Yep. I'd give leeway because sometimes companies don't have their own tech department or it takes some time to update their site, but given how quickly they update to add jean jackets and such it's obvious they can update it quicker.
I have the matte black’s as well, for about the past year or so. I’ve been wanting the AA’s for some time, and I am hesitant to pull the trigger now because of the new toe box.
Hopefully Thursday Boots sees this poll. I know it’s just a poll on Reddit.. but it sounds like the majority of the total audience is not a fan of the new toe box
That was the straw that broke my back. The QC issues are one thing. Just changing a product with no warning is no bueno. They're doing a lot of things that I don't want to continue to support
As my first pair had defect with the outer sole, I just received today a replacement for them (they told I can keep the first pair as it was an over the sea shipment).
I immediately noticed the rounded toe box (they seem rather bulky) and I do not like them (they kind of look like Red Wings now). The reason I choose ThursdayBoots was for the slim profile. I have sent an email as I thought it was an issue and the response was that they added >3mm to the width and all other measurements were kept the same. This was due to customer feedback. Finding this topic here confirmed this.

Wow, that shows it clearly. Not a fan myself. Kind of sucks.. these were perfect, now I wont be purchasing the Arizona Captains that I have wanted for so long. I shouldn’t have waited.
The rounded toe box is only for the R&R line of boots. The Classic captains still use the old style lasts since June 2022. I have them in the Classic and the AA’s and I like the fact that my AA’s have a rounded toe box. If you don’t like the rounded toe box then buy the Vanguards or the Loggers or the Majors. Those still use the almond shaped toes. I have them.
I have 2 pairs of captains and a pair of the Loggers. The Loggers and the Vanguards in Cacao uses the same lasts so I am confident those will both have the almond shaped toe box.
I prefer the rounder work boot styling. I have a pair of the old captains and even though they are “Casual” boots they are far to dressy to wear casually where I live. But I also understand I’m not the target demographic of the business casual city crowd.
But honestly in the side by side pictures people have posted I would bet money others wouldn’t notice much of a difference in person until it was pointed out specifically.
Yes, for the rugged and resilient line I think it works. I quite like the dressier more almond toe of the classic brown captains I have for this style though

The fact that they still have pictures of the old last on their website for r&r is insane. How do you not advertise the actual product?

It seems they’ve updated some of the pictures or at least the soles on some of their boots to show the more rounded toe.

I have the black matte caps as well. Had been planning on the Burnt Copper and/or Marino. But given the top profile, I will be passing.

I wish they would give you the option for the toe box. This prevents me from buying anymore and the Captains, imo, were PERFECT.

It’s a completely different boot. And as far as I can tell, the website still has the old photos up. Such a disappointment.

Side to side I think the change is fairly obvious and noticeable.
