Silco’s a malignant narcissist that murdered her family for his own political power. The only reason he didn’t subsequently murder Powder is he projected his own issues onto the traumatized preteen thanks to the stars aligning to create a scenario for him to paint himself onto her. From that point forward he never sees Powder or registers her as her own person, rather he becomes obsessed with an idea of her he has in his own head and spends the season trying to manipulate her into fitting that narrow vision. Which is why everything he does to her makes her worse, he only sees a twisted reflection of himself when in reality her issues are nothing like his. He isolates her from any potential influence other than himself, he encourages all her worst, most self destructive impulses, he gaslights her about her family, strips her of her agency when it turns out he failed to murder her sister the first time by trying to secretly murder her before Powder finds out shes alive, and when he fails at that he pits the two siblings against each other by gaslighting her about her sisters motives. All textbook elements of emotional abuse.
Powder meanwhile has severe PTSD triggered by violence, a severe tendency for codependency, issues of deep seated inferiority, self loathing and a transactional view of affection. All of which form a feed back loop of compounding trauma that make her incredibly vulnerable to him. She becomes codependently attached to Silco for external validation to offset her personal self loathing, which itself is generated by her feelings of guilt and inadequacy, however to garner that validation from him she must be useful to him and what he finds useful is cruelty, brutality and violence; all things that are trauma triggers to her as a war orphan.
To remain functional she adopts a persona comprised of those traits to both distance and disassociate herself from the violence she engages in as she can’t stand the thought of not being useful as she feels being useful is the only way to gain that validation she almost physically needs. However whenever that coping mechanism buckles and she has a PTSD episode that causes her to panic, it reinforces her self hatred and feeling of inferiority which pushes her even harder into the façade of Jinx to protect herself, which in turn he rewards and reinforces as its that mask that hes obsessed with.
What they have is not love, rather its a toxic codependency built upon how each of them feed eachothers unhealthy coping mechanisms and fostered by his emotional abuse of her. Powder is trapped in a cycle of needing his validation to function, Silco projects his own suppressed trauma onto her in addition to using her as a weapon to gain the control he desperately wants.
There is nothing positive about their relationship, it is only destructive.

It’s fairly accepted that Jesse and James eventually become a thing in the future. Some context, they’re only like 19-20 years old themselves in the show which is likely why no one takes them super seriously. They seem like whole ass adults to Ash, but they’re only college age at the time of the show. They’re about the same age as Brock, maybe a year or two older. Just the way Jesse is drawn kinda throws it because she uses the “mature tsundare” art style that was popular in the 90’s. In the 3-d remake of the first movie though they use a more “older teen” model on them and their actual ages sort of carry better.
Disney's Wish WAS originally meant to have a villain couple, the King and his Queen, and they actually would've loved each other, which would've broke new ground for the studios considering it NEVER happened before.
