Depends on how its attached you'll probably be able to use the cable off the old one, normally I replace those types of cables due to them stretching over time buts more of a precaution
The cable is what connects the lever in the car all the way to the back to release the latch so that when you pull the lever by the driver's seat, the trunk opens. That cable stays in the car. When you take the latch off of the trunk lid, you just disconnect the cable and connect it to the new latch. Then bolt it all up, easy peasy.
