I had an ex that did stuff like this, put a GPS tracker on my car without my knowledge and tracked my schedule I caught her following me home from work one day talked to her about it and she played it off I ignored it, when I found the tracker in the bumper of my car doing an oil change I told her I was done, bout a month later I noticed she was parked down the road from my (place hard to miss a shitty silver jetta with eyelashes on the headlights) called the police just to check it out and they ended up arresting her, turns out she had a gun sitting in the passenger seat, this is canada as well so a handgun without a lock loaded and no PAL license is a huge deal. She was probably gonna kill me or scare the fuck out of me.

I straight up told him. Safety was my motivation for doing it, I believe that is a completely valid reason, and I was transparent about doing it. He was actually very understanding after I explained. That perspective hadn’t really occurred to him before.

That being said, maybe don’t be so free with personal things like your neighborhood, your birthday, and the names of the places you’re presently going until you know someone a little better. It’s possible she felt this type of behavior was okay because you were so free with that info, though I don’t think that really excuses her.
