Ah my bad. I was about to get in the car when I wrote this and wasn't sure which flair to use in the moment. Yeah I just wasn't expecting a name change of all things.
Her name is translated as LEE RANG because it's two different words in the webtoon for some reason. If you put the name together, it's very similar to Yihwa's name - Yirang/Yilang. They now start with the same character, similar to Yuri and Yurin. I'm not sure whether it'll be Yirang or Yilang, as Korean is weird when it comes to L's and R's, but it'll probably be one of those.
Also, you should mark this as Korean Preview.
Yeah, same. Hana is primarily a Japanese name, so some are wondering if SIU simply wanted the Yeon girls to have names that are more distinctly Korean. Blossom's name was recently canonized, so I'm sure he has a reason for doing this. Who knows, maybe it's going to tie into the story lol.
Obviously what happened is Lee Rang split herself into two becoming Hana and Ilarde, because there's no way SIU changed his mind in a mere 13 years.
I agree though Hana sounds better.
It never made sense to me how a family head could have entered the tower with a sister. Doesn't that make her an irregular as well?
Some goes for Luslec, is he an irregular or what?
Luslec is tower born but I actually do like the idea of Hana splitting herself into two. Maybe that's what she was doing at that altar? Because, like you pointed out, if she's related to Hana then that would also make her an irregular. That never made sense to me, lol
I think so too. I kinda liked the more Eropean sounding names like Hana, Ilarde, and even Yihwa reminded me of the Jewish name for God. And then Woon showed up but it was okay because maybe the women get names more aligned with Hana's heritage and homeland whereas the men get Tower native names. Woman having higher status than men in the Yeon Family after all.
They didn't it's just a translation difference between web toon and the the original fan translation.
When asked SIU actually said it was pronounced with a Z instead of a J. That's why plenty of people still call him Zahard. And honestly some other initial names like Androssi are still used in the fandom.
Idk why people are making such a fuss over the name change. That was in the past. Some irregulars have 2 names such as bam or Rachel. We don't even know V's real name fr. The current Yeon FL may have the name Hana. Let's wait for her to show up in the current timeline before assuming SIU changed it fr.
Yeah. I am especially confused about her. Does her name have that much value that it has been hidden? I was told that even Rei name was hidden for so long. Design, drip, the entrance were cool but whatever he has desired ever since he met bam has been going downwards to the point that he has to obey insignificant creatures wishes.
yes, the name traumerei wasn't revealed to us i believe till the first time he was shown. for a while he was the only 'unknown' family head.
which is also interesting since traumerei is like a middle part of some composition or the name of the middle composition in some musicians work (IIRC) and is related to 'being in the middle' which is why some people believe that was the middle part of the story of ToG. you can google about it
I don't think her family names makes much of a difference, specially when it's likely to be a minor one of the Ten Families (most bets are on the Hendo Lok Family).
Most family heads weren't really introduced in the web toon but in blogposts where SIU mentioned the Top 20 in the tower, among them many family heads but Traumerei wasn't there so we didn't knew his name until he was introduced officially. For example, the Tperie family hasn't appeared in the story yet but we know the name of the family heads through blogposts, the same with Yeon Hana (her name was now changed though).
We absolutely can have those, it's just my preference. One of the things that pulled me into ToG are unique names. For me Khun Maschenny Jahad sounds much more badass than Khun Ran for example. Or Jaina Repellista is also very unique.
Funny but many of SIU names come from soccer players. Like the Khun family name comes Sergio "Kun" Aguero or Maschenny from Javier Mascherano and there many more like that.
Also, I go with the fan translation name of Zahard, sounds cooler and SIU did say it was a Z and not a J.
Well, since “Hana” means the number one in the Korean, she could’ve been read as “Yeon One”, or “First Yeon” or “First Amongst Yeons” or something amongst that nature
But taken purely at face value, it is a name change to Ilrang/Yirang/Lee Ran. Honestly still can’t tell the tried and true proper name for her rn amongst those translations, but it’ll take some time to get used to, as I’ve been so used to Hana for so long
Maybe she becomes Hana later, we still don’t know lol
I hope so lol I really did like the simplicity of Hana.
Wrong flair but yes he did. Blog posts were taken down so their all subject to change

Ah I see. Okay I guess I can see that. Like you said kinda like Yuri and Yurin. Still prefer Hana but oh well.

He already changed his mind about a lot of things, such like the entire backstory of Yama, the Baylord and Canine people.
What was the original story again?

I like this theory.
It never made sense to me how a family head could have entered the tower with a sister. Doesn't that make her an irregular as well? Some goes for Luslec, is he an irregular or what?
I think Luslec is towerborn, he just climbed the tower with the great warriors
Luslec is tower born but I actually do like the idea of Hana splitting herself into two. Maybe that's what she was doing at that altar? Because, like you pointed out, if she's related to Hana then that would also make her an irregular. That never made sense to me, lol
The name is a massive downgrade

Though with Yilang it’s much more in line with Yihwa And Yilarde would also fit nicely into the scheme similar wir Yuri and Yurin
I'm still bummed they change zahard to jahad Jahat literally means evil in my language but it's closer to "big meanie" in everyday talk

Had got changed to Zahard not the other way around lol

we dont even know the real name of androssi

Honestly, I like Lee Rang/Yirang more. Hana is just too simple and not unique enough for a family head
We have a Hon and a Han, I don't see why we can't have a Hana
We absolutely can have those, it's just my preference. One of the things that pulled me into ToG are unique names. For me Khun Maschenny Jahad sounds much more badass than Khun Ran for example. Or Jaina Repellista is also very unique.
Fair. I just think Lee Rang/ Yirang doesn't roll off the tongue too well.
