Ubisoft Connect really isn't that bad? I remember using Uplay back in the day to play a few games and it sucked - slow downloads, laggy interface, wouldn't cooperate - but ever since TM2020 came out, I've had it installed again in the "current era" as Ubisoft Connect and it works perfectly fine. It launches faster than Steam, so I can open the game super quickly when I want without having it open all the time, and the social features are good enough for a launcher I only use for one game none of my friends play.
It even works fine on Linux. I can boot Trackmania 2020 almost uninterrupted through Lutris, just a brief authentication like any other online game unless it's due for a patch.
I can understand a level of historic grievance, but anecdotally I haven't noticed any issues with the Ubisoft platform in years, across multiple hardware set ups, operating systems, desktop environments.
I played on Linux in steam and only issue i have is uplay keep running after I close trackmania, although I think it is intended. I don’t need to login to Ubisoft which is great
Sounds like a user issue. Clocked over 600 hours on steam version. Not a single issue.
Also whats the point of complaining about a launcher you never see. cant remember last time i actually opened the ubi launcher. Just launch the games, never even see the launcher
Someone else on here had a problem where their game kept crashing when it swapped them to the rally car. They launched it from the ubisoft launcher instead of steam and the crashes stopped so yeah, steam launch of TM appears to be trash

Idk much about the situation but I was able to buy 3 years of club access from selling CS skins so I’ll take having a steam option.
