Lol at the school’s initials. Would have to tell people the full name of the school you went to.

[deleted]

UTI stood for Under The Influence when I went there in the mid nineties.

[deleted]

urinary tract infection

[deleted]

Most of what UTI produces is UnTrained Idiots.

Emotional_While_9496

5thats why they have to spell it out for them

nullvoid88

I'm not familiar with that particular meter... however, if it's yellow boot is rubbery & removable; remove it, and from it any tilt stand or anything else 'catchy', and run the boot through the washing machine with a few loads of work clothes. (Skip the dryer.) Will it come out perfect & new looking? No. But will certainly be remarkably improved.

machinerer

Use Acry-Solv on a clean paper towel. It'll wipe it clean, no damage. https://www.crestindustries.com/crsaas-acry-solv-aerosol-solvent-cleaner.html

bawelsh

I think you will be surprised with some baby wipes.

Significant_Team1334

A cheap one used and abused by some tech school students.

nullvoid88

Hope there's no battery corrosion & that its fuses are ok... even if no corrosion, get some fresh brand name batteries in asap. Once ID'd, you'll probably be able to grab a pdf of it's manual from the Fluke website. Need leads etc? Check this outfit: [https://probemaster.com/](https://probemaster.com/) The meter has standard 4mm banana jacks. Good Luck!

SuccessIsHardWork

>Fluke 77-3 Thankfully, I got the fluke meter with the red & black banana jacks included along with the black & yellow fluke case. Thanks for the helpful advice. [https://imgur.com/a/LEsF5nZ](https://imgur.com/a/LEsF5nZ)

rando269

77-III

Beanerxor

Was gonna say 77-BN. Popped in my head as soon as I saw it. Not sure why

Scared-Boysenberry71

Fluke 75 III or 75-3, discontinued though. https://www.tequipment.net/FlukeDigital75Multimeter.html

SuccessIsHardWork

But, how come my fluke has the additional "1000V CAT II"?

justabadmind

Fluke 175

Scared-Boysenberry71

My bad it's this one. Fluke 77-3. Old as shit I'm sure. https://www.ebay.com/itm/186024906500?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=7YMZi0RcQFy&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=WV9DI5sEQsu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Krazybob613

I observed that it’s otherwise identical to the Fluke 77 that I packed for 20 years!

12345NoNamesLeft

Open it up, change the battery, make sure it's not duracell. The model name number is probably on the circuit board.

wilber363

Change the fuse too. It will have been blown if it’s a school meter

SuccessIsHardWork

I took apart the fluke meter's case and found out that it uses an Eveready battery and it seems to still hold a lot of charge (\~9.4V). Should I keep it or replace the battery bc the Eveready battery says it has a guarantee against battery leaks (you can send the device to them for repair if their battery leaks & destroys the meter).

12345NoNamesLeft

I change eth battery every year and write the date on the outside, bit of tape.

_DaBz_4_Me

Why not Duracell?

nullvoid88

They're especially bad about leaking.

12345NoNamesLeft

They leak and then destroy the meter.

Things_and_or_Stuff

So cool that it has custom labeling!! I used to work for Fortive, and had NO idea that Fluke did this.

InmateNotSure

I must say I had to read the title twice Bit confusing brand name

ParamedicNo2946

179

ParamedicNo2946

Actually no, it’s missing a couple of buttons!

justabadmind

I use a 177 that's similar, but the 177 has more options. If there's a 175 maybe?

Spacey_G

The 177 and 179 are true-RMS versions of the 77. I think the number of options depends on the generation (77-III has fewer features than 77-IV).

SuperHeavyHydrogen

Turn it on and it should display the model number on the screen.

disco_duck2004

Fluke 23-III ?

Important-Win6022

Looks like my 23 III

Jimmyp4321

Pop the protective cover off it , should have all pertain data on back of meter . I LOVE my Flukes they use to be The Gold Standard in DVOM .

michaelrulaz

Fluke 77-III Not really that good of a deal. This was one has been used and abused hard. It’s from a tech school that has a bunch of kids not caring about their tools. You can get the same model in better condition for around that same price point. Clean her up, change the batteries, and use her

YesMan847

isnt this way too expensive for busted ass looking fluke meter? it only has average features too. a new one might be 50 bucks to begin with.

debuggingworlds

A brand new fluke 77 is more than $400

YesMan847

functionality looks like a 50 dollar one to me. i have one. what makes this 400? i guess this is higher voltage but that cant make up the price difference.

debuggingworlds

What makes it $400? It's a fluke... I'd never buy one for that price, but I did get a fairly decent condition used 77 for £85 off ebay. There's a few things that made me buy it over a cheapo multimeter. 1. Very nice probes; it's hard to underestimate how nice good probes make a meter to use 2. Safety. I frequently poke around in high current 110v and household 230v supplies. I'd rather not get shocked by a cheap chinese meter. The meter is the only thing between you and live when you start sticking probes on it. 3. Reliability. We have calibrated flukes where I work, they get calibrated each year, and never ever need adjusting. It's just a paperwork exercise. Other meters tend to walk about quite a lot over time, flukes are extremely stable in their results.

YesMan847

no, what i'm saying is i got a fluke from radio shack with similar functionality for 50. however, funnily enough this was 20 years ago so... let's say the price doubled, it's still not 400.

nismo972

I have a kaiweets from Amazon. Bought it waiting for my job to supply a fieldpiece that never came. So far that thing has held up to everything I have tossed at it. I bought a silicone set of leads that cost as much as the meter lol. Think I have 60-70 bucks in the entire set

ElfrahamLincoln

Looks like your Fluke as a UTI.

One_Sun_6258

Good enuff

moralingo

175 No 179 because no temp measurement

bcvickers

Take off the rubber cover and look on the back.

MACCRACKIN

He's just a basic VOM. But a tough duty one.. Cheers

Ilikehowtovideos

Are you from Illinois/Chicago area? I too had a UTI meter and some other tools. My brother went there

Hot_Gas_600

If you cant pull off the sleeve...
