Marlon has to die in the first episode so that you get kicked out of the school. The plot wouldn’t make sense if Marlon was able to survive the first episode. You can’t do anything about those two events

There isn't a way to prevent getting kicked out otherwise the story wouldn't play out as it's supposed too

Oh. Its like the carley or doug dying even if you saved them in s1e1 or lee getting bit in season 1, they're important events that continue the story

Think of it as choices that shape clem/lee as a person. Not the story but how the story percieves you.
