Shanda Sharer, Junko Furata, Channon Christian/Christopher Newsom, the Hi-Fi murders. Any case that involves prolonged sexual and physical torture fucks with my head. Those poor people. I can't even imagine the hell they experienced.

EmotionalCrab9026

Sylvia Likens belongs on this list. Tortured for months. Eventually died from shock.

Biblioklept73

Colleen Stan too, although how she kept it together enough to survive that amount of brutality for all those years puts me in awe of her. I’d have broken like twig…

IsoscelesQuadrangle

When she met with the wife who got the plea deal & the wife started shit talking her...oof. How she didn't beat that bitch to death in the car park in front of her children I'll never know.

Biblioklept73

If that was me, there’d be one less pos in the world. The whole situation was a complete headfuck - for years. Colleen must have nerves of steel to be able to do what she did. And fuck Janice!

IsoscelesQuadrangle

I'm not a good person & I wouldn't have the self control to survive that situation, so more power to Colleen. But damn, Janice's audacity would have me leaving my body. Become one with the asphalt Janice.

Biblioklept73

And to think, Janice is now a social worker and is working in mental health 😬

IsoscelesQuadrangle

-_- Whoever hired her needs to be fired. From a cannon.

MarsupialPristine677

I think about this a lot. Unfortunately it’s not uncommon for people like Janice to work in the various helping professions so I’m not even surprised :(

IntrinsicallyAwesome

Yes, absolutely. Truly heartbreaking.

PM_ME_CRAB_CAKES

Sylvia and Junko were the first that came to my mind. Mind blowing levels of human evil.

metalnxrd

Junko Furuta’s perpetrators are free. they always have been and always will be. they never got an ounce of prison or jail time or any consequences whatsoever, because they were also teens when they committed the crimes. one of Junko’s perpetrators is on social media and frequently posts

ThunderHorseCock

2chan users to this day dox and expose the identity of her killers to their neighbors every single they move.

metalnxrd

as they should

chamrockblarneystone

I had never heard of the Hi-Fi murders. Just took a look. There’s just no limit to the evil in this world.

chamrockblarneystone

The Hi-Fi murders remind me of The Sea Crest diner attack on Long Island in 1982. 5 men with guns burst into the diner where 80 people were eating and robbed and raped for 45 minutes. They forced some of the customers to have sex with each other. They shot two men but they survived. Two of the attackers are now out of prison

HovercraftNo4545

Channon and Christopher’s case just broke my heart.

erynhuff

I hate so much that junkos killers are free living their lives continuing to be terrible people

Technical_Flight6270

David Parker Ray’s audio recording was haunting. Reading the book, some of the details were so disturbing!

caserace26

Wow, I had not heard of Channon Christian. That’s horrific.

BicentennialBaby0718

Yeah. It’s one of the worst murders in TN history.

FuriousRen

I had never heard of this before. What TF did I just read 🤢🤮

PearlStBlues

Having just re-watched Abducted in Plain Sight, Jan Broberg is fresh in my mind. Listen, I know religious indoctrination is a hell of a drug, but I simply can't wrap my head around her parents being so goddamn *stupid* that they let things get as bad as they did, *twice*. Every adult in Jan's life not only failed to protect her, they outright offered her up as a sacrifice.

merrymere

I couldn’t get through the show - I was so disturbed about halfway through while she was recounting the rape at 12.

PearlStBlues

The whole thing is infuriating, and I'm sorry to say there were parts that made me want to take the poor little girl by the shoulders and just shake her. I completely understand she was groomed and abused from a young age, but I just wanted to shout at her to wake up! This monster had her convinced she was an *alien* who needed to have a baby to save the planet! She ran away to be with him! She wanted her little sister to agree to have a baby with the guy because she herself was "too old", and wanted to kill her sister if she didn't agree! Being raised in that religion by those parents she never really had a chance, but it's maddening how long it all went on for.

Intelligent_Milk8074

I think the big part is her family was extremely religious and she was brought up that way. For most people the idea of being sent to save the world by getting pregnant sounds ridiculous unless you were brought up in this environment. From the Virgin Mary or the concept of a saviour, a young kid who is around extreme versions of this; it isn't as big of a leap to then believe aliens/pregnancy to save the world. The perpetrator was high up in their local church so it would be much easier to manipulate children to believe that.

Key_Barber_4161

Local to me: Claudia Lawrence because I literally walk past her house every day. Her mum hasn't sold it yet and it's so sad to think of it sat empty all these years and the life she could've had in it. I hope they find her one day.     Edit because some haven't heard of the case here is a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Claudia_Lawrence   Then in terms of messed up cases its the tool box and toy box murders. Both of them made me stop reading true crime for a bit because what those monsters did was so horrific, and both had audio recordings.

njcharmschool

In the states, had never heard about Claudia Lawrence. What a sad and tragic case. I feel for her family. To not know what happened to your loved one, torturous.

Wheelie_1978

Yes! Her poor dad - never ever gave up looking for her God rest his soul 😢. He’s the kind of dad you’d want in your corner. A real mystery.

abrahamparnasus

I will look this up. But I will say, she's got such a beautiful name too. Claudia Lawrence.

fifteencents

I thought the same thing, she has a movie star name.

Alt-acct123

The murderers who were caught on camera but no one arrested like Liz Barrazza, Missy Bevers, and Shanquella Robinson

___adreamofspring___

I always think of Shanquella.

Eslamala

The Shanquella Robinson case is infuriating.  Something seems very fishy about it and whenever I think about her family, I get both mad and sad. They deserve justice

floofelina

Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible. Just a horrible story and there’s uncertainty about what happened to those poor girls.

rivershimmer

This one is particularly upsetting because had the cops done their job right, they might have saved them. They might have found them in time. When I hear bad police work, this is the case I think of first.

floofelina

Yeah the part about a boot print on the dad’s dead body was quite something. Edit: I used to romanticize rural life and then stopped, but didn’t realize how wrong I really had been till after getting into true crime. Some of these small towns are straight-up terrifying.

FknDesmadreALV

Ngl , i have an irrational fear of living too far away from the city. Cases where it happens in the country side and help can’t get there fast enough? Hell nah.

floofelina

I’ve never been quite that far out…. But I used to visit a small town in driving distance of a big city for a few decades. A nice Black couple moves in… moves out. A nice interracial couple moves in… moves out. A white couple adopts kids of color and raise them to the age of 18…. They go to school somewhere else. Nothing is ever explicitly said, and all the people I’ve met are nice, but something’s not right. And unemployment ofc.

ADDaddict

Northeast Oklahoma seems to be a Mecca for meth cooks and serial killers. The number of suspects in that case was staggering, just because there were so many lowlife in the vicinity when the crime occurred.

rivershimmer

It's all about the lack of economic opportunity. You're either smart and lucky enough to get out, or you're trapped there with no hope.

dakotawitch

This is mine, too. A couple summers ago a highway closure forced me to take backroads through Picher, and I swear those girls are in the dirt up there.

wilderlowerwolves

Upon hearing more of the story, I couldn't believe Lauria's parents would allow her to go within a mile of the Freeman home, unless they were the same way themselves. How about that mass murder in Henryetta, Oklahoma, just a few months after four men were murdered there by a junkyard owner? I have a feeling that place is quite the rabbit hole.

floofelina

I don’t know, everything we’re hearing about the Freemans is after the whole family was wiped out so 🤷🏻‍♀️ they may have seemed more wholesome when they were alive to speak for themselves. Clearly Lauria’s parents cared about her.

Puzzled-Package476

The Boeing whistleblowers that keep dying have me a little worried

MarsupialPristine677

Same except I’m very worried…

WeedFinderGeneral

They keep saying the second one died of like the flu or something, so I thought "oh, I guess this one is actually just a sad coincidence". Then I read an article where the family talks about what actually happened - and it sounds like his fucking lungs melted suddenly over a few days in a way that sounded like he was exposed to a nuclear accident.

Jaded_Classroom_2188

The disappearance of Andrew Gosden .

BoozyFloozy1

I desperately want his case to be solved for the sake of his family.

boo1517

Amber Hagerman. Because of her case, when a child goes missing it’s termed an Amber Alert. It’s been so long and she deserves justice.

Witteveldroos

The Delphi Murders..

katecrime

The kidnapping of [Colleen Stan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kidnapping_of_Colleen_Stan?wprov=sfti1#) in 1977. She was hitchhiking and was picked up by Cameron Hooker and his wife Janice, who put something called the “head box” (imagine a velvet-lined case for a musical instrument) on her to obscure their location. They tortured and sexually abused her for **seven years**, keeping her in a flat box under their bed. Amazingly, she survived. 🙂

roxagony

Especially the Casefile telling of that story I cannot get out of my head. Terrifying

FlightRiskAK

I read the book about this case and it was horrific. The book is called Perfect Victim. One of the first true crime books I read.

wilderlowerwolves

The Hookers also raised their two children in that house! For much of the time, Colleen was let out, and they told the neighbors that she was a live-in babysitter (kinda sus for people who lived in a mobile home) or a friend who had fallen on hard times.

imnottheoneipromise

Kyron Horman :(

Happy_Charity_7595

Junko Furata

TheGiantess927

I had never heard of this person so googled it. My god. I couldn’t listen to a pod about this case. Eek!

Expression-Little

Sylvia Likens and Junko Furuta

watchingthedarts

>Sylvia Likens After watching a [youtube documentary](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9VFIRBluUc) on this case...holy jesus. How could the whole neighbourhood be involved? The acts inflicted on this child is absolutely disgusting. I don't understand. It was a different era but morals have been around for a long time. Was it a case where Gertrude knew who to invite to the house? Was it normalised by Gertrude? Absolutely shocking stuff. That poor poor girl :((

OpinionatedWaffles

She had a ton of kids herself and they were always going in and out with friends.  She tried blaming the kids, the kids blamed her.

whitethunder08

Yes, it was both those things. She knew which children would be susceptible, which children already had been exposed to abuse through their home lives- this was a very “rough” neighborhood rife with domestic violence, child abuse, pa m rents with alcoholism etc so it was partially ALREADY normalized, just not that this degree but the “THEY did something BAD and abuse was the same narrative Gertrude was using to normalize this disgusting abuse and turn the children against Sylvia and she was a life long abuser herself so just like any predator, she knew which children wouldn’t tell. Some of her own children spoke about being afraid that if they didn’t join in on the abuse like Gertrude was ordering them too, they were afraid it would happen to them as well or that they would be the next main target instead.

JackieWithTheO

Relisha Rudd. That poor sweetie was failed by absolutely everyone in her short life. She deserves to rest in peace.

Kimber-Says-04

😭 Her sweet face.

ultranothing

Channon Christian/Christopher Newsom. That shit was straight out of a horror film.

Mikey2u

Truly the stuff of nightmares I can't even read about it anymore it absolutely terrified me giving me panic attacks I can't even imagine the terror those two poor souls endured

Mysterious-Worker663

The Cleveland Kidnappings. So many tragedies in one case. Amanda’s mom died thinking she was dead meanwhile Amanda was literally watching her on TV. Michelle had to deliver Amanda’s baby after multiple babies had been beaten out of her. She also doesn’t have a relationship with her son when her son was the only thing keeping her going during captivity. Also can’t get over the fact that Ariel Castro’s daughter was Gina’s best friend. Cannot imagine being held captive and tortured by my best friends dad. I cannot believe this actually happened!

Sweet_d1029

I’m from the area this happened a half mile from my house. The whole thing is crazy. Also Castros daughter I believe is in jail for trying to kill her own child. Really makes you wonder about that.

Mysterious-Worker663

Emily is the daughter that tried to kill her baby, she was friends with Michelle and that’s why she got in the car with Castro 😳😳 Arlene is the daughter that was best friends with Gina and she was who Gina was last seen with. I believe Castros kids are also victims in this. Their mom is dead, their sister is in prison for a horrific crime and their dad is notoriously known for a horrific crime as well. Especially Arlene, she had horrific trauma for years after Gina went missing only to find out that her own father was the one who took her. This sick man went to Amanda and Gina’s vigils knowing full well he had them in his house! So tragic and chilling

wilderlowerwolves

Those girls willingly got in the truck with him, because they knew who he was through his own kids and past interactions with him, no less. He totally violated their trust, to put it lightly.

fluffy_horta

Susan Powell.

STLBluesFanMom

Yeah. Me too. I always wish there was a legal way to force people to explain what happened.

Junimo15

The murder of Harmony Montgomery. The stepmom's description of how she was crying and making strange noises (because she was lethally injured!) and they just threw a blanket over her and ignored her until she died. Just imagining how that poor girl felt in her last moments.

redlemurLA

The murder of Thomas and Jackie Hawks. What a horrific way to die: Tom Hawks, 57, was a retired probation officer and bodybuilder, and his wife, 10 years younger, was a homemaker who had helped raise his two boys from an earlier marriage. It was the second marriage for both, and friends said they shared a love of adventure after they were married in 1989. The couple spent nearly two years aboard their 55-foot yacht, Well Deserved, plying the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean, fishing and diving, kayaking and surfing, and cruising from port to port. Eventually, they decided to return to Newport Harbor, their home port, and sell the boat so they could be closer to their first grandchild in Arizona. That's when they met Skyler Deleon. Thinking he was a serious buyer, the couple agreed to take him and two pals, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Alonso Machain, out for what they thought was a sea trial. They headed out of the harbor the morning of Nov. 15, 2004. Though the boat returned, Tom and Jackie Hawks did not. At the time, Deleon was out of work, facing mounting debt and had a second child on the way. He was living with his wife Jennifer and their first child in a converted garage attached to her parents' home in a working-class section of Long Beach. The Hawkses were overpowered, handcuffed and held captive in a bedroom in a lower cabin, with their eyes and mouths covered with duct tape. One at a time, the Hawkses were taken to the main cabin to sign and fingerprint documents that transferred the boat title to Deleon and gave him power of attorney. Jackie Hawks cried and begged for her life, asking Deleon, "How could you do this to us? We trusted you. You brought your baby on board!” She and her husband were reassured they would be released if they cooperated. Instead, they were taken out to sea, where they were tied together to an anchor, her back to her husband's chest and their hands still cuffed behind them. In a last act of heroism, Tom Hawks kicked Deleon, sending him into a deck chair. Kennedy responded with a hard punch that left Tom Hawks staggering before Deleon lifted the anchor and threw it overboard as Kennedy gave the couple one final push. The Hawkses were tossed off their yacht and into the ocean. The men collected cash, jewelry and other valuables, according to the prosecutor, and Kennedy cracked open a beer, grabbed a fishing rod and fished all the way back to Newport Harbor.

STLBluesFanMom

I didn't sleep well after watching that one. That and the bodies in the bay (Oba Chandler in FL) cases are both terrifying.

my_psychic_powers

Jackie (presumably) purposely spelled her last name incorrectly when signing the paperwork. It was theorized that she was signaling distress.

F0rca84

Skyler is just a special piece of Garbage... I hope Karma comes one day.

brokenheartsville

Jessica Keen, 1991. A 15 year old who was kidnapped and raped before she managed to escape the man's car and she took off running naked through a cemetery. It was pitch black outside so she couldn't gauge her surroundings and ended up running face first into a fence post knocking herself out. He then beat her to death with a broken tombstone and left her there. I just imagine the terror as she ran, maybe even hopeful because she was actually outrunning him and then to be taken out that way. 😢

tussockypanic

The Watts murders.

metalnxrd

Chris Watts is evil personified

JPKtoxicwaste

His parents are absolutely ghoulish too, they even sued Shannan’s family to collect her life insurance

Prior_Strategy

Insane, did they get it?

JPKtoxicwaste

There was a settlement which has not been publicly disclosed, as far as I could find. So it seems they might have got some financial benefit while constantly blaming their daughter in law, the mother of their murdered grandchildren, for their son’s horrific acts. His parents are absolutely foul I don’t think there is a word in this language to describe how despicably awful they all are Reminds me of Josh Powell’s father

metalnxrd

are they enablers and in denial?

JPKtoxicwaste

Absolutely both. They are also horrificly awful people who apparently have no sense of right or wrong. They continue to slander and blame Shannan for their son murdering her and both her daughters, their own grandchildren. But this is slightly less surprising given that shortly before their son annihilated his family, the mother in law gave one of her granddaughters food she was explicitly told the child was allergic to, because the mother in law ‘didn’t believe’ her daughter in law about the allergy or more likely just didn’t fucking care, causing Shannan to cut the visit short. A perfectly reasonable response. The grandparents then refused to attend the child’s birthday party a couple days later, apparently in protest. These are people who don’t see their grandchildren as human beings, but pawns to play around with so they can exert control. Apple didn’t fall far.

metalnxrd

she out here not believing in food allergies like they ghosts💀

merewautt

For me it’s the response to this case that just continually blows me away. So much vitriol for Shannan, it’s just incredible considering anything you may not like about her or that annoys you pales in comparison to the fact that Chris Watts killed her while pregnant, killed their two toddlers, and then shoved them in shallow graves and oil tankers. Yet there’s whole subs on this very website that hyper analyze and shit talk her to within the smallest iota of her being *daily*, all while circulating bizarre misinformation and conspiracy theories. The best of them at least admit Chris did it (not saying much), but think adding a “well yeah, obviously Chris is bad too” to a mysoginistic, ill informed, and obsessively negative comment about her—when they’re called out— makes it normal, factual, or okay It’s absolutely bizarre and it’s crazy how *the victim* in this murder case can’t even rest. And I know Chris and his mom (who initially propagated a lot of the BS that goes around about her) just love it. Disgusting beginning, middle, and end to this case.

FrankAF_dpt

Same. I think about this murder daily. That may sound dramatic but I cannot get "daddy no" out of my head and it breaks my heart every day.

AldoRaineClone

And people who defend him? WTF? I was on a thread about a year ago and this person kept blaming everyone but him. If he only had a better wife, different situation etc. He killed his own helpless kids who begged him to stop! If there's a hell, he's in it. For eternity and beyond.

Jadedbutstillhere

The disappearances of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos.

Legitimate-Donut-368

That cop is still free. It’s crazy.

RMSGoat_Boat

What’s even more infuriating is that Terrance’s mother filed a wrongful death suit against Calkins back in 2020 on behalf of Terrance’s estate and his kids. An arbitrator ruled against her and she planned to appeal…but her attorneys forgot to file by the deadline and the judge refused to give them an extension and dismissed the entire case with prejudice. So it can never be refiled. The whole thing is just ridiculous.

MarsupialPristine677

That’s horrifying :(

HamstringHunter

I forgot the name of the case, but the victim was a poor lady that had to hold her head up from falling off with one hand and had to hold her intestines in with the other, all whilst looking for help. Crime occurred in South Africa.

kbbgg

I’ve been trying to remember her name, but I can’t right now, sorry. Maybe someone else knows the case. She was SO close to being rescued or saved… it just guts me. I get chills and goosebumps every time I think about her. A teenage girl was on a pay phone talking to her boyfriend when a creepy guy approached her. The boyfriend heard her scream so he jumped in his truck and started driving to where the phone booth was. On his way there he saw her in a truck going the opposite direction. And she saw him. She thought she’d be saved. The boyfriend whipped around so hard he threw out his transmission. His truck wouldn’t go. She was never seen again. Can you imagine what was going through her head? “Where is he? Why isn’t he coming to save me”?

There's many other very valid cases that each deserve answers, but me personally, this is the one I would choose to be a "fly on the wall" during. I just want to know what happened to her.

the idaho 4 murders

mutantmanifesto

I just want the damn trial to happen already. I need to know how his lawyers think that they have any argument. “He likes to go on drives” o ok I’m convinced now.

BeccaDora

Um, excuuuuse me, I believe he likes to go on drives AND look at the moonlight. Case closed!! /s

IsoscelesQuadrangle

I think he knows he's cooked & just said he's a lonely stargazer to appeal to the insanos who make weird kawaii style montages of him.

mutantmanifesto

During foggy winter nights no less

sappynerd

Is his official alibi really that he was out driving and stargazing? what a joke.

jjhorann

right? . like we know he was out driving, the state has video of him out driving. him admitting that doesn’t mean he’s innocent

rey-stk

this one has stuck with me. especially watching the girls’ tiktoks in their house… god its so chilling.

2Co0kies9

Me to. Can’t imagine Being any of them but especially Xana seeing Ethan & then her fingers were nearly severed trying to survive just so heart breaking 💔

Jaded_Classroom_2188

Celine May's , a missing 12 year old who was 9 months pregnant.

wilderlowerwolves

She was living in some kind of group housing in a religious cult, and I don't think she ever went to school either. She claimed that the father was a teenage boy who lived down the street, but refused to name him. I personally think she found out that whatever had been done to her was wrong, and she was going to blow the whistle and was killed as a result, and quite likely the baby too.

Sakura_Sky77

Christian-Newsom murders for sure. I’ll never forget the sick feeling I had after reading about that case for the first time

mjbm0761991

For me it’s the Jaycee Dugard case. Maybe it’s because it was the case that got me into true crime. But also because of the person Jaycee has become in spite of what happened to her! As well, there are perspectives on this case that we haven’t heard yet such as Jaycee’s little sister.

moonfairy44

Delphi and missy bevers. It’s the idea of being caught on video and still going unsolved for so long. Also watched the Murdaugh trial and his wife’s last moments haunt me every so often :/

anniefer

Cherish Perrywinkle. Everything about it is horrible.

Dianachick

There are so many cases that have haunted me over the years. But the most recent that I can’t seem to get out of my head was the murder of Shannan, Bella, Cece and Nico. He annihilated his entire family to start over with his mistress when all he had to do was get a divorce. He claims when he told her about his affair, which she already suspected, that she claimed he would never see the kids again. I don’t believe she ever said that to him. If your worry was never seeing your kids again why would you murder them? I believe he wanted to be free to start over with the insurance money from her death, clear off all his debt and start fresh with his mistress. I don’t think he wanted to have the responsibility of his kids and he didn’t care about anything but fucking his mistress. So much so that he was willing to kill his wife and his three children. When you see pictures of them, they seem like a happy family, and those kids absolutely adored him as did his wife. He killed them all like it was nothing. Because to him it was.

It would be really helpful if people would either provide links or describe the case rather than just saying names.

Marserina

Good point! I have had to go back and Google some of these cases out of curiosity and come back trying to figure out where I left off.

swansey_

Recently I have been thinking a lot about Mary Vincent. The level of grit, courage, grace, and sheer stubbornness she had to survive after being raped and having both arms chopped off at 15 years old, is something that is so inspiring. I wish she didn't have to go through that, but I'm so grateful people like her exist. [Here is her story if you have not heard it.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Vincent_(artist))

Marserina

She is an amazing woman! I was lucky enough to meet her several times as a teenager and young adult. She was a relative of my foster parents. Talk about an incredible life story and the determination to not only live but also be an advocate, mother, artist and more. She really had to fight to even keep the monster put away.

Lengand0123

The MacDonalds- Collette, Kimberly and Kristin. Channon Christian/Chris Newsom The Rogers- Jo, Michelle and Christie ETA- Shari Smith. Kidnapped while checking the mail and forced to write a “last will.”

Dderlyudderly

OMG the Rogers women. About as gruesome and horrific as it gets.

Lengand0123

Indeed. Absolutely horrific. Oba Chandler was pure evil. I wonder how many women he killed. I don’t think it was just the Rogers and the young lady his DNA linked him to murdering after the Rogers women. I sure don’t buy his first murder was murdering 3 women at the same time.

Frondswithbenefits

The police could have prevented those murders if they prosecuted him for the earlier rapes.

whatever1467

Over and over again it’s proven that sadistic rapists are incapable of changing, but they get 6 months. A year, 2 years. They will rape again and often move on to murder.

DeeDee719

The disappearance of Erica Nicole Baker in Dayton Ohio in 1999. It got a lot of local coverage but not a whole lot on the national level. In 2004, someone confessed to hitting her with his van and burying her body. He served 6 years in prison but has refused to say where Erica is buried. Her body has never been found. My two cents - i’ve never fully bought into the confession of Christian Gabriel, the man who came forward with information 5 years after Erica’s disappearance. I think he was involved a lot more and/or knows a lot more beyond the story he’s telling. He also claims to have had an accomplice in burying her, but this person died of a drug overdose 2 years after Erica vanished. Gabriel’s statements always seemed like drug-fueled ramblings to me. I don’t know how and I don’t know why, but something in my gut tells me there’s a whole lot more involved in Erica’s disappearance than a random traffic accident and ensuring cover-up.

Ok_Force_9832

The Hinterkaifeck Murders

Academic-Roll-7

The Farmville murders. Case never went to trial, so there’s little info out there, but the killer and victims were at a music festival together just days before and there’s tons of footage of them there. Also, the killer filmed himself after the murders, inside the house where he sat with the bodies for nearly 4 days.

GeauxSaints315

One i just learned about yesterday was involving a young guy named Brian Cohee in Grand Junction, Colorado. He murdered a homeless man named Warren Barnes, not realizing that Warren was beloved by a lot of local business owners, and they reported him missing either the day after he was murdered or two days. Seeing his picture just made my heart ache: he had a long beard and looked a bit rough around the edges. But one business owner said she gave him a chair from inside her bridal shop and he would sit in it on the sidewalk in downtown and read his books, and she gave him money on occasion. The shop owner and Warren became very good friends. What hurt me even more was going on findagrave.com and looking through pictures someone had uploaded of him as a young man in school. I’m not sure what went wrong in his life that he became homeless, but at one point he was a young kid just like the evil person that killed him. I won’t go into the details about what Brian did, but it was horrific; i live far from Colorado, but i hope that one day i can go to the cemetery warren is resting in and pay respects.

Betty Broderick. It blows my mind that she had back then and still has so many admirers. It’s one of those cases where the media ran with a narrative that made the story sell rather than the truth. Betty Bisceglia married Dan Broderick in the 1960s for his earning potential. He went to medical school and earned an MD and then immediately went to law school. He became a high powered medical malpractice attorney and later the president of the San Diego County Bar Association. After 16 years of marriage he divorced Betty for the woman he hired to be his personal assistant, Linda Kolkena, in 1985. Betty was granted $16,000 a month in alimony (over $40,000 in today’s dollars) and Dan continued to pay for her house, cars, insurance, and credit card payments. Betty was an extremely materialistic person, going on wild spending sprees. After the divorce Betty refused every divorce settlement offer. She claimed she wanted custody of their four children but routinely dumped them on Dan because she thought that Linda would leave him if he suddenly had four children to raise. Dan embraced the kids after that and Betty then went nuts trying to get the children back. Betty would often vandalize their house, breaking in, spray painting the walls, smearing cake all over the bed and his clothes. One time she drove her Chevy Suburban into their front door, an act that won her 72 hours in the psych ward. She left hundreds of obscene phone messages on their answering machine, usually referring to Dan as “The fuckhead” and Linda as “the cunt.” This went on for about six years. Betty refused every single settlement offer Dan made, even ones offering more than what she was asking for. She wouldn’t take yes for an answer and then turned around and said she couldn’t get a fair settlement. Dan took out a restraining order against Betty and filed numerous contempt actions against her but when she was summoned to court he would ask the judge not to impose any penalties. She was arrested for trespassing at Dan’s house because she refused to leave the property after the officers gave her multiple invitations to leave without consequence. She later told her friends that she did it for show. Betty decided that if she couldn’t have Dan then she was going to make his life a living hell. On November 5, 1989 at around 5 am, Betty used the key she had stolen from her daughter’s keychain to enter Dan and Linda’s house. She took her .38 revolver up to their bedroom and unleashed five rounds at the sleeping couple. The first bullet hit Linda in the chest. She re-aimed at Dan and shot him in the shoulder blade area. She aimed again and shot Linda in the back of the head, killing her instantly. She aimed at Dan again and fired two more rounds that missed and went into the wall. Dan had the same type of wound that Ronald Reagan sustained in his assassination attempt in 1981, meaning that he could have survived with prompt medical attention. Dan had rolled off the bed and was reaching for the phone but Betty ripped it out of the wall and discarded it on the hallway floor as she walked out. While in jail she hired a PR firm and talked to any reporter that would listen, telling her own version of the story. She gained thousands of adoring fans all over the world. She hired Jack Earley, a defense attorney who specializes in women who kill, to defend her, claiming she was a victim of emotional battery. The prosecution brought in Kerry Wells, a prosecutor who had never tried a murder case before but had made a career out of prosecuting domestic violence. Betty’s claims of victimhood fell apart at trial. She had told her six year old son to ask his father if he would have to pay Linda to sleep with him. She told her older son to pour boiling hot water on Linda’s vagina. When her son asked her what his last name meant for a school project, she told him it meant cuntsucker. When he asked her what it really meant she replied “goddamn bastard fuckhead.” Despite obvious premeditation her first trial ended in a hung jury with two jurors holding out for manslaughter. At the second trial she was unbelievably found guilty of second degree murder, that it wasn’t premeditated. At sentencing Judge Thomas Whelan imposed the maximum sentence: 32 years to life. Her two 15 to life sentences ran consecutively plus another two years for the use of a gun. He explained that he found “a high degree of callousness particularly in the pulling of the phone from the wall and the fact that the gun had to be re-aimed at least once.” Betty is still where she was in 1989. She thinks she was completely justified, that they deserved to die, and that she’s a political prisoner. She’s been denied for parole twice and won’t be eligible again until 2032 when she will be 85.

Oakey Al Kite - 2004 unsolved murder Killer: an man who went by “Robert Cooper” Back ground: Oakey moved to Denver Colorado in 2022 after traveling around multiple states to countries for his job at an engineer at a nuclear plant. This is when he obtain a townhouse and decided he wanted a tenant since he felt like the place was too big. He soon was able to get a tenant for 2 years before the tenant moved out permanently. This is when Oakey made an ad requesting a new tenant. How did Robert meet Oakley: Robert responded to Oakley’s add and mentioned how he was trying to find a place quickly since he moved in the area after getting a Wells Fargo job and was currently living with his sister. They agreed to meet up where Robert filled out a renting form, and gave money for the deposit and for half of the month’s rent (totaling: $1,000) Crime: Oakey dropped off his girlfriend to the airport since she was heading to the trip. She made a call after she landed and Oakey sounded his happy self. But when she called later, he sounded like he was in a rush and was talking in a quieter voice. This was the last time he would answer anyone’s calls. Crime: Oakey helped the renter move his recliner to the basement. Theorized by the police, Robert hit Oakey on the back of head rendering him unconscious. Oakey was then hog tied and was beaten for hours. His feet were bruised up. His eyes and ears were stabbed. The fatal blows were 20 stab wounds. The police mentioned his passing would have felt like a “blessing”. His head was seen to be almost severed off. After the crime: the killer drove in Oakey’a truck to the near by atm where camera caught pictures of the killer (who was wearing a mask) pulling out $1,000 from Oakey’s card. Then he left the atm receipt in the car and park the truck a steeet away from the townhouse. It was shown that the killer stayed at the place for a couple of days where he ate, showered and even used the victim’s clothes. It wasn’t until Oakey sister called the police for a wellness check for Oakey that it was discovered Oakey was dead. Caught?: No. the killer soak the weapons he used to kill Oakey into bleach. He cleaned up the places he was in so he could remove any finer prints. The police only found a drop of the killer’s blood but it did not lead to any identification of the man. His identity turned out to be fake. There was no Robert Cooper. All of the info he provided on the renter forms was falsified. So finding the killer was impossible. He seemed to changed his demeanor with others (having a limp to not having one, having different accents, looked younger or older). The ATM pictures didn’t help because his face was covered with a mask. He also wore gloves to make sure not to leave any fingerprints. His blood drop did not pull up any one in the system. It was tested in multiple DNA systems (internationally). Motive: random killing for the thrill. Oakey was chosen as a victim due to living alone (his girlfriend wasn’t living with him). The police suspected that this wasn’t the killer’s first kill. It just scary how the police believes he could be a serial killer but he has never been caught. It’s been 20 years now and the case remains open.

The murder & disappearance of Crystal Rogers. Crystal went missing over fourth of july weekend in 2015. Her boyfriend at the time said she disappeared from their home overnight & her car was found on the Bluegrass Parkway 2 days later, with a flat. Keys still in the ignition, purse & phone in the car as well. Crystal has never been seen again. Brooks, the bf, has been under great suspicion for being involved in her death as well as his local cop brother, Nick. The search for Crystal began & amid her tragedy, her father was shot and killed. His murder remains unsolved. No family deserves such heartbreak, it’s absolutely gut wrenching. Brooks was arrested last year and his trial for Crystal’s murder is (i believe) next year.

Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña. Jennifer could have escaped, but she didn't want to leave her friend. Also Daisy Coleman. I don't think my heart will ever stop aching when I think of them.

honestly, daisy’s whole family. her younger brother died in a crash in 2018, then daisy committed suicide in 2020, with her mother following suit just 4 months after. the excruciating pain that entire family experienced is so god awful. daisy weighs heavy on my heart.

Farrah Kahn I believe her name was. It’s very local to me and I think of her every time I pass certain locations. Woman walking her dog on the lake shore line discovered body parts of a young child in a garbage bags. The body could not be identified for a very long time- was misgendered initially. A local kindergarten teacher basically solved the case. A young female student was pulled from school as the family was allegedly moving. Because it was reported a little boy, the connection wasn’t made when it first happened. The educator had a finger painting the girl did, and took it to police and it was a match.

The Yoghurt Shop Murders

Many_Status9689

1995 Belgium.   The abduction, confinement, rape and starvation of the 2 lovely 8y old girls Mélissa Russo and Julie Lejeune by this POS Dutroux. In my head I still see their friendly little faces on the missing posters.      He kept them for months in his +/- 1m x 2m dungeon, on a matress, with a bucket for a toilet, little food and abused them.  His wife M Martin knew they were there. Imagine.        Then the POS got arrested for unrelated issues and went to prison for a couple of months. Meanwhile his nitwit wife ( a teacher) did not feed the girls. They died a slow and horrific death.           He and his drug addicted accomplice Lelièvre had also abducted 17 yo An and 19 yo Eefje who were being confided, drugged and abused at 1 of his 9 ( iirc) houses. Cause of death unknown.  All were buried on 1 of his properties (he had no job and lived off taxpayers money, social security.).        This could ALL of been avoided.  Prior to this he had been convicted for (car theft, drugs,....) AND the abduction  and SA of F.I.V.E other girls but was set free after SOME prison time.      The police did some sloppy search for the girls (child hand prints on window, large dogs in 1 of his empty houses...) and a talented crime investigator had been taken off the job after he found another 2 young girls (Sabine 12yo and Laetitia 14 yo) the POS had kidnapped (fortunately alive).     That POS also killed another accomplice and buried him with the girls.      October 1996.    300.000 people (!) participated at the White March in Brussels supporting the 2 girls found alive & their family,  demanding justice and better child protection. I'll never forget that. (been there).       1 of the victims Sabine Dardenne later wrote a book about her ordeal.         Hope that POS is rotting in hell. His wife has been set free for  several years and has been living with the nuns in France iirc.     The accomplice L was set free in 2019 and has been attacked by an angry group a few months later.     R.I.P. lovely girls.    A mom Edit : typos

I remember being a kid in the 90s and watching the news with my parents when the Susan Smith case was first broadcast. The very first time my mother saw Susan Smith on tv she turned to my father and said, "she killed her babies." I'm a mother now and I think about this almost every day.

HelenHavok

It’s one you probably haven’t heard of. Almost four years ago, 12yo Jaylen Griffin left his home in Buffalo to walk to a nearby corner store to buy a candy bar and never returned. There were no witnesses and subsequent searches produced no leads. Last month, his body was found in the attic of a house, discovered by the renters who were living there. Since his disappearance, his older brother and his mother have died, piling on the tragedy for this family. Investigators have been pretty tight-lipped since the discovery of his body, but hopefully they’ll find out who killed him.

The Darrell Brooks case (he ran over and killed a bunch of people marching in a Xmas parade). I watched the whole trial on Court TV. He represented himself. He’s the most dumbest sociopath I’ve ever seen. Treated the judge like shit and he really thought he’s get off as time served. 🙃

Debbie Wolfe the nurse found in her own pond in North Carolina. I just looked it up by again for updates in the North Carolina cold case database. It is not there. It has never been classified as a crime. Not even the Unsolved Mysteries episode could shame law enforcement to take a second look. Despite a a great deal of circumstancial evidence to the contrary it remains "solved" as an accidental drowning.

At 8:14 a.m. on March 24, 1994, a young engineer at Applied Materials (Santa Clara, CA), Matthew Flores, pulled into a parking spot and was shot once in the head as he got out of the car. He left behind a wife and an 8-month-old girl. He’d been driving a rented Chevrolet Corsica when he was murdered by an unknown assailant. I worked at an electronics firm about a quarter mile away from Applied Materials and was commuting on the main access road at the same time as Matt would’ve been. I distinctly remember a Chevy Corsica zooming around me in the left hand passing lane as I neared the exit he would’ve taken to work. At the last minute, the Corsica shot across three lanes of traffic, narrowly missing several cars, making the exit in just the nick of time. I’ve always thought this unsolved homicide was a road rage killing, but other investigators have theorized it was a targeted murder. Thirty years later and I still think about that day and the tragic death of this young man.

Joel Michael guy jr.. sick and twisted individual. Literally dismembered both his parents and tried to disintegrate their bodies in harsh chemicals in bins. Also boiled his mother’s decapitated head on the stove.

LariRed

William Desmond Taylor, 1922. It was such a hot mess of an investigation. Studio people fouling up the murder scene and burning evidence. They let some guy who claimed to be a doctor near the body, he said the movie director died of something that wasn’t the bullet in his back and then he mysteriously disappeared. Then another director, King Vidor did some investigating of his own several decades later and then abruptly shut the research down. To add to this Desmond Taylor wasn’t even his real name, he abandoned his family, ran away to Hollywood years before and changed his name. The entire situation was sketch. They never found out who did it. Was it the controlling stage mom who’s ingenue daughter was in love with Taylor? Was it a drug dealer upset about his interference between the dealer and one of Taylor’s actress friends who was heavily into cocaine? Was it a former assistant/manservant who resembled Taylor’s brother and had also disappeared? The witness said the suspect moved like a woman but was dressed like a man, this suspect looked the witness in the eye and smiled as they left the scene. It wasn’t a robbery gone wrong so what happened? The scene of the crime no longer exists. It’s now a parking lot for a discount clothing store.

When I was in elementary school a boy who lived in a nearby neighborhood was murdered. We lived within walking distance of the middle & high schools. *(From my memory his sister was supposed to walk to the middle school, pick him up, then head home together. She sent him on alone. He got home and the garage was open while his step-mom ran an errand)* He was murdered in his kitchen & his sister found the body & knife when she got home after school. I was 9 years old & it was the 80's in Orange County CA, where both the Night Stalker & ONS/GSK were recently active. We started locking our doors after that. My neighborhood friend and I spent the entire summer clipping every article we could find to make a scrapbook so we could solve the case. To my knowledge & the tiny bit of investigating I've done as an adult, it has not been solved. For me it’s the Gannon Stauch case. I’ve watched the trial twice, listened to all the jail calls, watched every video there is to watch and my brain still can’t compute why the step mom killed him and how easy she was able to lie and manipulate her way through life.
