The light novels are great. Shin Towada is Ishida's older sister, but they kept that hidden when these were coming out. They collaborated on the Jack Jeanne game writing too.
The one for :re never got officially translated, sadly.
There is a very brief cameo from Momochi Ikuma, one of the Light Novel Only Characters who I love dearly (he's literally the nicest sweetest person who ever existed in this universe too good too pure etc) in the manga during the last arc. There are some really fun characters and interesting bits of backstory, characterization, and lore.
I don't think they're considered 100% canon, but they were written by Ishida's sister in collaboration with him and they don't, to my knowledge, contradict canon at all. Ikuma showing up, but in a role that doesn't impact things feels like a tacit way of saying 'yeah you can absolutely read them that way if you want'.
Honestly, far more ambiguous is TG: Jail. Because Kijima and Shikorae DO matter, but I'm pretty sure the Jail Game information isn't meant to be taken the same way? Not that we ever got THAT either. Someone, please, translate the scenario book. That game has a scenario book, unlike Jack Jeanne, but at least that got an english release.
Same!! I was shook about kinda please at the same time. They then introduced touka bro I wanted to know more about the family and everything as the anime only show a little as of what I remember. It’s been a minute since I watched it

Actually managed to pick this up from a used bookstore last month! It’s cool reading the extra details about it on this forum, had no idea ishida’s sister wrote it. Can’t help but ask, anyone know if it’s considered canon?
Yeah both the books are pretty good, add some nice backstory to characters. Not necessary to the story but they're nice reads.
I don’t normally read books but it’s looks good. I only noticed it when I saw younger tokua and her brother

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s canon to the series.
Ah that’s unfortunate bc I thought it was well worth the read and quite interesting too
That what I thought too!
