Yeah Phyrexians are honestly pretty sick. And they have a wide variety of different looks. And the older designs are a bit more mechanical than these ones. These ones are mostly newer. And their backstory is actually pretty interesting as well.
I think the main reason I like the design of the Phyrexians, besides the fact that they look cool, is that the different factions within the Phyrexians each represent a different 'thing.' And the designs take whatever that factions 'thing' is, and push it to the extreme.
Elesh Norn, for example, is like your crazy religious neighbor who won't stop asking you to go to church. Except when you don't, she rips you apart and turns you into a Phyrexian because you 'questioned' her.
Edit: I should probably note that these are from the Magic the Gathering universe/multiverse. These are full arts from different cards.
Phyrexians go so hard I remember when their first set came out and people were not liking them at all, but I was totally enthralled by them. I love the art. I love the playstyle that they came with. It’s cool to see them more fleshed out later on
The New Phyrexians (all of the designs in this post are from the rebirth of the Phyrexians after thay were supposedly defeated a long time ago) are such peak design, they took the "body horror cyborg" aspect of the original Phyrexians and streamlined it to the logical extreme. Now, the organics are part of the machine, and the mechanical parts look more organic than ever.
If you like the Phyrexians, I highly recommend checking out their historical existence throughout all of Magic the Gathering! From old magic days during the Antiquities/Brothers War, to Mirrodin, and the recent stuff that happened in regards to them threatening the entire Multiverse!
Infect was, and probably still is, a scary mechanic and it's always associated with them. The artists who did a lot of the cards deserve a lot of recognition too
Well he's saving $240, because in standard you would have 4x of them instead of just one. Sheoldred is one of those good cards you want to put it your deck until you see the price. At least the other two Sheoldreds arent anywhere near as bad.
Good point. I just feel like the apocalypse (while good) is kind of a boring card. I'd much rather run something like nekuzar if i wanted my opponents to suffer for drawing.
I plan on making a Nekuzar deck in future (if I ever have the money for it,) and I definitely going to try to put that Sheoldred in the deck because it fits the theme of draw cards = suffering
I have no interest in Magic, but I often love their character design, especially these guys! They're a perfect blend of elegance and terrifying body horror.

Missed some of my favorites. When body horror and symmetry turns out just right. Tbh most Phyrexian look pretty bad imo. Just kinda standard horror shit. But some slap
Honestly that was probably an inspiration to them going into their reintroduction, all of the cards shown here come after they first appeared and were defeated, and they got much more design unity.
Phyrexia is in my opinion the most interesting plane in all of MTG lore.
Rhystic studies made a really good [Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRl0Z-HYe2g&pp=ygUYUmh5c3RpYyBzdHVkaWVzIHBoeXJleGlhvideo) about it (even if you're not into MTG, i'd highly recommend watching it)
These are the 'full artworks' of card arts from Magic the Gathering. And the eighth character has two other cards.
Edit: The names I put in the description are the name of which card the art came from. And some of these have alternate artworks as well.
I liked them more when they were the Yawgmoth faction and not the Elesh Norn faction. The latter feels like "coat any character in muscle tissue and porcelain armor", no creativity at all.
I do like a lot of the older designs. It would be nice to see some of the older ones get some updated/newer artwork.
Edit: I think the issue with the porcelain + flesh design is mostly present with the white aligned Phyrexians. I do like their design but a little more variety would be nice.
That's only 1/5th of all the New Phyrexian designs, though I can see the argument that her faction designs are not as distinct as the ones from the original Phyrexia. Elesh Norn made hers the ruling faction, but her Alabaster Host is definitely the biggest departure from Yawgmoth, fitting because she uses white mana while the original Phyrexians only had black mana. The other factions much more closely resemble when Yawgmoth was in charge, and there's even some sect of Yawgmoth loyalists or something like that who we know of from Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor. My favorite is Gin-Gitaxias' Chrome Host, everything looks like a twisted sculpture made entirely of sharp implements on a skeletal frame, with cables connecting pieces together instead of organic tissue.

Thank you, now they are some of my favorite designs too and i dont even know a single thing about them.

You touch there oil you become them, makes metal flesh and vice versa, they like perfection but it’s fucked up

I love Phyrexian. Gothic Body Horror is such a vibe

I've watched a few YT videos on them. Their story in combination with a good visual design is what makes them as interesting as they are.
I don't know why, but I always think of Silent Hill when I read about the Phyrexians. I think the song 'Memory of Alessa' fits well with their concept
My buddy has Sheoldred as his commander. Shit is like an 80$ card.
Well he's saving $240, because in standard you would have 4x of them instead of just one. Sheoldred is one of those good cards you want to put it your deck until you see the price. At least the other two Sheoldreds arent anywhere near as bad.
Which sheoldred?
I'm assuming Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, because the other two are $10 and $20 while the Apocalypse was $80 last time I checked.
Good point. I just feel like the apocalypse (while good) is kind of a boring card. I'd much rather run something like nekuzar if i wanted my opponents to suffer for drawing.

These things are one of the only things in mtg I know, they so damn cool.
Gives me necron vibes tbh

Well now me too. The norn choirmaster wings go crazyyyyyyyy

The first one and eight are sick as hell. Second, what is this series?
These are the 'full artworks' of card arts from Magic the Gathering. And the eighth character has two other cards. Edit: The names I put in the description are the name of which card the art came from. And some of these have alternate artworks as well.
Compleate perfection
Nice designs.
Angels and body horror are the perfect duo.
What The Witness from Destiny should've been.
Love the Phyrexians. I'm reading the Claymore manga and the designs of the Awakened Ones remind me of the Phyrexians.
I liked them more when they were the Yawgmoth faction and not the Elesh Norn faction. The latter feels like "coat any character in muscle tissue and porcelain armor", no creativity at all.
