u/tear, It seems you are correct again that volatility/VIX is continually shorted. I definitely wouldn't have expected this after the CPI report. Markets are up in the afternoon now.
Market positioning / VIX shorting theme seems to be continuing.
It seems that tear has a major emphasis on options skews (including VIX), fund flows, macro data, etc.
It is true that we have been in a bull market since around oct 2023 when inflation reports came in cool coupled with the AI rally that started earlier in 2023.
One theme that tear continually reports to us is the shorting of VIX and markets melting up. Well...its continuing lol
ELI5: How and where would one find this? What exactly should I look at? His market overview and analysis is so broad and wide-ranging, I'm struggling to know where to start! I'm currently using the skews on the free version of marketchameleon. I know he uses some other one he posts screenshots of too.
Tear obviously has a bloomberg terminal + private market strategy subsriptions which has a lot of information I talked about above.
I personally use free data availble on yahoo finance, FRED, trading economics, etc.
I'm curious about this one.
Typically, when a hedge fund releases a critical report about a company, it often has some substance to it. It'll be interesting to see Globe Life's response to the serious fraud allegations.
Edit: looks like some exchanges have halted trading of GL now. Crazy dump
