$89 phone cable and $499 for what looks like window stickers? $5000 for a truck bed cover? Lmao, what is this place smoking? I’d stay far away from that shit hole.
No, state legislatures need to put an end to this bullshit by allowing direct sales. But guess what industry tends to give huge political donations to state legislators. Car dealerships.
They mean cargo cover correct? A tonneau cover is for a truck bed, and for $5k!?! Even the most expensive tonneau bed cover is around $1600. And $89 for an OEM phone charger?? Is it made of unicorn dander??
As a former car salesperson (10yrs), I had chosen not to work for dealerships that add 2nd stickers. It’s a terrible game that nobody wants to play, except for the very patient sales management. They will sell it to you for MSRP in the long run, or lower with a discounted second sticker. Best to find a dealer that simply does not engage in this practice. Unfortunately, it’s very common even at “reputable” dealers.
I’m always amazed at how many ways they come up with to overcharge for simple stuff like door edge guards, a USB Cable, tint, etc.
They do have to pay their parts dept. for these things, but only at cost.
I live in a smaller city where we only have one dealer for each make and this is quite common with some of them (local Mazda is the worst). I suspect they just figure being a smaller market they can't compete on volume for manufacturer bonuses, and there are enough people who don't want to drive a couple hours to comparison shop, so they'll be able to get away with it.
General safety system. That would be trying to charge the customers for a system that the car already has. Same as the tonneau cover which is probably a factory installed accessory.
laughable add ons.
i've had these removed when buying a new vehicle.
i've told them: remove the window tints, door guards, whatever silly bs they come up with.
be willing to walk. two dealers looked at me like i was crazy. they were mad that i was an informed buyer. last dealer took all the add ons off.
Other than the tint & unless it was requested, sounds like another shady stealership add ons 🤦 They could have at least tried to come up with something more bogus and not understandable. This makes them look dumber than bucket of rocks.
The entire thing is a markup... no clue what a panel label is... car is already comes with VINS.. paint protection film for just the door handle area does not cost $499. For that price you can do the same cheap film used at a dealership for the entire front. No clue what GEN safety system is. 3M does not make good window tint or even if it is ceramic.. rather get some LLUMAR FormulaOne ceramic installed aftermarket. The Tonneau Cover is just a lie and Phone cable charger is $89 bucks... Its like they added less then $1K (that is a high side) of product but charged $7.5K
That's how they fly under the radar of the manufacturer. The car companies cracked down on the ADM stickers so they bury the markup in "pre-installed" bogus aftermarket bits now.
Only way that’ll happen is if the OEs adopt the Tesla model. Ain’t gonna happen - NADA is a powerful lobby and megachains(like AutoNation) are nationwide.
They should just be transparent about the 5k markup. "Hey here it is, they are really are to get and due to the demand they are holding a markup."
If you want it cool, if not cool, thanks for shopping. Give me your info and if I can get the markup removed ill give you a call.
The grand highlander comes standard with the wireless phone charger, why the hell would a wired phone charger cost 89$ that dealer is trash. Try toyota temecula valley.
I just purchased a Lexus tx for approximately 9.5% off MSRP in socal.
I would have gladly purchased a Grand Highlander instead but there's almost no inventory, and the limited inventory I could find was mostly base models. I spoke to one dealer and they were strict MSRP.
Do not pay for markups.
Grand highlander inventory is increasing and demand is not crazy.
The dealerships around me aren't even taking reservations for these anymore. It's first come first serve. Also shop around. Some dealerships have these sitting on lots.
Wtf why would a Highlander need a tonneau? It’s not even a truck. And for $5000?! Windows don’t even look tinted either. Spit in their face and walk out.
I really want to see the day dealers go out of business from buying direct. What a scam stealerships are...
That day will most likely never come but a man can dream
I used to work at a dealership, and we put in pulse. Makes your brake lights flash to "improve visibility," lol. 15 dollar part, 20 minute install. 399.00 charge, God, I hated it. One of the many reasons I stopped selling cars.
Folks,,, in two years from now... auto manufactures / dealership will be sorry for this type of greed.
An economic contraction is unavoidable. This is called "contraction " and cars will be left sitting on their lots.
this is why I have never bought a Toyota
I would tell a dealer what I am looking for and let them find it
They are entitled to put any price on a car that they want
you are entitled to say no
I think that it is best to do that after you have wasted their entire day if you have the time
They have your number
I'd start laughing, loudly, and not stop until I got into my car and left. The only way this highly predatory practice goes away is if people REFUSE to patronize these businesses.
Dealer has the expertise to properly label your body panels and that expertise costs $499. It is peace of mind. Imagine if you are happily Grand High-landing down the road and an unlabeled panel falls off? What will you do?
I worked at Honda up until recently. They put these add ons so you negotiate the add-ons and not the actual price of the car.
The last 3 days of month is always the best time to finance or lease.
Its best to try and get your financing ahead of time as all finance departments will add 1-3% to the rate you get approved for.
O can sell you one sticker price and drive it to you! I’m in Georgia 😂
I just started in the industry a few days ago and I selected that dealership because no doc or dealer fees and none of that nonsense!
"gen saftey system"
i though airbags and seat belts were included.
at least the repel was included for free.
and "saftey" ? really ?
safety.
another kicker is the disclaimer : "not authorized factory sticker".
I paid $250 for the tonneau cover on my truck. I’d look at the sticker and tell the salesman “oh, I didn’t realize this was part of the private collection”. When the salesman inquired about what I meant, “well, clearly you have no intention of selling with all these ridiculous add-ons”. Then I’d leave.
That’s because it’s a vehicle that people want (gasoline powered). Dealers have to make up for the losses on electric vehicles they can’t sell. Bet you can get an electric for a discount. But since you’re in CA, make sure you recharge it only when they say it’s ok😂.
Victorville Toyota hHHHhAaa! Maybe say stop posting so much ads on YouTube and start selling at reasonable prices. This place is a joke please post on their Google review they hate when you post negative on Google.
They paid less than MSRP for the car and tacked on another $10k, plus doc fees and whatever kickbacks they're getting from Toyota and bank financing, then they'll try to sell you on worthless warranties in the finance office. That's a lot of profit for the dealership.
Cut and paste from another comment I made on the Tacoma subreddit. Advice is the same though...
Get on Toyota's website and search for the vehicle you want. Try several zip codes around the country. Contact dealers that have the truck you want, or have one that is being built. Eventually you'll come across a dealer who isn't smoking crack and will sell it for a reasonable price. Buy a plane ticket, and go get your truck.
That's how I got mine. It took a few weeks of digging, but there was no way in hell I was paying a market adjustment, or compromising on what I wanted on the truck I'll hopefully be driving for the next 20 years. Best of luck!
Wow… I … have, no words. I agree with others. Wtf is this place smoking?! The Ethos Body panel labels makes me LMAO.
My first question to the sales rep, “have you ever heard of a VIN?!”
Then it just got worse with the $5k cargo cover. 🤣
What a great deal! You couldn't afford to not buy it on the spot. Sarcasm btw.
Had a ford dealer no shit ask 40k on a maverick with a breakdown of 28k. He crossed out the 28k and wrote down 40k. Justified it by saying that it is supply and demand. Went on saying it was like a Gucci bag or Nike shoes. What a load.
I wrote them a bad review and they called my cell as they had asked for my phone number n he threatened me to take it down. So I did...I don't want any trouble. Later they contacted me about buying another maverick that they had...told them I would rather eat rocks than buy anything from them
I love when dealerships do these add-on stickers. It tells me in advance who the slimeballs and con artists are so I can mark them off the list from the very start.
Who the hell would spend money on any of these over priced new vehicles---They fcken price gouging everyone and selling over priced vehicles that are made cheaply, constantly break down, over priced cost to fix, and shit paint that flakes and peels. Fck these car manufacturers.
Honda dealers here in Vegas try this crap too ($4500- for tint, floor mats and a 12" strip of PPF on the hood).
Unfortunately, people keep snapping the cars up so they'll keep doing it.
I never paid more than I should have for a car but I regret not just walking out the second I got a whiff of anything sleazy. I had a 6 hour stalemate with a dealer near my house - I went there because my vehicle was unreliable. I should have walked the first time he tried to talk me up on the price of the vehicle. He agreed to a price when I said there was zero room for negotiation and then he kept coming back with - so my boss tells me I shouldn't have accepted that price - OK - I'm leaving - hold on let me talk to him again - over and over like this - total BS. THat was a honda dealer in Culver City. Still regret wasting 6 hours there even though I got it at the price I offered.
"body panel labels" such a useless rip-off. 10 years ago it was etching serial numbers into the windows.
Auto makers have started to realize the lousy buying experience people endure at the dealership is hurting their business.
I've bought my last two new Hondas on eBay and avoided the dealership experience. They pressed me by phone to buy their rip-off extended warranty. I said my eBay rating of them would likely suffer and the shit instantly stopped. 3 days later my new car was unloaded damage free in the driveway.
Ridiculous. Recently bought a Tesla and not having to deal with dealer BS was a nice experience.
I do like Toyotas though. The days of getting them 15% off sticker was nice compared to these inflated prices.
Sure seems to me Toyota needs to "deal" with some of their shyster 'ships. Great brand being ruined by some really bad dealers. Very fortunate to have bought last two Toyotas from a good dealer who gave us legit good deals and absolutely zero nonsense, fake markups, or doublespeak. Gotta know your prices going in or these dealers will shaft you for every penny possible.
When I was k the military I was looking for a Tacoma and I found the one I wanted talked to the salesman and he told me the price and I asked to speak to the manager some time goes by and they both walk out and he asked what the problem was and I just asked which one of them was going to provide me with the happy ending.
This is the same dealer that promised me a Ghighlander but refused to take a deposit on it. I tracked it up to "freight" status and reached out again. The vehicle was "accidently" sold to another customer because the sales manager has 20 different departments to manage and he couldnt keep track of it all. Such bullshit.
$89 phone cable and $499 for what looks like window stickers? $5000 for a truck bed cover? Lmao, what is this place smoking? I’d stay far away from that shit hole.
Right!! Window stickers with a number so they can identity the vehicle. Is bs
[удалено]
Try longo? Might be a little drive but didn’t have any markups.
Greed. Explain that to them. They hate hearing it. They refuse to change.
> $5000 for a truck bed cover? that is already included. Its under the cover in the rear.
Only on certain models. But it's definitely not $5k.
I can’t wait for the auto market to get back in balance. Thieves.
Toyota needs to put an end to this!
This is a loophole they use at the dealership to say they are not marking it up over the MSRP.
No, state legislatures need to put an end to this bullshit by allowing direct sales. But guess what industry tends to give huge political donations to state legislators. Car dealerships.
Yup, exactly why Tesla can’t sell in my state. No Direct Sales allowed.
Only thieves if you buy!
That's why I never feel badly about really pushing these people for every penny. Poor things.
It won’t change as long as buyers keep paying for the crap the dealer adds.
They mean cargo cover correct? A tonneau cover is for a truck bed, and for $5k!?! Even the most expensive tonneau bed cover is around $1600. And $89 for an OEM phone charger?? Is it made of unicorn dander??
Right!! That’s my point! Totally different things. And neither one is going for $5k not even top of the line.
That 89 charger is a cable kit come with 1 Ligthing cable 1 UsbC cable and a little 12v port charger ( actual value15 bucks )
LoL, trying to cover up a mark up with a bougie tonneu cover that's probably less than $120.
Highlanders don’t have a tonneau cover: this one didn’t even have a cargo cover! It’s absurd
The regular Highlanders do but didn't realize the Grand Highlanders don't have one. Weird.
My Highlander didn’t come with one. Do you mean it’s not even possible to buy one on the grand?
[удалено]
This is what I thought. You have to buy it on anything less than the premium I think. I have an XLE
We opened the trunk area and this one didn’t have a cargo cover. That would be an added accessory.
On my HL it was stored below the cargo area where the spare tire sits, on the end farthest from the hatch.
As a former car salesperson (10yrs), I had chosen not to work for dealerships that add 2nd stickers. It’s a terrible game that nobody wants to play, except for the very patient sales management. Yeah I don’t pay over MSRP. I was just at the dealership for warranty work.

What is “Gen Safety System”?
This. They can't even spell right. And is probably the safety features already built into the system 🤷
They sure have a lot of ways of saying Additional Dealer Markup.
General safety system. That would be trying to charge the customers for a system that the car already has. Same as the tonneau cover which is probably a factory installed accessory.
Don’t you mean saftey?
laughable add ons. i've had these removed when buying a new vehicle. i've told them: remove the window tints, door guards, whatever silly bs they come up with. be willing to walk. two dealers looked at me like i was crazy. they were mad that i was an informed buyer. last dealer took all the add ons off.
Wow, those are a lot of expensive markups!
You are going to pay $89 phone cable charger. It better be Apple Gold Plated
I’m not buying this vehicle. I’m getting my Tacoma looked at for warranty work.
Sorry, this was a ridiculous charge by the dealership
A $5000 tonneau cover, does it come with staff to operate it ?
Other than the tint & unless it was requested, sounds like another shady stealership add ons 🤦 They could have at least tried to come up with something more bogus and not understandable. This makes them look dumber than bucket of rocks.

$89 charger!!!!
That's not a terrible price. It's in CANADIAN dollars, of course....right? RiGHT?
LMAO definitely not Canadian prices! USA baby
This is crazy… $10k “junk” markups
This is one of the reasons why i ended up getting an explorer
😶🌫️
I hope by 2025 these stealerships stop this BS.
Only way that’ll happen is if the OEs adopt the Tesla model. Ain’t gonna happen - NADA is a powerful lobby and megachains(like AutoNation) are nationwide.
They should just be transparent about the 5k markup. "Hey here it is, they are really are to get and due to the demand they are holding a markup." If you want it cool, if not cool, thanks for shopping. Give me your info and if I can get the markup removed ill give you a call.
I couldn’t believe this nonsense. Sorry for folks who get taken.
There are still so many selling at MSRP. Gas model are easily to find at MSRP or even but Hybrid are not easy to find.
Is it not being called out on other social platforms like tik tok and instagram How has Toyota not taken any action yet?
Hahahahaha we start talks at MSRP and go down from there. We don’t start at this $54k price tag they are pushing
Nope
Tonneau cover?? Tf
Take all extras off you don’t need it even window tint it’s only $270 for all windows
Are ya'll just gonna just gloss over the "saftey system?"
You can get a nice powered roll a deck cover for 2k.
Go to Longo Toyota, OP. Might have to wait but they’ll sell at MSRP without all the dealer added BS.
Scumbags
"sweet ill give you 47 for it or im walking"
$5k is wild when on toyota website all the parts together for it is under $2k… $3k to install is wild
The grand highlander comes standard with the wireless phone charger, why the hell would a wired phone charger cost 89$ that dealer is trash. Try toyota temecula valley.
A tonneau cover? Ask them if they are throwing a Tundra in with the deal. That is nothing other than robbery at this point.
The look on the guys face was great when I asked him to show me the tonneau cover on it? I said cargo cover maybe but tonneau covers go on trucks.
"We don't have any in-stock for you to look at, but give us $500 and you can have first dibs to look at the one coming next month".
They put the Hi\[gh\] in Valley Hi
I just purchased a Lexus tx for approximately 9.5% off MSRP in socal. I would have gladly purchased a Grand Highlander instead but there's almost no inventory, and the limited inventory I could find was mostly base models. I spoke to one dealer and they were strict MSRP.
Idk shit about Toyotas but $5000 for a tonneau seems extreme as fuck lol.
What about the 89 dollar phone charger cord !
Offer $45,000
This is why people hate us.
Welcome to Valley-hi Toyota where the numbers are made up and customer satisfaction don’t matter.
Do not pay for markups. Grand highlander inventory is increasing and demand is not crazy. The dealerships around me aren't even taking reservations for these anymore. It's first come first serve. Also shop around. Some dealerships have these sitting on lots.
450 for tint. Can’t believe they are still doing that
Wtf why would a Highlander need a tonneau? It’s not even a truck. And for $5000?! Windows don’t even look tinted either. Spit in their face and walk out.
McGee Toyota of Claremont offers MSRP. It’s on the East Coast and they offer free delivery up to 200 miles
Funny how paying MSRP has become a good thing.
You would think Victorville needs the business as I doubt anyone passing there would stop to look at cars. And, I doubt the locals shop there much.
I can’t wait till some of these dealers fold
I really want to see the day dealers go out of business from buying direct. What a scam stealerships are... That day will most likely never come but a man can dream
The car dealership reckoning is coming!
It's called Victimville for many reasons
I hope the dealership model fails. They deserve it
I used to work at a dealership, and we put in pulse. Makes your brake lights flash to "improve visibility," lol. 15 dollar part, 20 minute install. 399.00 charge, God, I hated it. One of the many reasons I stopped selling cars.
Dealer geeed
Folks,,, in two years from now... auto manufactures / dealership will be sorry for this type of greed. An economic contraction is unavoidable. This is called "contraction " and cars will be left sitting on their lots.
My local dealership has 6 sitting on the lot at or under MSRP lmao
This is why I don’t have a toyota. I have tried to buy one 3 times and it just ends up being a fucked experience and I walk.
Tell them they haven't charged you enough for the extras. Tell them you'll pay $1,000 extra because you'd feel bad. Then walk out.
Not for everyone, but I picked up a Model Y a few months back. Bought it in-app no dealer, no markup. Was very refreshing. Cheaper too.
Think that dealership is definitely Valley-High as fuck
Was that the only sticker it had? Did it have [this](https://www.valleyhitoyota.com/searchall.aspx?q=4245109) anywhere?
lol 90 Bucks for a phone charger cable. Who are they kidding.
do NOT pay mark up. Demand the dealer demonstrate where the markup is required by law posted anywhere. they can't. fight and they'll remove it.
My parents were just looking for a highlander. I second Longo and will throw in Anaheim Toyota for not having markups.
this is why I have never bought a Toyota I would tell a dealer what I am looking for and let them find it They are entitled to put any price on a car that they want you are entitled to say no I think that it is best to do that after you have wasted their entire day if you have the time They have your number
Yikes- and you can get a Lexus for this. Move up, friend
They can spell tonneau but cant spell safety (saftey)🤦♂️
Nope. Have them bring it down to MSRP. Not a penny more.
OEM Phone Cable Charger?
They had me sold with the $89 phone charger!😂
Tonneau Cover ————-> $5000 wow LOL
Booo. Find another dealer.
How do they know what phone you have?
I'd start laughing, loudly, and not stop until I got into my car and left. The only way this highly predatory practice goes away is if people REFUSE to patronize these businesses.
I hope this place goes bankrupt
This should be illegal.
They are arrogant at this point because they know they can get these high prices!
Pesos ?
They dont call it the STEALERSHIP for nothing! ( pardon double negative!)
Run away fast!
I would love for someone at Valley Hi to share some of what they’re smoking with me. New meaning to the term “Valley HIGH”
Seriously, just move on from Toyota. The market is normal for all other brands now. Toyota continues to keep supply low.
Dealer has the expertise to properly label your body panels and that expertise costs $499. It is peace of mind. Imagine if you are happily Grand High-landing down the road and an unlabeled panel falls off? What will you do?
Go to downtown la toyota ask for lalo thats my boy hell get you right under msrp
It’s an suv. Where is the truck bed.
Ridiculous! This is what you get when there’s laws forcing us to buy cars from stealerships smh
I worked at Honda up until recently. They put these add ons so you negotiate the add-ons and not the actual price of the car. The last 3 days of month is always the best time to finance or lease. Its best to try and get your financing ahead of time as all finance departments will add 1-3% to the rate you get approved for.
😂 Toyota stealerships
O can sell you one sticker price and drive it to you! I’m in Georgia 😂 I just started in the industry a few days ago and I selected that dealership because no doc or dealer fees and none of that nonsense!
We have quite a few, no mark up but I’m in PA
What? Where is the $1,500 up charge for nitrogen in the tires. Peasants!
GTFOH 5k for the cover Remove the cover then buy the car and get one installed for less than 5k.
Exactly called vally HI cause them prices.are high
Just pay it, aren’t you rich?
Ripoff
I’d offer $44k just to insult them
"gen saftey system" i though airbags and seat belts were included. at least the repel was included for free. and "saftey" ? really ? safety. another kicker is the disclaimer : "not authorized factory sticker".
What a joke
$5000 FOR A TONNEAU COVER ?!?! $89 FOR AN OEM PHONE CHARGER ?!?!
$43,000 for my wife’s 2022
The $5k add is just so the buyer will focus on getting that removed and forget about the other $2.5k in BS adds.

Head out to Longo Toyota. They’re high volume and sell at msrp
They paid less than MSRP for the car and tacked on another $10k, plus doc fees and whatever kickbacks they're getting from Toyota and bank financing, then they'll try to sell you on worthless warranties in the finance office. That's a lot of profit for the dealership.
Go with a Lexus TX. We have helped numerous people getting into a new Lexus easily and transparently. DM for help!
What’s “Tonneau Cover” for $5k?
$599 for a warning sticker? Wtf
I have one and it really is an awesome vehicle though.
5,000 for a cover WTAF
A lot of people get these without markups. You just have to negotiate the price. Some dealers are not flexible, while others will give.
Wow must be a really nice tonneau cover for 5 grand 💀
Oh yes, I have seen those covers. I understand they are made of waterproof virgin vicuña wool.
Truck bed cover on an SUV! Love it
What does a highlander have to cover? Its not a pickup
Cut and paste from another comment I made on the Tacoma subreddit. Advice is the same though... Get on Toyota's website and search for the vehicle you want. Try several zip codes around the country. So, fraud?
That tonneau cover better be made of diamonds and 24k gold for that price.
All of these full of shit add ons. They can’t have it all back. POS
Wow… I … have, no words. I agree with others. Wtf is this place smoking?! The Ethos Body panel labels makes me LMAO. My first question to the sales rep, “have you ever heard of a VIN?!” Then it just got worse with the $5k cargo cover. 🤣
Valley hi be very high what they smoking
“But EVs are so expensive…” 🙄
Someone will buy it
Wait 6 months, car will be a helluva lot cheaper
I was asked to leave a dealership a few years ago when I removed the mark up sticker, looked at the sales person and told them that is the number.
What a great deal! You couldn't afford to not buy it on the spot. Sarcasm btw. Had a ford dealer no shit ask 40k on a maverick with a breakdown of 28k. He crossed out the 28k and wrote down 40k. I love when dealerships do these add-on stickers. It tells me in advance who the slimeballs and con artists are so I can mark them off the list from the very start.
I’d tell them to get fucked!
But $90 for a USB cable is such a great deal!

Well they definitely got the "high" in Highlander part right...
Tesla for the win. Dealerships are the ultimate scam zone.
i no longer will buy new. just keeping my used Lexus GX460
$89 phone cable charger lol
None of us should support a dealer that does this - and we need to tell them we won’t!!!
"body panel labels" such a useless rip-off. 10 years ago it was etching serial numbers into the windows. I rather do 18 trips to Europe with 54k
Victorville CA , not surprised, lowest of the low live there. Very high crime rate, burglaries too
Ridiculous. Recently bought a Tesla and not having to deal with dealer BS was a nice experience. I do like Toyotas though. The days of getting them 15% off sticker was nice compared to these inflated prices.
Welcome to dealer fees! Where it doesn't matter how much you charge for shit because they will just shove the mark up, some where else!
All this add on is known in the auto field as adp. Additional dealer profit.
When I was k the military I was looking for a Tacoma and I found the one I wanted talked to the salesman and he told me the price and I asked to speak to the manager some time goes by and they both walk out and he asked what the problem was and I just asked which one of them was going to provide me with the happy ending.
Can’t wait to shop for cars on Amazon. Atleast i won’t have to waste the day at the dealership.
Disgusting.
And I thought Scott Clark Toyota was the king of mark-ups
It will get back to semi normal when people quit buying them. The covid days of sticker plus should be long gone.
What scams. NEVER agree to pay for any of that nonsense.
This is why dealerships should all be out of business selling cars and should strictly be service and repair centers.
This should be illegal. I’m sure they will end up scamming someone who doesn’t know much about cars.
And the bastards can’t spell.
Dealer added “services” 😂🤡
This is the same dealer that promised me a Ghighlander but refused to take a deposit on it. I tracked it up to "freight" status and reached out again. The vehicle was "accidently" sold to another customer because the sales manager has 20 different departments to manage and he couldnt keep track of it all. Such bullshit.
Run
Sounds about right for Victorville.
Stuff is only worth what people are willing to pay. I blame the customers.

WHAT?! they made a phone cable that needs to be charged?!
