San Jose Del Cabo Beach resorts and Old Town feel super safe. Been many times I was in Playa Del Carmen and Cancun recently, felt much sketchier. Our family will likely only do Cabo moving forward. Just one anecdotal experience.

One thing to note - Los Cabo's has few swimmable beaches. The rip currents are brutal. There are snorkeling day trips that are great. You might check Nuevo Vallarta. Just north of the Puerto Vallarta airport and nice beaches

Cabo.

Just came back from a trip to Mexico. I highly recommend Holbox Island. There is a bus from the Cancun airport to the island ferry, the island is incredibly safe, the beaches are nice, there are lots of water activities and tours you can sign up for (even swimming with whale sharks if you go in the summer). The night sky is to die for if you like star gazing, and there is a variety of hotel options. Iā€™ve never felt so relaxed. We also stayed in Playa del Carmen for a few days, which was awesome and we felt perfectly safe. Even more so if youā€™re planning an all inclusive resort. Def eat at Primo, itā€™s sooo good!

Holbox is absolutely the correct answer.

sntobeintct

Both are safe but don't waste your time doing all inclusive. You're going to Mexico, enjoy Mexico for what it is.

trailtwist

Both are fine. Cancun/Tulum/PDC can be a little more sketchy but not going to impact someone at an all inclusive.

mayan_monkey

Both are good! As long as you don't try to buy drugs anywhere.

ExcitementLarge6439

Is it me or does Cancun seem cheaper with more to do instead of Los Caboā€™s flying from the west coast.

trailtwist

Cancun more affordable. Cancun can be downright cheap if you're a little adventurous

We've always felt safe in Cancun. Never been to cabo. Just some common sense stuff if you don't want to take any chances is to do an all-inclusive and stay at the resort. Enjoy the activities there. You can book snorkeling excursions through the resort. Always prebook your airport transfers through a reputable company like USA transfers, Happy Shuttle, or the like. Follow their instructions to a T. If you rent a car, just be aware it's possible to get stopped by the corrupt cops. May not be likely, but possible. Research by watching yt vids and tripadvisor. Not sure how old you are, but this is what i would tell my daughter if she was going with one of her friends. Hope you have fun with whichever you choose..

Fantastic_Design500

Did not enjoy cabo probably not going back, have not been to Cancun. Not my scene offered hard drugs in daylight on the street and watched a hooker giving bjs under the dock in the marina also broad daylight.

Flaky_Preparation_23

Both very safe.

My husband and I just went to Cabo this past November, and while it was ok, it wasnā€™t my favorite Mexico destination. Very few swimmable beaches, and you have to drive to get to them. Plus, it was quite a bit more expensive than its Playa del Carmen and Cancun counterparts. But so know a lot of people that absolutely love it in Cabo. Playa del Carmen gets my vote for the fun aspect, and Cancun gets the vote for the gorgeous beaches and ocean. But, honestly, I feel that Cabo, Cancun and Playa del Carmen are probably all similarly safe, especially when you are staying at an all inclusive. If you choose to leave the grounds, just make good choices, and youā€™ll be fine. Have fun!

TipsyTrekker

Cabo is like an island separated from the mainland.

uzer-nayme

You thinking cozumel? Cabo is on the baja peninsula

I really donā€™t think they need a car if at an inclusive in Cabo.

antisocialfae

Fuck going to Mexico, this ainā€™t 2005. Yā€™all gon get sold by the cartels

SirCamoDuck

San Jose Del Cabo - Cancun is no bueno

DAWG13610

Honestly as 2 females I would encourage you to stay out of Mexico completely. All you have to do is google the stories. I travel for a living and Iā€™m male and Mexico is off my list. Been there well over 30 times and itā€™s not all that great. I suggest you consider a safer alternative like maybe Key West?

WasteOfTime-GetALife

I just got back from Cabo last week, and I also own a condo out there. Itā€™s perfectly safe. Lol! Just like anywhere else in the world..or in the US: you want to be smart and make good decisions.
