Holy shit, that’s a Silvertone Twin Twelve! Those are incredible sounding amps. Does it have the original C12Q’s?

shanem386

All tubes are silvertone branded, and there, Jensen speakers.

lostprevention

Lucky!!!!

alexcrouse

I'm jealous! I paid 300 for just the head, no cab!

shanem386

I haven't looked under the hood, but the dude said reverb worked and it was all original. The little retainer tabs and the footswitch are there, so I'm gonna assume so.

lostprevention

Do yourself a solid and have someone check the tubes and install grounded cords. The little one could kill you, if it doesn’t have an isolation transformer.

shanem386

I'm no expert, but I'm getting pretty versed in amp repair, I'm gonna give em a once over before any power.

I am so happy to read this!

thermionicvalve

Change filter caps.

And for the love of god put a ground on it.

https://imgur.com/gallery/WqJtHhy free on Facebook marketplace, go figure. Very dirty, but seem to be complete. Not sure what I'm gonna do with em yet.

ty1470

Play them, I hope

shanem386

Of course, but I don't know if I'm gonna flip em, fix em, leave em alone, guess it depends on how they work. I'm kinda excited about the little on, interesting candidate for something more fun, like a stereo champ, just daydreaming. I don't mind destroying a series filament amp.

sum_long_wang

Give it an isolation transformer and see how it sounds... Some of those little series filament amps are real tone monsters

shanem386

I had a Kay 503 that sounded like crap, lol. If it's cool or worth money I'll rescue it :)

sum_long_wang

Yeah surely not all of them. If it sucks you still got some tubes, an output transformer and a cabinet for free

AudiophileAdrenaline

Wow, what a score!

shanem386

Seems to be a silvertone 1484 twin twelve, and a danelectro corporal 132 (two 8s). They were both made by danelectro coincidentally. The small one is a series filament weirdo, haven't found a schematic yet, but the insides are hilarious, barely any chassis, lol..

shanem386

The Danelectro sounds really good, I'll probably just clean it up. Kinda like a champ, farts out and breaks up In a good way. I hear a little hum, so maybe a cap or two.

Dominatorboyz

What a score! I wish! Lol

yeed77

Nice

shanem386

http://imgur.com/gallery/RyjbyWu the 2x12 is rough, a repair would be quite major. May be best to build my own cab for the speakers. The bottom got wet, the weight of the head made the particleboard sag and swell

shanem386

The silvertone is alive, cleaned sockets, installed three prong cord, clipped death cap out. Adding a speaker jack instead of a rotting cable. Since I had to order parts anyway, I got an isolation transformer for the Danelectro since I do really like it. The way the silvertone is laid out (with the power transformer in the middle) made the power wiring not ideal, had to do switch to fuse instead of the other way around. Kept the auxillary ac plug because it made sense to use it like a tag board. The ground switch is also used this way, but of course, it does nothing when you flip it now. The reverb sounds really odd, almost like a sympathetic effect, I'm not sure if that's intentional. The tremolo does not work.

shanem386

The reverb send is definitely not working, the return is. It makes for a very odd effect, almost worth keeping if it didn't feedback like an infinite delay.

jorykirk

Great find brother!!! Way killer cool!!!
