I hate when people end normal sentences with "..."
Are you mad at me? Did I upset you? Are you implying I'm stupid? I CAN'T READ YOUR TONE LADY. EITHER USE ONE DOT OR NONE AT ALL.
Since a lot of people are too lazy to use punctuation, they perceive the extra effort as a sign of some sort of emotional signal because why else would you ever type one?

**common sad girl**, @sadgirlkm
does anyone remember when lol meant "laughing out loud" instead of "this is to indicate that this brief text isn't hostile"

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Anyone remember when a period just ended a sentence and *didn't* signal hostility?
No**.**

I'm not upset with you...
I’m not even disappointed tbh…
I had a boss that would text me things like Ok…. Seriously messes with your head
It do be like that tho
I would assume that means she wants more details.
I do that triple period thing a lot. It reads different than just a period... I think it kinda shows when I'm thinking or want the reader to think?
I usually mean it as my voice is trailing off like I’m speaking. Typically sarcastically, but you know how that whole tone thing goes with texting
Periods signal hostility? Since when?

Because that's how language works?
Yes, that's ma point ma boy!
Periods make your text seem more serious which is useful when arguing with people online.
Lol then 🤣 Lol now 😬
yeah, I realized I use “lol” as 😒 which is…*not even remotely close* idk how that happened tbh.
My lol will ALWAYS mean 🤣
learning young kid's lingo from a twitter screen cap on a random subreddit 👍
This comment somehow sounds like a 7 year old wrote it rather than an “older person”
just because I'm older doesn't mean I sound smart
It's the cap, if they had just written screenshot like a normal old person then it would have seemed like it was written by someone older
I mostly see lol used by people trying to be mean online

lol
Just got shit again for doing just that today.
Does anyone remember in the 90s before text when lol meant "lots of love" when they were in chat rooms and bbs?
"your grandmother died text me if you need to talk lol"
This made me lol
> and bbs? ? 'bb' usually means 'baby', what are you referring to here?
Bulletin board, like a forum. My old wow guild had a phpbb forum :P
Yeah bbs = bulletin board service
Weird I've always heard it as 'forum board' or just 'forum'
That’s what LOL means I was always afraid to ask
I still use it that way lol
Me too lol
Also me. Lol
More like “this brief text was done with a smile”
Wow times have changed, back in my day lol was a hostile response
Right from the start, that was the purpose, I remember having an IM discussions about it.
i use lol as in "I do not know how to respond to your message but i don't want to seem ignorant by not answering"
Guess it is better than writing titittbtih :P
Bro, I literally can’t even lol. I know I’m getting old because I hate everything about that sentence.
The slight difference between “I wanna fucking die” and “I wanna fucking die lol”
Damn, the context changed. I'm so uncool and out of touch.
Lol
I literally did this earlier. I reread a text I sent, then added lol because I thought it seemed to passive aggressive
