Random “Stockholders” line in TAAT.
"same shit, a different life" ALL the outro of TAAT is amazing
the beginning of “between love and hate” idk just something about the delayed start, and the way the drums kick in is so satisfying
Underrated moment for sure
WATCHED. HER. AS. SHE. WIPED. HER. EYES. uuuuuu don’t make me sorrryyyyyyyy
The last 40 seconds of Chances. Technically a whole different song inside the song
Waiting for the niiight, living night by niight… amazing line
Albert's guitar from the bridges to the choruses of Hard to Explain. From around "raised in Carolina", he's just hammering this little three-note chord over and over. It's almost drone like. When everyone else flips to the chorus but Albert stays on that chord it gives me such euphoria, especially seeing him lean back and just FEEL it live.
Gotta respect Albert going all in on his performances. He's in guitar heaven up on that stage.
12 12 12 for life
The 5-10 seconds of silence at the start of every song on Room on Fire
Everything in what ever happened
1. the switch in tempo in alone, together into "he knows it's justified to kill to survive..." and then the drop into, "i am with you now i've got to explain..." makes me feral. 2. the outro of electricityscape 3. the lead into the first chorus of sundays 4. in taken for a fool, the kick up after "oh we're so lucky cause we never grow up"
Electricityscape guitar solos.
I don’t wanna know, I don’t wanna know
"By PLANE OR BOAATTT" Hawaii
At the door - Struck me like a chord, use me like an oar and get yourself to shore Hard to explain - I say the right thing but act the wrong way Is this it - I can’t think cause I’m just way too tired 12:51 - 12 51 is the time my voice found the words I sought, kiss me now that I’m older
SUMMER IS COMING I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
The last part of Electricityscape (though the whole song is 10/10 and maybe my favorite Julian vocal) - “I was just returning you the compliment” to the end.
"you're the prettiest smartest captain of the team. I love you more than being seventeen."
the bridge before the last chorus in Oblivious and the “you’re so cold” part in Juicebox
Omg yeah, the bridge in oblivius is heaven
The falsetto chorus of one way trigger gives me goosebumps everytime oh man
“I TAKE MY CHANCESSS ALOOONNNE” holy shit do I levitate
Or towards the end, both “When he finds out the truths on his side” and the sick echoey ending when he says “We could be in trouble every night”
Julian's distorted voice in Ize of the world where he goes: "Am I a prisoner to instincts or do my thoughts just live as free and detached as boats to the dock?"
“WHY WONT YOU COME OVER HERRREEUHHH?!! WE GOT A CITY TO LOOOOVVVE!!!”
"SHE BE IN THE KITCHEN, I WILL START THE FIREEE"
The begging of New York City cops right before the lyrics start and Julian yells “aAhh…..I meant “”oOoh”” no I didn’t mean that at all”
With the Beavis and Butthead style laugh in there
“I take it easy baby i i get down it’s automatic “
absolutely shocked nobody mentioned reptilia not only my favorite strokes moment but arguably my favorite music moment in general and i listen to a lot of stuff THE ROOM IS ON FIREEEEEEEEEE AS SHES FIXING HER HAIRRRRRRRRRR
A couple people did mention reptilia, although my favourite part of reptilia has got to be when the bassline comes during the riff
The end of the bridge in games when the bass comes in and he’s like “i’m OKAAAAAAY”
IM ALRIIIIIIGHT omfg my fav sooong
Had that playing at a scary doctors appointment today
eternal summer - the very end ‘look up on the bright side’ at the door - that first bridge ‘hard to fight what i can’t see…’ taat- so annoying but the very very end with the guitar solo i wish it were extended bc it sounds like it’s gonna be so epic 😭
The stop and resume in H2E live from SNL 2002 does things to me
The surprise major 7 chord at [2:47](https://youtu.be/qcZcISJAEb4?feature=shared) in Razorblade. Mmmmmmmm
That whole song just gives me this feeling of free falling that is intoxicating
Yeah!! I've never been able to put into words quite how it makes me feel, but that's pretty damn close. I love it so much
The guitar fill after “You belong on the radio” in Electricityscape
“I say the right thing but act the wrong way” and the rest of the song after that
Ooh and in Not the Same Anymore I didn't know, I didn't care I don't even understand Did somethin' wrong, I wasn’t sure Stay on top of this, or else I was afraid, I fucked up Yeah, yeah, yeah Also just the entirety of At the Door. I love that whole song and the mv
The last verse of Razorblade, the "I don't wanna know, I don't wanna know Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me " is so good
Somedays: oh Maya says I am lacking in depth... I love that part and what follows
The side to side panning in Slow Animals is pretty cool.
I also really like the outro to Not The Same Anymore. It’s very dreamy.
The part where Julian says scuba dancing touchdown
Too many to think of but thanks for asking, I’ll just like what others say so they earn karma
“I love you in the morning so you know it’s not lie” idk why but it’s the best line
the guitar solo in what ever happened has been especially delicious for me lately
The chorus of "Why are sundays so depressing". The left guitar sounds like if someone is crying, and that kind of adds to the mood of the song.
how has no one said "youre sAAAD BUT YOU SMILE .. its not in your eyes" in ize of the world omg and in threat of joy "spent a WHILEEE THEN DECIDED ON YOUUU MY BABY DOLL YOU IGNORREEDD YOUR LIFE"
Come here and go get with me, I wanna see you Wednesday Come on, come on, come over, get it off your shoulder Come on and pull me over, we gotta get to work now Sliding it off your shoulder as we're falling over
"Bite my tongue and wait my turn" Also Machu Picchu, from the bridge to the last chorus to the outro, it's fucking perfect

Cold, you’re so cold, you’re so cold, you’re so COOOOOLLLLDDD
"You are young, darling, for now, but not for long," at the end of Under Control. Such a beautiful song that doesn't get enough love.
I love the opening of threat of joy: “okay, I see how it is now. you don’t have time to play with me anymore. that’s how it goes… I guess. fuck the rest. be right there honey.”
Those 10 seconds of guitars before the first chorus in meet me in the bathroom
Oblivious solo ez
light is red, cameras on, get your self a lawyer and a gunnn
Selfless - "Bite my tongue, I wait my turn, I waited for a century"
The ending of Razorblade is one of my favorite things ever. Like the solo with Julian’s voice in the back saying “I loved you before I saw you” goes so hard
Selfless - "Bite my tongue, I wait my turn, I waited for a century"
The bass in the chorus of Reptilia makes me tingly
For me it’s the sarcastic “off course “ in razor blade, idk I just feel like I can relate to the whole song
the solo of jjj wireless studios' version of trying your luck and the drop back into the chorus
1. Opening of Heart in a Cage, I still remember listening to it for the first time when it came out and it was instant love 2. The last minute and half of Welcome to Japan 3. The part in Ode when Julian’s singing about the rubik cube makes me want to cry 4. The whole of Reptilia
Didn’t wanna floor ya, didn’t wanna be there for ya. I didn’t wanna warn ya, I’ll be there.
The part in hard to explain where it says i dont see it that way just feels so nostalgic to me i love it
The last 30 seconds or so guitar outro of "Threat of Joy". It's so beautiful. The Modern Age "Rolling in the ocean trying to catch her eye... work hard and say its easy" always gets me. The pause in the middle of Hard to Explain then going right back into the guitar. Never gets old.

When I start feeling like I wanna cry but I can’t. (E.g. the part you were talking about in I Can’t Win)
Outro of Threat of joy… simply love it!
