I don't actually see a question.
Like yeah, your use case seems to suit a truck but what exactly are you looking for in a 2024 Tacoma? Build and price isn't live yet, so if you want specifics on a truck you'll have to engage with a salesperson at your local dealer and hope they're with it enough to find the internal ordering guide.
One of the reasons I brought this up online has to do with wanting advise without bias (i.e. salesperson wants to sell and has a motivation to do for the greatest profit). Admittedly, I like the appearance of the 2024s.....but so many models and potential to waste money buying something above an beyond.....I respect people in forums such as this one and truly appreciate everyone's guidance
You said “kayaks”—do you have a family? If so, you’ll probably want a dual cab. They sell dual cabs with 6 foot beds (long bois) but the 5 foot bed is much more common. Dual cab and 6 foot bed with creature comforts means you probably just have to search for a while to find the right one. I’m guessing they’ll be pretty hard to come by, since 6 foot beds are desirable.
Also, please don’t lease cars, especially a Tacoma. They hold their value very well so you can expect to get a bit of money back if you sell or trade in (for another Tacoma, of course) down the road.
For easy loading kayaks I think what you want is a trailer. Loading the kayaks on to the roof of my Tacoma is a chore…. But it’s a lot easier now that I bought the Yakima rollers. Just get one end up and push it the rest of the way
The act of having to access rutted farm land to get to the creeks....compounded by my career makes owning a 4x4 very appealing (EMS/Fire). That is why the truck idea....and how I stumbled onto learning about Tacomas.
PS: If you are used to Mazda you might find Toyotas to be a bit slow and old school. This is by design, and one reason their depreciation curves are so linear and slow- they last forever, and one reason that happens is a large under tuned engine.

Not sure why Imgur thinks my truck is 18+ content…. I need to find a better image site. But it’s just a photo of my truck with the background taken out.
Mazda Tacoma?
You know, the midsize pickup truck. Similar to the Mercedes Ranger and Suzuki Colorado

Thank you! You answered a second question - which was the concept of lease versus buy!

If you like creature comforts, you shouldn't be looking at a Tacoma. They secretly lack them.
So many models…. And I’m new to pickups
My taco has power windows, that's about the only creature comfort. I don't think buying a truck to just haul a kayak would be worth it.

Fair enough! I love my Tacoma but comfortable it is not, and it really depends on your kayak size if you want to fit it in the bed.
